This book was such a good book. I read it and enjoyed it very much. I highly recommend it to anyone.
I love autumn stories! Kids are going to enjoy this story of the autumn wind inviting all the woodland creatures to a windfall ball- one last night of gathering fallen fruit, dried berries, last of the flowers, for winter storage. The illustrations wee wonderful. I like that the term windfall is explained, as many people have likely forgotten the orchard term!
I received an advance copy from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.
I absolutely loved this book. .The pictures were so bright and pretty. I loved the depictions of the animals getting ready for winter. The rhyming text was short and catchy. A gorgeous book.
This was an adorable book about autumn and the animals preparing for winter. In this gorgeously illustrated book, animals receive invitations in the leaves to come to the ball, there they will have a party before winter and celebrate together while gathering food from windfall.
The book is super cute, the animals are all kind and helpful and the right colors and rhyming scheme make this a perfect children's book for fall. It could be used to talk to kids about animals and their prep for winter, or naming the different types of animals and fruits that they are able to gather. Reading this one together would be a great in any household with younger children.
This was a very cute book about autumn. It would be a great one to read for story time and to teach kids about what fall means for plants and animals. Loved the illustrations as well!

Sorry I only read Kindle review copies, it was not stated on the book blurb or anywhere that it was not a Kindle copy. Thanks for the opportunity but I can't review this.
The illustrations in this book are lovely. Every page has hidden secrets for children to search out while listening to the lyric cadence of the story told in prose. As a parent, this would be a fun book to read and explore with youngsters and the illustrations make it engaging for children to pick up on their own.
What an absolutely beautiful book. As the animals all gather for a Fall Ball, they are able to collect up the windfall (fruits, vegetables etc.) that have fallen because of high winds. Of course all the animals get along in this story. The animals depicted are found in the Northwoods of the US. The illustrations look like watercolours that could be framed and hung on a wall. The text is told in rhyme with a lot of onomatopoeia included. This book could be used for a fall unit, animals of the Northwoods, teaching descriptive writing or origin of words. A lovely book that I shared with my grandchildren and grandniece and nephew. They loved the animals depicted. A great addition to a school library or teacher resource library.
This book is full of lovely illustrations and beautiful language. My only concern is that some of the words are a bit out of date or unfamiliar to many (fete, shindig) and therefore might cause some confusion.
The artwork, especially the color, blew me away. I also liked the rhyming story text. Such a perfect combination in a kids book.
5 stars
Thanks to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book, which I voluntarily reviewed.
This lovely story is about animals gathering for an autumn ball. A time to be with friends and celebrate the change of seasons. The author adds information at the end on what a windfall is, and why we use it in common speech. She also includes some information about the illustrations and story representing her Wisconsin home. It's a pleasant story, and the illustrations seem old fashioned and homey. Just right for a brisk winter to wind to roll in.
The pictures are breathtaking. Beautiful work. The verse is very natural, the rhyming doesn't sound forced. Just a nice cadence throughout. Relaxing and dreamy. I like that there are some interesting vocabulary words throughout: fete, cache, beckoning, pranced, suite, blustery, etc. A child may have to ask what a few words mean, but it's sure to be a favorite AND an educational tool.
