"If Ginger lives with Badgers, is she still a real fox?"

Accompanied by Eve Tharlet's ever-lovely illustrations, this is the newest installation in Brigitte Luciani's "Mr. Badger and Mrs. Fox" series. With the appearance of the "Wild Cat" (and some very annoying genets), Ginger worries that by living with Badgers, she's not a "proper" fox. After meeting some new friends (all those babies! 🦊), Ginger returns home and her brothers "unmask" Sylvester (and get back at the genets).

Recommended for ages 6-10, especially for those that are dealing with blended families and bullying. As soon as I found this series a few years ago, I've fallen in love with this family - especially Berry!

This is the first book I have read in the graphic novel series and I liked it. I tried to read it with my 5 year old grandson, but he had trouble following the text with the pictures and kept asking where I was. It will be better with children who are beginning to read independently (age 7 to 9). The story is cute and has a good message. When Ginger, the fox, is told by The Wild Cat that her father would be ashamed of her, she begins to worry and leaves her territory to find more foxes. Of course, she realizes that her parents are proud of her no matter what and that it is important to be herself. The way the story is laid out is wonderful and the illustrations are beautiful, vibrant and the animals are cute. A good addition to a class or school library. The publisher, Lerner Publishing Group, generously provided me with a copy of this book to read. The opinions shared are my own.

This story was uneven and it was hard to figure out what age range this would most resonate with - it seems like it is aimed toward younger readers and tugs toward a moral for the resolution but ultimately doesn't come together. It might be a translation issue.

Very disjointed and boring little graphic novel. I would recommend the publisher's try to streamline the content more to complement the beautiful artwork.

This is the first in this series I read. I liked how this was written as a graphic novel for kids and the message is nice.
I received an ARC of this book via Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

This is a sweet introduction to graphic novels with lovable characters battling against familiar feelings of not fitting in, what makes family, and trying to be something you're not, or to be okay with who you are. This would be a comfortable series for a young reader to cuddle into.

This series is simple and sweet. The straightforward storyline will appeal to early readers, enhanced by the fairytale style illustrations. Kids will connect to Ginger’s apprehension about fitting in... especially when she realizes that outsiders may not understand her blended family. This is a relevant topic in today’s classroom, and I love that it is explored in a non-threatening way. The happy ending will leave the reader with an appreciation for accepting differences.

I think this is the most Depressing Mr Badger and Mrs. Fox book in the series. A great entertainer is coming for a show. But the entertainer makes fun of little fox. So little fox runs away and questions who she is. Does her dad love her? Is she really a fox? The little badgers try to exact revenge on the Wild Cat, but that goes awry. The story has a good message, but its not the fun romp that can be found in the rest of the series.

I really liked this title. The way the story is layout is wonderful. Due to that style and the amount of reading needed for this text it is more for older children. Possibly children that are reading already. Parents may find this a long text to read for bed time. Overall, that art is beautiful, the story if fun, and the overall book was very enjoyable.
