Another winner!! I love the Dr. Evelyn Talbot series and this one didn't disappoint. I am even more excited to see that the series will continue and can't wait for the next one to come out. Thank you #netgalley and #stmartinspress for the eARC.
Let me first start by saying that I was so excited to receive this book to review! I love Brenda Novak's books! If you have read the others in this series this was a great book just like the others....Her writing and the intensity of the story made me read long into the night...Loved the ending with Amarok and Evelyn. Hope there will be more in this series...
Excellent 4th book in the Dr. Evelyn Talbot series, one of my favorite series by Ms, Novak. Dr. Talbot is living in a small community in Alaska with the only law enforcement officer, and running the prison for psychopaths Hanover House. She has tried hard to overcome the trauma of being attacked and left for dead by her boyfriend Jasper when she was 16 years old. Unbeknownst to her, Jasper has changed his appearance and identity and is living and working very close to her. While he does continue to murder innocent women while he waits for his opportunity to kidnap (and kill) Dr. Talbot, evidence that implicates him in these murders surface. There is a shocking twist and the ending is brilliant. I am delighted there will be another book. Thank you NetGalley, St. Martin's Press and the Author for allowing me to read and review this book.
Great continuation in the series!
I’ve always wanted to visit Alaska, but after reading Face Off by Brenda Novak, I’m pretty sure I’ll be avoiding this state!
Lots of creepy atmosphere and building of tension.
Will our heroin survive or will her greatest nemesis finally have his day?
I recommend this series to anyone who likes a suspense with just the right romance thrown in. Can’t wait for the next book!
Wow is all I can say. Brenda keeps the reader wanting to turn the page till the last page has been read. This is the 4th installment of Evelyn Talbot( if you count the novella) The hunt is still on to find the Jasper the serial killer who terrorized Evelyn since she was a teenager and twenty plus years later has not be found. Leland and his sister Sierra along with their two friends have come to Alaska for hunting. Sierra is more interesting in the views than the hunt and so she stays in the cabin while her brother and his friends go hunting. While she is waiting she finds out a storm is coming and begins to worry about her brother and his friends. She goes in search for wood in an area adjacent to their cabin to keep the fireplace and the cabin warm when she stumbles upon a body: so begins this novel where now the people of hilltop have to worry about murders again after eight months from the last murders. This novel kept me in awe and shocked as page after page like lightning round so many variables and things happening . There is not a dull or lagged moment in the novel we see Evelyn interviewing her latest serial killer her first woman at the facility and at the same time trying to keep abreast about updates about Jasper. Her love Amarok wondering if this new killer is truly Jasper coming to kill Evelyn finally. Both Amarok and Evelyn race again time as pertinent clues arises to let them know for sure that Jasper is in the area and when and if they will be able to stop him. A truly stellar storyline a series that keeps getting better. Review on goodreads and amazon.
This is not my favorite series by Brenda Novak but I did enjoy it. It had lots of action and lots of twist and turn.
Evelyn Talbot studies serial killers for a living. After barely surviving her own encounter with a monster at age sixteen, she has made it her life’s work to try to figure out how to stop them. She’s been living in Alaska at Hanover House working at a psychiatrist there for a few years now. She believes her work is academic, but it becomes anything but when a woman in the area disappears, and all signs point to the same man who attacked Evelyn all those years ago. Evelyn’s boyfriend, also the only local cop finds not just one body, but two. Could it be Jasper Moore, Evelyn’s attacker? The man was never caught and it appears he may have returned to finish the job he started years before. I have read Brenda Novak’s books for years and her attention to detail and character development is second to none. And she writes a hell of a scary story
