I really enjoyed this first book in a new suspense series. I love K9 stories and I really enjoyed the set up in this one where (what I assume) the next heroes all work with dogs but for different agencies.
Trista is a unique heroine with a story I haven't seen before. My one negative was how fast she got over her fear of dogs. I don't know that petting Sheba once would be enough to overcome a lifetime of fear, but I don't know enough on the subject.
Matt was sexy and strong. At times his emotional twists gave me whiplash because they changed so quickly, but overall I liked him.

**I received a copy of Lock N' Load from Net Galley in exchange for a voluntary and honest review**

Lock N' Load by Tee O'Fallon is the first book of her new series about very hot men and their K-9 partners. I have read the author's previous series but I really loved this book so a hearty 5 stars for the book.

Trista Gold is one of the best CIA Analyst and specialist in the dark net where she's been tracking a Russian who knows a huge secret about a presidential nominee and a small town in the Canadian Arctic that could become an international incident. But when some one tries to kill her twice CIA K-9 officer Matt Connors and Sheba come to her rescue. But even Matt carries a tragedy from his childhood that he fears stops him from loving anyone ever again. Can guarding Trista help Matt overcome his heartache to not only love again but also heal his broken heart?

CIA K-9 officer Matt Connors and his former Marine teammates (All K-9 officers with various agencies) are staying at his grandfather's former home that he hopes to turn into a place for young children in trouble with the law. But not only are his friend staying there while being assigned for duty guarding presidential candidates and then with Trista and her cat Poofy staying with them while they both try to find out why someone wants to kill her. There is one little problem Trista is afraid of dogs and really doesn't know how to relate to something that isn't a computer. But as they dig deeper into why the Russians are trying to kill her the secrets the uncover could cost more than Trista's life but also all of their jobs when Matt and his friends to rescue her when she's kidnapped.

This is my first book with a hero that belongs to the K9 division and it was amazing! I love the relationship between dog and cop, and in my inexpert opinion, it was very well portraited.

I like the heroine'computer skills, she's very smart without being geeky and falling for the complete stereotype.
I couldn't really relate to the her when she forgave him so quickly but that's just my personality.

Lock 'N' Load is my first read by Tee O’Fallon, and not a bad book. The story plot was good, however there were times I found the dialogue annoying or lacking sense. As this is the first in a new series, I’m happy to read what comes next, before deciding whether to continue the series.

1 - "The time for spy games is over…" Star!

DNF @ 41%

By 40% the cons list for this book was way out in the lead -

~ A grown woman calling a cat Poofy... (I am literally rolling my eyes each time I read it.)
~ Rather than swear she says 'shpoo'... (I mean really!)
GIF.
~ Matt's friend asking if Trista was a dog, before meeting her, by way of differentiating her to his normal type of woman.
~ Trista not learning from her previous recklessness or stupidity.
~ The chemistry between them is virtually non-existent.
~ The author has almost gone too far in describing her as a loner, thirty-something cat-lady, in that I feel no empathy or familiarity with her.
~ (Because of the above) Personality traits that are meant to be endearing are just becoming annoying.

The only plus -

~ The story shows potential…

Just not enough for me to want to continue with it I'm afraid. This isn’t a short book, and I think if it was pared back a bit so things happen at a faster clip I may have been able to overcome the above, but with a large number of hours left too still read (according to the book God; Kindle) I am just not invested enough in this couple’s story to want to finish it, and by almost halfway as a reader I expect to be.

I am, by all the other posted reviews 100% in the minority with my feelings though. If this is an author you have read before, then you will no doubt enjoy the book, if you like me are a newbie, give it a go, not all books are going to be enjoyed by all readers, and the above is only my personal opinion.

I fell in love with Ms O’Fallon’s NYPD Blue and Gold series and couldn’t wait to read the first book of this new series.
I absolutely loved it.
This series centers around a group of very alpha law enforcement K-9 officers .
This book starts with Sgt. Matt Connors’s story.
Matt is a K-9 officer at the CIA and Trista Gold is one of the CIA’s computer whiz employees . A woman more comfortable with computers than with people, especially someone as alpha as Matt.
Matt on the other hand, is a man that does not get attached and has concluded that he will never be able to love any woman. His past is tragic and sadly, has molded him to be the man he is today.
When Trista comes across some dangerous information and almost lost her life not once, but twice, Matt is determined to take care of her and keep her safe.
While the story will keep you on the edge of your seats with all the suspense, the Russian operatives, the hunky K-9 officers and all of the CIA and FBI involvement , it’s Matt and Trisha who will pull you in. The chemistry between these two is palpable. Each will help the other realize how great they are not only as individuals but also together. But in the end, will Matt’s past stop them from getting their HEA? And will the Russians be the ones to win?
Another must read by this talented author. Can’t wait what she has in store for us in the next book.
I was entrusted this copy by Netgalley and Entangled Publishing. The opinions expressed are solely my own.

I found myself in the mood for a little romantic suspense and as luck would have it, Lock 'N' Load by Tee O'Fallon popped up in my Inbox. The first in the Federal K-9 series featuring agents and their K-9's O'Fallon provided a heartwarming, sexy, must-read romance with a suspenseful storyline. I cannot wait for the next book!

Well since my first review went into cyberspace and got lost, probably due to Trista's secret program, I'll keep this one brief.
Men in uniform -hot. Men in uniform with working dogs-hotter.
This is a great story full of suspense, intrigue and a man's struggle to put his past behind him, if he can. Trista was a joy. I loved her, brainiac, strong and deathly afraid of dogs, she learns to overcome her fear thanks to Matt and his K-9 Sheba. Sheba made the story so perfect. Matt did not however. I just couldn't seem to mesh him into the story, especially where Tris was concerned. His on again off again put me off as well.
I loved Tris, her sass and fearlessness. Her stammer when she got nervous around Matt, the attraction was there. Slow slow spark there. Matt gave me pause on several occasions in the book.
More than once I was right there with Tris wanting to rip him a new one. Wasn't just me, she felt the same way. The story took a nice shift when Matt's friends arrive with their dogs in tow on special assignment and I am hoping they get their own books.
This is a great story, well written and the twists you don't even see coming will keep you turning pages.

Tee O’Fallen is a new author for me, and Federal K-9 is her new series. A series I already know I’m going to be reading more of. In book 1 we meet CIA analyst Trista Gold, there’s not a lot she can’t do on a computer, she’s a whizz. Not so much in her personal life though, she’s not what you would call a people person, preferring the company of her cat ‘Poofy’ and her computer. CIA K-9 officer Sgt. Matt Connors doesn’t do relationships. After a tragedy when he was 16, he doesn’t allow himself the privilege of being happy, he doesn’t deserve to be. He does however take his job working for the CIA seriously, and when it comes to sweet, sexy Trista, after two attempts are made on her life, he makes it his mission to protect her personally. Not as easy as it seems for both of them, the attraction is real, but Matt is determined to deny it. I adored Matt and his band of merry men, hot, sexy, and with a love of dogs, ooh and let’s not forget the uniforms.
Wonderful writing, some fantastic characters with a story filled with so much intrigue and action. The full package. I loved it. I was provided with an advanced copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley. This is my honest review.

Fantastic first book in a series!

When you're a brilliant intelligence analyst who knows her own strengths and weaknesses it's hard to accept certain things. That someone might best her in her world, that the hot security guy might actually like her, or that she might one day like dogs is like believing in unicorns, it just isn't possible. Or is it?

When Matt, hot security guy at the CIA, and his K-9, Sheba help Trista Gold up from getting knocked over he knows he really likes her but he also knows two other things; she is petrified of dogs and she deserves better than him!

When Trista's world is soon turned upside down and Matt and Sheba save her life she finds out just how wrong she can be.

If you love a good action, spy thriller with a bit of love thrown in you'll love this book!

I received this ARC in exchange for an honest review.

I received an ARC copy of this book for my honest review. This was my first book by this author and I’m excited for more. The idea of a K-9 training alpha male was too good of a description to pass up and I can honestly say you won’t be disappointed. I thought Trista was a great female lead because she was smart, sassy, and really likeable. I thought her reaction to Matt was cute but loved how they both seemed to help each other with their demons. There’s plenty of sexual tension between the two but it’s a slow burn ,which is a nice change from most romance books now, and plenty of suspense and intrigue. I thought the pets were realistic and loved the idea of more (hopefully) to the series with Matt’s K-9 trainer friends. Great read that I would highly recommend you buy.

This was a fast paced romantic-suspense novel. The hero and heroine were both likeable and the K-9 stole the show. I would definitely like to read about the other guys and their dogs that were introduced in this book.

I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the book.

Lock N Loaded is the start of a Federal K-9 series. Readers are introduced to a handful of Alpha male characters and their K-9 animals. Each one with a purpose.
CIA analyst Trista Gold and CIA K-9 officer Sgt. Matt Connors are the first in this series. The story is very much a ugly ducking vs prince charming with Gun fire, dead bodies, fires and lots of lovable animals.
The story is fast pace, characters are well developed, everyone has a purpose and point in this story. Even as the story builds readers will find themselves surprised with the sweet moments that happen though out the book.
The story wraps up in a nice little bow with a lot of heart and soul and readers hoping for more from Tee O'Fallon.

This is a great beginning to this Federal K-9 series. Thank you to Netgalley and the Publisher Entangled Publishing, LLC (Amara) for the advance copy of Tee O'Fallon Lock N' Loaded

I enjoyed this read as Trista and Matt had great chemistry, I liked both characters and their steamy romance. Matt was a total alpha male, which I like in my reads. The addition of Matt's friends made the story better and I'm looking forward to some of their stories. The mystery of who is after Trista was interesting too and I never felt like the author dragged out who the villain was. I liked read and would recommend it.

A hunky guy with a sweet dog - what’s not to like? The heroine, Trista, is immediately attracted to Matt, the guard at the entrance to CIA HQ where she works. She’s a brainy computer analyst following Russian chatrooms. She uncovers a bit of puzzling dialogue and her life is rapidly threatened. Matt comes to her rescue a couple of times so he and his adorable dog, Sheba, are assigned to protect her. Matt is also attracted to her so sparks are flying. But Matt has problems allowing himself to be happy because of a tragedy that occurred in his youth. She’s insecure and can’t believe that such a good-looking guy would ever be serious about her. Well, he is, but he has to get over himself first. Oh, and they need to figure out who is trying to kill her and how to protect her.

There was a lot to like about the novel - it’s suspenseful, but not terribly suspenseful. My problem was that I didn’t understand why-Matt, a K-9 officer with an expensively trained dog is set checking passes at the door to the Agency?. Why would that be where they place the dog? If this guy has all this experience in the military and police, shouldn’t he be higher up than the guy at the door? And he has all these friends who are also specially trained K-9 officers with their own expensively trained dogs in various other agencies also be just glorified bodyguards. They’re supposedly in town and staying with Matt because there are lots of politicians in D.C. that they are protecting. Wouldn’t that be the job of the Secret Service? What event could there be that there would be such a need for protection for politicians that K-9 officers and their dogs would be pulled from their normal jobs and supplant the Secret Service? I know that these are minor quibbles, but I prefer my romance novels to be a bit more realistic.

I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.

Wow!!! This is a fast moving book that I absolutely loved! Matt is a K9 cop working at the CIA, where Trista is an analyst. They barely know each other, but, before long, Matt finds himself fighting to protect her and keep her safe - which would be much easier if he knew who he was protecting her from or why she needed protection.

The sparks flying from Matt and Trista were electric and I could practically feel the sizzle in my kindle. I loved them together and especially loved how they helped each other face their personal demons. Add in Sheba, the K9, and you've got all the elements for a great story. I particularly enjoyed learning more about police K9's and their training. I thought I knew all about them (my son is LEO training one), and the author managed to teach me even more about them in an engaging way.

If you enjoy romantic suspense, you will love this book. While this is the first book I've read by this author, it won't be the last as I've added her to my must read authors' list. I'm looking forward to future books in this series.

I loved this K-9 story. Plus getting to meet some of the guys that might be lead charters in future books is a plus.
Matt is super protective of Trista, even when he doesn't think he can have a life with her. He stops at nothing to keep her safe. Lock 'N' Load, is full of a lot of suspense and kept me guessing.
