264 Pages
Publisher: Llewellyn Worldwide, Llewellyn Publications
Release Date: September 8, 2018
Nonfiction (Adult), Religion, Spirituality, Supernatural Entities
Shadow people, Slenderman, Mothman, Goatman, Bigfoot, Vampires, Lilith, Men (and Women) in Black, Black eyed children. These are some of the topics the author details in this book. He also includes information on Wilhem Reich who conducted experiences on subjects. He attached electricity to their genitals to measure the amount of energy emitted. He believed this energy attracted these beings. He also believed this was one reason these beings were frequently seen in lovers’ lane locations. He also talks about how believing in these beings gives them power.
This is a very interesting book. It is well researched and well written. My husband and I have watched the author appear on Ancient Aliens and other History channel shows for years. He is very knowledgeable on these topics and more. If you are interested in supernatural beings, you will enjoy reading this book.
If you are into supernatural subjects then you will enjoy this book. It covers lots of different subjects like Bigfoot, Men In Black, Black Eyed Children, Aliens and other subjects. The theories that the author comes up with are quite amazing.
I have listened to and watched Nick Redfern for years but this is the first book of his I've read. His knowledge of the paranormal and cryptozoology world is immense and that is conveyed in this well researched book. If you're looking for ghost stories you won't find them here. This is a brilliantly put together collection of the stranger creatures such as Bigfoot, Slenderman and The Black Eyed Children. Reading this may set you on a quest to find out more about these strange beings.
If you're not well-educated about creepy and unnatural things, don't worry. Paranormal Parasites reads astute observations and eery case studies as if Stephen King had gotten behind the wheel and whispered to the author, "No, no, no. We want to scare their pants off, so mention this and that." Thoroughly a great read all-in-all, Redfern did an excellent job at shining the light on darker things which might lurk about in the dark. Naturally, everything in it should be taken with a hint of salt as to their legitimacy, but if you're like me you've been more eager to read something scary as hell than to worry about factual nonsense. Everything at the end of the day is perceivable truth, but don't let Nick's voice go by unheard.
If you are into supernatural subjects then you will enjoy this book. It covers lots of different subjects like Bigfoot, Men In Black, Black Eyed Children, Aliens and other subjects. The theories that the author comes up with are quite amazing.
Basically, this book attempts to warn humans that they are being farmed like cattle across planet Earth as food for energy entities, inter-dimensional and extraterrestrial, who wish to eat souls. Redfern, author of 30+ books on UFOs, Bigfoot, and cryptozoology, takes readers through the minutia of anecdotal evidence for cryptids, some timeworn, a bit somewhat newer, all of it always fun and interesting. The book begins with an explanation of supernatural energy, or orgone, as defined by Wilhelm Reich, and immediately launches into soul stealing creatures from around the world. It’s hard to tell if Redfern is writing tongue-in-cheek, or in full belief; Llewellyn is the publisher—the latter is more likely. As with inexplicably grainy (in this day and age of technology?) videos of cryptids, so the personal stories, including those of alleged personnel of mysterious / forbidden locations, such as Area 51 (according to Redfern, there’s a secret facility miles underground in New Mexico), border on requiring suspension of belief. Silently dismissing mental illness or other more pragmatic sources, the author relays seemingly supernatural events as fact. Even with prior knowledge of the medical condition behind experiences of succubi and incubi, the chapters on these sexually demanding night creatures are disturbingly realistic. However, mythological lore is explored through the story of Lilith, who links Paganism, Judaism, and Christianity, as a relevant dark, feminine archetype. The highlight of the book is the concept of a tulpa, an entity created by focused energy of a group of people, with Slenderman being the most well known. Readers who accept spiritual entities for granted will be scared out of their wits by this book. Others who take it with a grain of salt will appreciate it for further forays into global legends, myths, and folklore. I was fortunate to receive an early copy of this fascinating book from the publisher #Lewellyn through #NetGalley.
Author and investigator of the weird, Nick Redfern is back with a new collection with his book Paranormal Parasites: The Voracious Appetites of Soul-Sucking Supernatural Entities. Redfern has done his time with the world of weird, with several books on the Men in Black, Chupacabras, and time on the shows Monster Quest and Paranormal. Though British in origin, he now lives in Dallas, Texas. His new book acts a compendium of the paranormal creatures that may or may not be feeding off on the energies of humanity.
Paranormal Parasites divides into small sections, each describing a different creature or incident that ties into the concept of energy eating entities. Of course you'll find vampires and chupacabras, as well as inccubi and succubi. The book also devotes sections to the Black Eyed Children phenomena and the concern of whether or not Slenderman has become a Tulpa in modern days. If all of those terms made sense to you, this book is going to be a quick breeze and mostly a rehash of information you already know. If you have no idea what any of the above meant, you're going to be getting a ton of new information thrown at you. Therein lies the problem; if you have every book on paranormal you can get your hands on and are addicted to podcasts like Astonishing Legends, this is going to feel like everything you've read before. You may find yourself going, "yes, but what about" many times while reading if you've spent a fair amount of time reading and researching the realm of the weird. Paranormal Parasites, however, is an awesome book for readers who want a collection of stories and brief nibbles of the paranormal to get their feet wet.
Paranormal Parasites: The Voracious Appetites of Soul-Sucking Supernatural Entities is available September 8th from Llewellyn Press.
Thanks to NetGalley for this ARC in exchange for an honest review
Quick overhaul of this book, it talks about all kinds of different 'monsters' and how they feed off of us. My favorite part were the Black Eyed Children (they're pictured on the cover), I've long since been creeped out but enthralled by them. It also talks about Slenderman which is one of those cases that prove our thoughts are more powerful than we think. I loved the stories that went along with each of the monsters, some gave me chills and I had to stop reading until it was daylight again, which is how I like my creepy stories! Overall, this book is awesome!
Will go live on my blog; 9/4/2018
An intriguing book which was by turns, creepy and definitely scary. I truly believe that there are things out there that are mysterious and frightening. A very good book that I happened to read in one sitting. I voluntarily read this book via NetGalley in exchange for my honest opinion.
Thank you to the publisher and Netgalley for the chance to read this book!
Argh, in some places this was downright scary! I felt the hairs on the back of neck rise and I haven't ever experienced anything remotely similar to what some of the people had. Basically, if you're looking for a book to scare the pants off you while presenting things just simply as the author and others have experienced, then this is the paranormal book for you. I've read many books on similar subjects, but the idea of the energy sucking Supernatural was new to me in this form. It added extra dimensions and new concepts to ideas I thought I'd read everything about.
The writing is of excellent quality too; matter-of-fact and not delving too close to personal. The author spends just enough time on subjects so as to not bore the reader, although there were times I wished things were better explained. I guess Nick needs another book! ;)
A great book on the subject, highly recommend. Five stars.
I highly recommend this book for the paranormal lover. The writing is excellent. The story keeps you interested. Nick Redfern keeps producing excellent books.
Very, very interesting book. I really enjoyed the first chapter about different life forces which leads into different creatures that feed on them. When we think of different types of monsters , we should be aware.that they are real in one form or another. A lot of things that I have read about were clarified and explained. If anyone has an interest in the supernatural, they should read this. The things you hear go bump in the night could be more than a noise.. I was very excited to read this boook. I loved it. I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review. No compensation was given
