I really wanted to like Arresting Mason but the story is what it is. Everything was really over the top to the point the story get lost and readers find themselves skipping pages. This readers felt a little lost on where this series is going but I would be willing to try another story by the same author.
Thank you to Netgalley for the advance copy
I really enjoyed the ex-con storyline in this one. It's not your typical story and while some parts feel a little drawn out or overdone, it's a fast paced read that is sweet, sexy, and enjoyable.
This was my first book from Amber Daulton and I"ll be looking for more.
Mia Eddison nearly runs over Mason Harding. This may have been the best mistake of her life. One look at Mason and Mia is smitten! His reaction is quite the same. Mason knows that he wants to be with her, but can sense almost immediately that he wants much more than a fling, but he has secrets. He is an ex-con. However, that is not all.
Admittedly, Mia is shocked by what Mason reveals, but, she is not put off. The question is, what will she do when she discovers that he has not admitted even darker secrets of his past, especially when it will most certainly impact their lives now, and possibly their future together? Also, what about the fact that her brother is not only a parole officer, but his parole officer?
This romance by Amber Daulton will be sure to grab your attention as Mason works hard to escape the clutches of his past. Mia is great in her role as the female protagonist in this story. I enjoyed trying to figure out how the drama was to unfold. This is book one in the Arresting Onyx series.
Many thanks to The Wild Rose Press, Inc., and to NetGalley for this book to review.
This was my first experience reading this author's work and I really enjoyed this suspenseful contemporary romance. Mason is an ex-con who is easy to love because of his protective nature and alpha personality. I think Mia is the real hero (or heroine as it may be) in this book -- I love a strong, determined female lead and she definitely is! I found the criminal background interesting and informative without being tedious and boring. Very good read -- would definitely recommend!
A somewhat romance with drama and action.
Wasn't really my kind of romance story.
About Mason an Ex con and MIA the girl who almost ran him over, that when the story begins.
This book opens with Mason Harding on his way to meet his parole officer. He is then nearly struck by a car driven by a beautiful who is upset that she almost hit him. Mason though is able to calm her down and agree to meet for dinner later in the week. After his meeting with his parole officer he can’t wait the few days for dinner. Mia Eddison is excited to finally be going out again since her divorce, and Mason is one hot guy. She cannot get over how she is attracted to him, this has never happened to her before and she is just hopping all goes well at dinner. After dinner things begin to heat up and when they take it to her place Mason stops everything and starts to tell her that he is a parolee, what he did, how long he was in for and any other questions she has. Mia is grateful but then wants to get back to the business at hand. After a very, very good night she figures on making breakfast when her pain of a brother shows up wanting breakfast as well. Working at trying to get him out of her place everything takes a turn when he sees his parolee Mason standing there. You got the makings of a very good story, but this book only gets better from there. You have her confront Mason at his place of work which is a great scene, and then you have his old gang getting back at him with taking her. So as you can see there is a lot going on in this book but author makes it all work. The ending will have you on your seat and you are in for a very good read with this book.
This was an okay read. I thought things happened too quickly to be believable for Mia and Mason. There were parts I thought Mason was a jerk, especially in his internal thoughts in the beginning. I didn't hate Mia, but I didn't love her character either. There was good action in the story in terms of villains. This was well-written but it was a miss for me.
