I think Wild World of Animal Colors by Laura Purdie Salas is a must-have nonfiction piece for preschoolers! I absolutely love the beautiful colorful photographs. I strongly believe nonfiction texts should include photographs over illustrations. The text is appropriate for young learners and is interactive as well. The nonfiction features, which include index, references and glossary, make me so excited to share with my preschool science students - they are old enough to start to notice the big, bold words and answer the questions that lead to new questions. This story will help my students understand the different reasons why animals have such beautiful colors and would be an excellent introduction to my animal adaptations unit (including topics like camouflage and predator versus prey). Thank you to the publisher, author, and #NetGalley for the opportunity to preview #CrayolaWildWorldOfAnimalColors

This was not what I was expecting from Crayola. It’s not a book of colors, but rather the colors that can be found in nature, and what they mean. Some mean stay away, some say lets mate, and other say, I’m hiding. A nice short lesson for the youngest bunch.

The illustrations (photographs) in this book were amazing. My grandson didn't want me to turn the pages. After seeing video on facebook with similar information, he loved this book. As I read to him, we talked about the animals and how they used their colours to survive. What an awesome book for teachers of kindergarten and primary to use with students when teaching about animals, their defenses and adaptations in a simple way. The text is easy to follow and there is a glossary at the back to explain the vocabulary to young children.
