Ella Beaudreaux, recently divorced from a controlling brute, is the unwanted quarter owner of the Abbott Brothers Garage. She wanted this investment because it brings back happy memories of her childhood with her deceased older brother. She knows she is strong enough to withstand the negative energy she feels from Mack Abbott when she walks into the garage. Too bad for Mack! He will just have to get over it. What she isn't prepared for is her attraction to Mack. That isn't part of her game plan.

Mack Abbott is still upset that his older brother, Ford sold his share of the garage to an outsider. He wants to do whatever he can to come up with the money to buy Ella out and get the garage back under sole ownership of the Abbott brothers. Mack isn't at all prepared for the attraction he feels for Ella. This is so not in his game plan.

I loved all the fun encounters between Ella and Mack, some sweet and some strong disagreements, in the build up of their relationship. I also really liked that they seemed to easily trust each other and that shocked them both. I enjoy getting to read about heroes and heroines who are committment-phobes who end up getting together and have a HEA. It usually seems as though their relationship is a big surprise. What Fun!

Set the Night On Fire by Laura Trentham is the sixth book in author Laura Trentham'sCottonwood series - a great addition to the series. I highly recommend it.

How does one define this book? Romance? Definitely, but it’s so much more. There is a good helping of humour (just take the odd friendship between Ella and Megan), both in the dialogue and resulting events. The romance built up in spite of the main characters, and the attraction between two strong people had one rooting for them. There is suspense and some drama, but mostly it was a book about coming to terms with the past, reconciliation and a caring community looking after its own. The book is well written and the author carries the reader from one chapter to the next in anticipation and expectation of what is going to happen next. I loved both Mack and Ella and that despite their inner vows, they found themselves thawing. It was a delight to meet up with characters from previous books in the series, particularly the twins. But most of all I was glad to see the resolution of the past. Although this book is part of a series and characters from previous books appear in this one too, it is nevertheless a standalone and can be read as such. The novel comes to a delightful ending with an epilogue that warms the heart. I received a copy of this book from NetGallery and this is my honest and voluntary review.

I love this little town of Cottonbloom and this fantastic book reminded me exactly why. Fun and maybe slightly crazy characters, strong family bonds, and exciting passionate romances are just a few of the reasons. In this book we meet Ella Boudreaux. The woman who bout a portion of the Abbott's garage. She faces off with Mack Abbott when she decides to move to Cottonbloom for a fresh start after an ugly divorce. He doesn't want her anywhere near his garage and he definitely doesn't want her involved in his business. She may not know a lot about repairing cars but she knows business if she can only get Mack to listen to her ideas. The last thing Mack wants is to actually like Ella but her determination and long sexy legs make her hard to resist. Don't miss this one as things heat up in the garage. I highly recommend this one.

Set the Night on Fire is a heartwarming but still sexy “enemies to lovers” story. This Cottonbloom Novel by Laura Trentham has all the right fixings for a perfect beach or pool or anytime read. The chemistry between and fireworks make Ella Boudreaux and Mack Abbott’s story a hit. Then there is the ever-present nosiness, meddling and help of family and community that makes any visit to Cottonbloom fun.

I must say that Ella buying into the Abbott Brothers Garage came as a surprise, but really, she fits there pretty well, in spite of Mack’s initial opinion. This couple was equal in their stubbornness, determination and sheer gutsiness, making their attraction even more entertaining to watch. Starting over has never been so amusing.

The entire series is wonderful, with Mack’s story an addition to it. Small town romance readers will love the series and especially Set the Night on Fire.

Two hurting hearts give each other the strength to heal

Although this is the latest in a series, it works perfectly as a standalone. Mack has watched his two younger brothers find their forever loves, but he’s convinced that he’s too much like his father for that to happen to him. Ella has just come out of an abusive marriage, so she’s definitely not looking to find herself under anyone’s control ever again. These two start out on the defensive as enemies, but circumstances force them to work together for a while, during which Ella discovers that not all men are like her ex while Mack discovers that maybe he can learn to love something other than the garage.

Ella is a delightful character with an inner strength that she uses to support and encourage everyone around her. Mack is deliciously gruff and bossy, dominant in all the best ways while still being a perfect gentleman at heart. Mack has some family issues to work through and there’s a bit of drama connected to Ella’s ex, but the heart of this book is the growing trust between these two as they form an unbreakable partnership.

I thoroughly enjoyed this wonderful romance. The love scenes were explicit enough without being overly so, and the absence of f-bombs was refreshing. The author’s writing style brilliantly evokes the entire emotional spectrum, bringing the reader into the hearts and minds of the main characters without unnecessary navel-gazing. You could almost feel the love growing and taking root in Mack’s and Ella’s hearts. The HEA was the perfect answer to all the conflict. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.

I've been long awaiting Mack's story. He's the gruff Abbott brother, but I was right he's just a giant alpha teddy bear disguised as a grizzly. Ella was the unknown going in, but I loved her. She's strong, independent and not afraid to get dirty. Mack and Ella's chemistry could light a massive bonfire. As always the secondary characters compliment the story perfectly with perfect timing.

I have read every book in the Cottonbloom series by Laura Trentham and I have yet to be disappointed. If you love steamy southern romances with a touch of suspsense then I highly recommend Set the Night on Fire and the entire Cottonbloom series!

This one might just be my favourite Cottonbloom book starring the Abbott brothers. It was perfection from start to end!

I simply adored these two leads. Ella is the type of heroine you love to see in a book. She's strong yet genuinely flawed so she's relateable. I found her emotions and reactions to things were normal and understandable. I had a really good read of her as a character thanks to her development and her revealed past.

Mack is just a sweetheart--and it was nice to see that side of him because for the vast majority of this series, he comes across as jaded and withdrawn. But you see the love he has for his family and his ability to read and understand people. He was so perceptive about Ella's fears and concerns and I LOVED how he supported her throughout.

The pacing of this romance was also fantastic. You have the whole slow burn between two rivals happening and it just brought some delicious tension to the story. Over time, these two start to talk and learn more about each other and it just makes their physical connection that much hotter. I was definitely a fan of these two from the start.

Finally, I thought this book struck the right balance between the plot and romance. We get to see these two work on their own relationship while also tying up those lose ends of their respective stories. So there is never a dull moment to be had!

Fans of the series will love this final (?) instalment and those new to the series will definitely be backtracking to get more of this delightfully entertaining town.

I received a free, advance copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley in exchange for my unbiased review.

The thing that i like about this book, is how Mack started the healing process..or rather how he ended what the twins have started...

Ella, has this independent thing going on that it made her doubt any man no, person who does something good to her with their motives. However, everyone needs someone to lean on to. Her personality is something that i really like, there are no frills with her.

Mack on the other hand? The two of them have something in common, but they click. And it was a so beautiful to watch them fall for each other.

With every pain the people we love gave us, there is always a lasting scar that not all can see. Physical pain can be mended, but the ones that we cannot see are the hardest to heal. They say times heals all wounds, but in reality, not matter how much time pass, if you cannot over come the pain, the hurt, the betrayal, and the suffering, you can never heal. It takes more than time to be whole again.

Looking forward to reading the other books in the series.

A new to me author laura Trentham. A good book, Set The Night on Fire. Even though I liked the storyline and characters. I would have enjoyed the book more if I had read the other books in the series before hand to get more of the back story

Looking at the covers of Laura Trentham’s Cottonbloom series, you would be tricked into thinking that they are about lazy summer nights and sweet and innocent romance stories. And even though they are sweet, they are in no way ordinary or boring. “Set the Night on Fire” will do more than just set the night on fire, it will literally set you on fire and have your pulse racing. There are few things that are as delicious as having a hate relationship morph into a steamy attraction that leads to love. Ella and Mack may have started on the wrong foot, but the sparks which we witnessed in the previous book of the series, burn even brighter and hotter in this book and we find ourselves breathlessly anticipating the moment in which Ella and Mack finally give into their primal urges ;)

Ella has grown up feeling inferior to the men in her life. After a traumatising childhood and even worse marriage, she has finally found her voice and her strength. And even though she may seem like the last person to belong in a greasy garage, this is the only place where she feels safe and connected to her late brother. The only obstacle in her way is the second Abbott brother and his stubborn determination to keep the garage strictly in the family.

Mack Abbott’s biggest nightmare came true when his big brother Ford sold his fourth of the garage to a stranger. What’s worse is that their new partner is a divorcee with absolutely no idea about cars. She may have a backbone of steel and the body of a goddess but she doesn’t belong in his garage and he is willing to do anything to buy back her shares.

The sexual chemistry and the tension is palpable in this steamy romance. Mack may be all roar and gruffness on the outside, but he is a good and honest man. Unlike Ella’s ex-husband, Mack definitely doesn’t need to prove his strength and power by intimidating a woman. My heart broke for Ella and her need to constantly defend herself to the world. To show everyone that she is more than just a pretty face and has the smarts to back up her looks. I really hope that Laura Trentham will reconsider her decision on writing Ford’s story. Only a very special and remarkable woman will be able to capture a man like Ford’s heart... Hope that there will be more books in this steamy series!!!

SET THE NIGHT ON FIRE – Laura Trentham
A Cottonbloom Novel
St. Martin’s
ISBN: 978-1-250-13130-0
August 2018
Contemporary Romance

Cottonbloom, Mississippi – Present Day

Mack Abbott is furious that his oldest brother, Ford, sold his share of the family’s auto body shop to socialite Ella Boudreaux, who he is sure has no knowledge of how their business is run. One day Ella shows up at the shop and Mack challenges her to change the oil on a car after she indicates she knows more about cars than he thinks. She accepts the challenge, but the truth of the matter is that she only has rudimentary knowledge. But Ella will do whatever it takes to win over the Abbott brothers…especially hardnosed Mack. Will Ella prove to Mack that she deserves to be a part of the business, or will she be forced to admit defeat and sell her share back to the Abbott family?

Ella is business savvy and sees the Abbott’s garage as another business opportunity for her to invest in. She is divorced, having left her husband after he slept with her best friend and she moved to Cottonbloom to start over. She doesn’t know many people in town but the Abbott family is well respected. After her confrontation with Mack, he grudgingly starts to accept her…a little. But sparks also have started to fly between them. Both are single and unattached…will these sparks lead to a conflagration that will be hard to put out?

Mack and his brothers, Wyatt and Jackson, took over the auto body shop from their father and have built it into a successful business. Their oldest brother, Ford, never really took a shine to the shop and has moved on, but not before he sold his share to Ella. The brothers plan to buy her share as soon as they can get the money together. Yet, the moment Ella walks into the shop she proves that she might fit in. Her plan is to set up the books and get their finances organized. Wyatt and Jackson soon accept Ella, but Mack is a different story…

Meanwhile, Ella arrives home one day to find her ex’s current wife (and her ex-best friend) on her doorstep. It seems Megan has had enough of the ex and needs to get away also. Ella knows her ex is a controlling jerk and Megan can do better without him, but is this any of her business? Yet, Ella and Megan are soon bonding. Will Megan end up staying in Cottonbloom?

Ella and Mack start out as adversaries in SET THE NIGHT ON FIRE but there are soon sexual vibes humming between them. Mack thinks getting involved with Ella is a bad thing, yet he can’t keep his hands off her. Ella thinks his hands are a mighty nice thing…

In SET THE NIGHT ON FIRE there is lots of sexual tension between Ella and Mack before they finally do the deed. Ella came from nothing and married a man who likes his money…and women. But the moment he cheated on her, she divorced him and got a nice settlement in return. What people don’t realize is that Ella is smart in business and she helped her ex make his money. Now Ella’s business plans are to turn the Abbott garage into another success. Mack thinks she’s an airhead. How will he react when he realizes that he is wrong?

While it might help a little to have read the prior books in the Cottonbloom series by Laura Trentham, SET THE NIGHT ON FIRE can be read as a standalone without too much difficulty. This tale is about the romance between Mack and Ella as they fight their attraction for each other. Of course, it’s going to be a lost cause. Grab a copy of SET THE NIGHT ON FIRE for an entertaining and sizzling read that you won’t want to miss.

This book has a few “open door” sex scenes and very few (maybe one or two?) f-bombs. Neither thing overwhelms the story, so no worries there. This is the third book in the Cottonbloom series but it completely stands alone. While you *do not* have to read the previous books to follow and enjoy this story, having read them will help add a little bit more to the story here.

After having read (and loved) the previous books, I was worried that my expectations were too high and that this one was going to be a let down, but it was wonderful and Mack was everything that I wanted him to be. Grumpy, gruff, and a bit of a jerk at times, but with a heart of solid gold that was undeniable. Mack was exactly the kind of hero that I love to read about, and watching him fall – without his permission - for Ella was incredibly perfect. What I didn't expect was how much I would identify with Mack as I read. At times I found it hard to take a deep breath as I was reading because I really felt what Mack was thinking down to my bones. And although I wasn't sure what to think of Ella and her unceremonious introduction in the last book, I found myself rooting for her so hard while I was reading this story. She didn't let Mack's grump dissuade her from her plans, and she never backed down. Even her relationship with Megan showed how strong she was because I would never have been able to be as gracious as she was. The best part of the book was how these two characters came together. Although the attraction was pretty quick, the relationship blossomed and grew organically in a way that felt so real and so sweet. Even while they were arguing and making each other crazy, they were furthering their relationship and I loved that.

Once again, the cast of characters in Cottonbloom were phenomenal. Adding so much to this story without overwhelming or overshadowing it. I loved The Aunts and the part that they played in this story, and of course the Abbott brothers. *SPOILERS TO END OF PARAGRAPH* To my surprise, I even found myself falling for Ford. I really hope that, at some point down the road, his redemption story is told because I honestly believe that story could be Ms. Trentham's best ever. Plus, he deserves a happily ever after.

And that epilogue? It was so perfect.

I would highly recommend this book to anyone who as read the previous Abbott brother books, or to anyone who just enjoys a really well-written enemies to lovers story. This book is excellent.

5 STARS!

I've read the previous books in this series and my first thoughts before diving into this one was, "Now we get dark, broody, and bearded Mack's story! Yum! I mean, yay! I've enjoyed each book in this series and the set-up from the previous story was a delicious teaser to this third Abbott Brother novel. It spurred my reading anticipation for Mack's romance and the fate of the Abbott brother's business.

First and foremost, I love this author's writing style. She writes sensitive story lines with descriptive and elegant prose, as well as intelligent syntax and vocabulary. This story especially highlighted her writing finesse. I knew I was going to enjoy Mack's story, but it exceeded my expectations. I've truly enjoyed all of the Abbott brothers, but I'm head over heels for Mack. His brooding maleness (and that beard!) was a big attraction. I wrongly assumed Mack would also be all alpha male. I couldn't have been more wrong, because Mack was all beta beautiful - strong, protective, noble, and a little shy. Perfect for Ella Boudreaux. This heroine also became a favorite from the series with her fierce strength, intuitive mind, and vulnerable empathy. Along with a favorite enemies-to-lovers trope, Set the Night on Fire was a wonderfully romantic slow-burn romance in this final Abbott Brothers story. The overarching secondary story lines wrapped up nicely, as well and provided some of the most emotional moments from the series. The bond between these brothers was never more apparent than in the sweet epilogue revolving around the day of Wyatt and Sutton's wedding. It brought tears to my eyes.

I just love books where characters are so much more than they appear, and Set the Night On Fire delivers an enemies to lovers romance that proves that perception isn’t always reality, especially when the heart gets involved.

There is so much truth that you shouldn’t judge someone until you get to know them, and this is just the case for both Ella and Mack. Ella has recently arrived in Cottonbloom and does nothing to dispel the rumors that she is living off the settlement from her divorce, even though that is far from the truth. She’s finally in a good place and has put the wreck of her marriage behind her, grown stronger from the scars it caused, and has learned to stand up for herself. Mack runs the Abbott Brothers Garage with his brothers and is seen as gruff and a bit rough around the edges. He’s felt the pressure of keeping the garage afloat since his father passed and has little time to enjoy life, especially when he feels the weight of his family’s world on his shoulders. When Ella buys a 25% stake in his family’s business Mack can’t wait to buy her out and get her out of his life –and watching these two square up against each other was a lot of fun, especially when it’s clear they are also fighting a very strong attraction to one another as well.

One thing I really loved about both Ella and Mack was their giving, caring, and protective nature. They both showed that it didn’t matter who you were or how well they might have known you, they both would go out of their way to help. From the fundraiser that Ella plans to Mack’s protective nature when Ella’s ex shows up, these two were just genuinely nice people.

This is the first I’ve read in this series and I have fallen in love with the quirky town of Cottonbloom. From the dual nature of the town to the colorful residents, this town won me over just as much as Ella and Mack did. There is a story behind everyone and everything in town and I can’t wait to read more in this series.

I really enjoyed the author’s writing style – the book was easy to read and the plot flowed smoothly. There was great dialogue between the characters and there was a wonderful interplay between the characters, especially when it came to some of the more emotionally charged scenes.

Even though this is part of a series this can be read as a standalone – one that I would highly recommend.

I have been in love with the Abbott brothers from the first I met them. I knew Mack's book was going to be sizzling hot yet emotional just because who he is, and boy did the story deliver the goods. I am still swooning over Mack and Ella!
Ella Boudreaux is a self-made woman, who knows what she wants and is not afraid to stand up for herself or go after what her heart desires. This was not always so, she had to learn it the hard and painful way, leaving scars to her mind and to her heart. But she knows now what to do when the doubts and insecurities start to rise in her mind. She has a big heart of gold, she is generous, kind, considerate, and sweet. Yet she can kick arse if needed, she is tough, resilient, patience, passionate, with a quick temper and stubbornness only to match Mack Abbott's.
Mack has been holding everything together since his father passed away and the business was divided for the brothers. He is a loving and caring worrier, a protector of what he considers his. He has so many layers hidden under the gruff and tough exterior. His kindness, tenderness, sweetness, and happiness when around Ella just melted my heart. He is so supportive, encouraging, uplifting with her, it was beautiful, just amazingly adorable.
The adoration and attraction between Ella and Mack is like a lightning bolt, the way they learned each other, their weaknesses, their strengths, their past pain and future hopes, along with the loving yet blazing hot physical connection and exploration, the depth of the emotion and feels from each scene with Ella and Mack just blew me away.
Mack has had a lot to deal with since his parent's divorce. The way their father brought the brothers up built up walls that have to come down for their peace of mind. The troubles with Ford and their mother has to be solved for life to move on. Mack has to find the understanding and forgiveness and the courage in his heart to make peace for the whole family, to start building it up instead of tearing it down.
I loved this story so much, it was hard to put down, even at the end. Mack and Ella have to go through a whirlwind of emotions, changes, and growth to find their fragile balance, and even then it could be blown away by careless situations. The story has such a smooth, effortless flow, it pulled me in from the first, and help me captivated throughout. A wonderful, passionate, emotional addition to the series that all romance readers will enjoy, adore, and swoon over

Set the Night on Fire by Laura Trentham is Book 6 of 6 in the Cottonbloom series. The tagline says “Cottonbloom is the perfect place for starting over, finding your way back home--and falling head over heels. . .” This book is the first time I have visited Cottonbloom, and it stands alone just fine. But after finishing I want to go back to the first 5 books and learn the beginning of everyone else’s story, too.

Set the Night on Fire is Ella and Mack’s story. Ella comes back to Cottonbloom to heal and start over. Mack is desperate to retain control of the family business. They each feel they have a lot to prove to family, friends, and foes - that they can do what they set out to do and that they haven’t made any mistakes that can’t be fixed. Ella and Mack are both determined and strong-willed, to put it mildly, and at cross-purposes from the beginning. But the attraction between them is undeniable. And what makes this such a delightful love story is the expert way author Laura Trentham mixes heat and fun.

The heat is definitely there. Even though they are constantly clashing and wary of one another, they are also drawn seemingly beyond their control to each other. And just when you think you might explode from the heat something sweet or funny happens. Who could resist Ella’s description of Mack’s unexpectedly lovely, complicated eyes, with the swirl of blues and greens and browns. But who doesn’t smile when those eyes draw her like a bug to a zapper. Who wouldn’t laugh out loud when his glance toward her mouth was like handing her a roadmap with a giant X on Kissytown, and her imagination goes on a pleasurable jaunt down Inappropriateness Lane. And even the heat – you feel it slowly build as Mack checks out Ella’s body in the doorway of his office – but you smile again when he does a check, double check, and checkity-check.

The book is full of these moments. As I said, it’s delightful. Full of characters you can’t help but root for, with a solid plotline and some suspense and surprises. I received a copy of Set the Night on Fire from the publisher via NetGalley. I thoroughly enjoyed it and do not hesitate to recommend it.

I received Set the Night on Fire by Laura Trentham from NetGalley in exchange for a fair review. This is the 6th book in her Cottonbloom series and the first time I have read written by Laura Trentham so can be read as a stand-alone. However, it does discuss an event that happened in a previous book that piqued my curiosity so I will be starting from the beginning.
Cottonbloom is a town that is on the state line of Mississippi and Louisiana and is divided by a river. Ella Boudreaux is a wealthy socialite who misses her brother so buys into the Abbott Garage as a way of preserving his memory. Mack Abbott is married to the garage and on his way to becoming a jerk of the highest caliber with no return. To say he is furious over his brother selling to Ella is an understatement. Butt Ella has ideas that can improve the garage and Mack's brothers see this. Mack, attempting to keep his distance, struggles with his feelings toward Ella.
This was a wonderful story and I feel in love with Ella as a heroine instantly. Her courage and independence was striking. I also felt kinship with her lack of trust and loneliness and spent the book rooting for her. Mack...... I have to admit, it took me awhile to trust Mack. At the beginning, it appeared he was borderline mean and only apologized due to his brothers insentience. It wasn't until he had a heart to heart with one of his brothers that I stated to view him in a different light. He struggles with feelings and showing them as well as change. The way Pop did it was good enough for him. But time marches on and most of the time change is good.
As Mack and Ella work together the heat turns up and both begin to open up to each other. Wonderful chemistry does emerge and steaming scenes take control. But misunderstanding happen and the HEA isn't guaranteed until the end.
A wonderful story and introduction to the writing of Laura Trentham. I will be looking for her in the future. #SettheNightonFire #NetGalley

Welcome back to Cottonbloom. I am really enjoying this series in the small town of Cottonbloom. Ella finally tames the wild beast (Mack)!! This was a great enemy to lover book. The transition from one to the other is perfect. I like that we are visiting the Abbott family again. Mack goes through a lot in this book, I think more then his brothers did before this book. I love the extra special Epilogue at the end. If you have read any other book from this series you are going to love reading this book.

Ella Boudreaux has a lot to prove to her family, friends, and foes and to herself. So when her marriage ends she decides to invest her energy and money into a place that brings back some of Ella’s happiest memories: the Abbott brothers’ garage. Mack was furious when his brother, Ford, sold his share of the business. He’s in no rush to team up with a wealthy divorcée who shows up to the garage in.
I’ve been waiting for this book after reading the previous book in the series & it didn’t disappoint. An engrossing story. Mack & Ella have both been through the mill but can’t deny their attraction to each other even if they butt heads. The characters have plenty of depth & the story although a little slow at times overall flowed well. If you like small town romances then you’ll love this

My honest review is for a special copy I voluntarily read
