A short and sweet romance; nothing too profound or complex. Felt more like a novella than a full-length romance. Sarah is forced by her parents to marry James, because James will take her without a dowry and pay off all of her father’s debts, which are numerous. James has wanted Sarah since first meeting her, though she was indifferent to him, not least because she was already understood to have an agreement with a neighbor, Robert. Robert casts her aside when he finds out about her father’s debts though, and she’s left heartbroken and determined to never trust another man (so sick of that trope, for both the hero and heroine).

James and Sarah have a strong physical connection from the beginning and despite their lack of intimacy outside the bedroom, inside it things go quite smoothly. James is uncertain in his new position as viscount and knows about the prior connection between Sarah and Robert and due to some misunderstandings, comes to believe his wife is still in love with him. Sarah, for her part, acts a little stupidly sometimes and doesn't try enough to set things right between them.

Much of the complication stemmed from misunderstandings, which are among my least favorite thing in romance books. Well I guess in all books, but they're more of an issue in romances than others.

Overall an inoffensive romance that I could take or leave.

Thank you to the publisher and NetGalley for an ARC of this book!

He would save her family from financial ruin due to her father’s need to gamble it all away. Marrying Sarah was all he ever wanted and he made sure to make his move before any other could ask for her hand. Sarah is not sure she happy being married since her heart was recently broken but she slowly warms up to James’ charms. Great story and absolutely love how they made a marriage of convenience work.

Loved Hathaway and Sarah. He's not your convential Viscount and she's doing what she has to. Their story is complex and full of miscommunication and misunderstanding. The story it self is entertaining and well written. I thoroughly enjoyed it.

One of my favorite things about this book was how Sarah came to understand James and how love grew. I was predisposed to like this story since this is my #1 favorite genre, historical romance set in 19th Century England. Shockingly, I have nothing negative to say about it. It was well written. The author knows this time period well. The 2 leads were very human and I liked them.

Lord Hathaway's New Bride is a great little novel. It does not start off in the typical romance novel way, by building up to the wedding, it starts right at the wedding! Sarah Mapleton finds herself compelled to marry James, Viscount Hathaway after her father has gambled away her dowry, and brought their family into incredible debt. Sarah has had her heart broke before, so vows not to let it happen again, but sometimes you just cant predict the feelings you will have for someone, no matter how hard you try.

I did really enjoy this book, it was filled with lots of passion, tenderness, love, even friendship. Sarah and James had many hurdles to jump before they could really come together, and it made you want to cheer for them and fight for them. Again great read, would definitely recommend it.

This was a great read, loved the characters the story and all the pages in between!!! I was glad to read she didn't hold out her emotions, that tends to be irksome to read. But the author did a great job pulling you in.

Hero marries heroine because she is pretty. Doesn't bother to get to know her before marrying her and yet is annoyed she isn't happy to marry a stranger, especially as she is nursing a broken heart. This has a weak plot and boring characters. Was the author on a tight deadline? Because I know she has done better.

A young woman is about to get married to a man she barely knows because he is to pay off her father's depths. Fact is that shortly before she hoped to get married to a long term friend of who ran off as soon as he heard of her father's depths.
Now going down the isle to a man she never really talked to, she doesn't know what to do beside never to fall in love with a man again.

He just got the title he never wanted and a wife he liked to look at. He isn't the brute people think him to be because of his sheer size.
He doesn't force her into anything but can he make her fall in love with him?

One afternoon at the beach and I finished this very hot, unfortunately too short, novel. I would have loved it being 400 pages for sure.

Sarah has only agreed to marry James, Lord Hathaway because her father insisted she help her family escape from debt. She once thought she would marry her childhood sweetheart, but he broke her heart. Now, she refuses to give her heart to another man.
James never expected to inherit his uncles title. He regularly doubts himself and he is desperate to secure his wife’s heart.
This is a quick gripping read. I was unable to put it down. The characters are engaging and there is a perfect balance between passion and angst. Ms. Medeiros takes a conventional plot and injects a breath of fresh air to it.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advance copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own. For more reviews please visit my blog:

**ARC received from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review**

Suzanna Medeiros is one of the best historical romance writers out there and Lord Hathaway's New Bride (Heirs series) certainly won't disappoint. It's a sweet but steamy story about a marriage between strangers that over time develops into true love. Engaging characters, unpredictable plot and steamy sex. What more do you need? A definite 4.5 stars.

Lord Hathaway’s New Bride by Suzanna Medeiros is book Two in the Hathaway Heirs series. This is the story of Sarah Mapleton and James, Viscount Hathaway. I haven't yet read the previous book but so for me this was a standalone book.
Sarah doesn't want to go through a heartbreak so she guards her heart with all her strength...and doesn't plan to change that when she has to marry James. But Sarah starts to learn quickly that James has a way of getting her to put her guard down...and now it may be to late to protect her heart. James has wanted Sarah from the first moment he met her and if he has to burn through her guard with passion to get to his most wanted prize from her he will.
Enjoyed reading their story and hope to read more books from this author soon.

I normally don't like novellas as they're usually too short to develop characters and plot sufficiently. However, I did enjoy this read. I thought the characters had great chemistry and I thought it was a sweet but passionate read. If you're looking for a nice, quick summer read, this one is it!

Lord Hathaway's New Bride by Suzanna Medeiros is yet, another amazing story in her "Hathaway's Heirs,#2", but can read as a stand alone. This is the story of Sarah Mapleton and James, Viscount Hathaway and a marriage of convenience. A Novella.
Steady paced, masterfully written with interesting and engaging characters. The plot is unpredictable, intriguing with misunderstandings, secrets, steamy passion, jealousy with a HEA.

A captivating story where James sets out to win Sarah’s heart but loses his own along the way.
Ms. Medeiros writes captivating storylines with passion, and engaging characters and romance. Impressive story, which captured my heart, James and Sarah's story was a bit frustrating at times, but they finally come to terms with their feelings. Fans of Regency Romance, passionate kisses, marriage of convenience and greatplots will enjoy LORD HATHAWAY'S NEW BRIDE.
I received a complimentary copy, however, all opinions are my own.

Sarah Mapleton is forced into a marriage of convenience after her father gambled away her inheritance. James Hathaway unexpectedly inherited his uncle’s title, but now the one thing he has his eye on is Lady Sarah. He knew as a commoner her father would never consider him for her husband. Sarah has vowed to never love again, one heart break was enough for her, but James wants her love and begins his campaign to win her over first in the bedroom with passion. A truly captivating story where James sets out to win Sarah’s heart and loses his own along the way. You will not disappointed as these young love blooms into them finding their happy ever after and a love they can’t deny!!! This is my honest opinions after I voluntarily read a copy of this book that was provided to me with no requirements for a review.

A fun romance. A different scenario for the characters than the norm, which was refreshing. Will be recommending for summer read lists and for a slight change up in Regency romance.

This book was an unexpected surprise. Not many books start out with the man knowing he wants his lady and will do anything to have her. When Sarah agrees to marry James to save her family from the debt's of her father, she doesn't expect to ever fall in love. When she discovers James is not all like what she expects, love blooms. A great read that you will truly enjoy.

Sarah has problems, a father who has gambled his family into deep debt and a marriage that will fix that. A marriage she doesn't want because there was an understanding that she would marry another but he thinks Sarah is not good enough. Viscount Hathaway is approached by Sarah's father and he is agreeable to the marriage. Lord Hathaway had land and wealth, and now has "the one thing he’d recently discovered he desired beyond all else— his new wife" There may not be love but Sarah is prepared to do her wifely duties. Lord Hathaway shows Sarah passion that she didn't know existed. Her ex is prepared to become Sarah's lover since she is now rich and off the market. Will passion be enough? Will Sarah decide to take a lover? In this sexy part two of the series The Hathaway heirs, there is intrigue, passion and love. Will definitely read the rest of the series. I received this book from Net Galley and the publisher for an honest review.

I really enjoyed Sarah and James story!

This was a quick, throughly enjoyable read! Sarah has agreed to marry James to save her mother and brother. Having already been in love once and gotten her heart broken, she has decided that she won't let her heart get engaged during her marriage. But having already fallen for her, James will do anything that he can to have his loved returned. Can he get the HEA that he desires?

This was a great addition to the Hathaway Heirs series!
