Upfront I haven't read the other books in the series which might be why i was a little lost on some of the characters. There are a lot of them and they seem to have a lot of history. However I still felt the story can be read as a standalone.

High level of intensity. Threats of death, kidnapping, political maneuvers, and lots and lots of sexual tension and chemistry. Jam packed action!

Thais may only have room in her heart for her mission, but Dunn is up to the challenge of showing her that she’s worth every risk in this fast paced and smooth flowing novel full of explosive action, thrilling suspense, passionate romance and electrical sparks. Thrills and excitement abound throughout the story as the suspense keeps readers hanging on to the edge of their seat with lots of twist and turns and pulse pounding events keeps anticipation building. The candidate running for the Presidency is up to no good once again and wreaking havoc within the Shadow Ops Agency and the heroic and determined agents which keeps the turmoil and the suspense growing to epic proportions all the way up to the startling explosive conclusion of the conflict.

Thais and Dunn are two characters that are strong and considerable characters that are full of electrical chemistry that has sparks flying in every direction as they fight to keep a relationship from happening even after they give in to the undeniable attraction which keeps the emotional turmoil high throughout but gives readers an in depth and insightful look at the characters psyches as they fight the bad guys and continue toward their happily ever after despite the reasons why they shouldn’t allow that to happen.

The story could be read as a standalone in the series, however it really is much more enjoyable read in sequential order in able to better understand the overall plot and to get to know all the characters because while this story is Thais and Dunn’s romance, all the characters are essential to the plot and the points of view switches between them.

Don't Look Back by Dawn Ryder is a complex story. It feels like a culmination (not that I want it to be the last) of the series. There is lots of back story here that is interesting but not necessary. I have read several but not all of the preview books in the series. This one is more intense. It is a fast paced thriller with a reluctant love story thrown in. The characters are drawn out in the book piece by piece. Not only are the hero and heroine complex but they fit into a systems or really a set of systems that are complex with interrelations and changing dynamics. If you want a simple read, this one is not for you. Yet, if you like a complex story with fascinating characters and lots of twists and turns, this book is for you.

The suspense was ongoing throughout. The characters worked well together and they worked well against each other. But the best between Thais and Dunn...was unmatched. They had me rooting for them every step of the way.

I received an arc from Netgalley. This book has action, suspense and a beautiful love story. An interesting read and one Inwould recommend. Thais and Dunn are destined to be together if they can let their guard down.

This is the first book I have read by Dawn Ryder and I had a hard time following all of the storylines as it jumped around so much I felt like I was a ball in a pinball machine bouncing around and I was completely confused until about the middle of the book. I did like the attraction and chemistry between Shadow Ops agent Thais Sinclair and Dunn Bateson. This is the sixth book in the series so I feel like I was missing something by not reading the first five books in the Unbroken Heroes series. I received an advance reader copy of this book from the publisher via NetGalley and this is my honest review.

Don’t Look Back is the final book in a series. While it appears that it can be read on its own, I do believe that it would have been best to read the other books in the series first as the sub-plot is present throughout. The author does attempt to fill you in, and does so well. It was a quick, romantic suspense that many will find enjoyable.

I skimmed this book instead of reading it. There was to much going on and it was hard to keep up.

Rating 3.5 Stars,

Don't Look Back was an action-packed thriller. Ryder writes well and creates a complex, well-paced story. I didn't love Thais or Dunn. They were difficult, secretive and dark. They've had difficult pasts that explain their personalities and Ryder does a good job explaining them.

Dunn and Thais are even dark when they're together. There's no fun flirting, no redeeming cute interactions between these two that would have made me like them so much better. I was left not knowing for sure if their future included a happily-ever-after or if that is possible for them.

Full of action and dire situations, the book was interesting but didn't quite win me over to the author or the series.

Don't Look Back justifies my dislike of picking up books mid/at the end of the series. What I dislike even more is being confused by a book. And I was confused by this book. I would have been fine if the focus was on Dunn and Thais. Maybe a secondary main plotline about Carl's evil doings. Instead, I got a book that was told from many points of views. I got many storylines going on. I was confused by where Thais' storyline was going and what the Shadow Ops wanted to be done with her. I could go on and on but you get the drift with where I was going.

I didn't dislike Don't Look Back. Stripping away the "extras" that came with it, I thought that Dunn and Thais' story was fantastic. Their backstories were tragic. I felt that because of everything that was crammed into the book, I didn't get a chance to know them. I felt that their story was lost under the many other plotlines. I wanted to know them better. I wanted to know why Dunn's mother left him. I wanted to know exactly what Thais' mother trained her to do. Even more so, I wanted to know what Thais' husband and brother-in-law were doing that justified her killing them. Maybe these questions were answered in the earlier books but I don't know. I didn't read them.

My other problem with the book was that there was no distinction when the POV's changed. I kept going back and rereading the previous paragraph because I got confused. There would be a scene between Thais and Dunn and it would change to Kagan or any of the Shadow Ops and then would change to Carl and then change back to Dunn or Thais. All within the same chapters. Something like this (*****) would have been great. It would have made reading Don't Look Back go so much smoother than it did. I did keep in mind that I was reading an ARC but still. Very annoying.

The Thais and Dunn's sex scenes were fantastic. I liked that Thais didn't want to be treated like a fragile doll. She liked it a little rough. I also liked that Dunn was able to provide that and more to her.

The suspense angle of the book didn't do it for me. Because of all the POV's, I wasn't able to get as involved with the book as I would have been. So, I wasn't able to get deep into the suspense part of the book. It was there but I thought it was lukewarm, at the best.

The end of the book was a confusing mess. There was too much going on. Also, the very ending threw me. I had an issue imagining what happened happening.

What I liked about Don't Look Back:

A) Thais and Dunn's sex scenes. They were awesome

B) Thais and Dunn's backstories were fascinating

What I disliked about Don't Look Back:

A) Too many POVs'

B) No distinction when POV ended and went to a different one.

C) The ending was a confusing mess.

I gave Don't Look Back a 2-star rating.  I couldn't get involved with the characters. There were too many POVs'. There was no distinction between POVs within the same chapter. And the ending was a confusing mess. I did like the sex scenes, but that is about it.

I would give Don't Look Back an Adult rating. There is explicit sex. There is graphic violence. There is language. I would not recommend anyone under the age of 21 read this book.

I would not reread Don't Look Back. I also would not recommend this book to family and friends.

I would like to thank St. Martin's Paperbacks, St. Martin's Press, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Don't Look Back.

DON’T LOOK BACK is the sixth (and final ?) instalment in Dawn Ryder’s contemporary, adult UNBROKEN HEROES erotic, romantic suspense series focusing on the men and women who work for an elite Shadow Ops Team made up of ex-SEALs and other special forces warriors. This is reclusive British businessman Dunn Bateson, and Shadows Ops Agent Thais Sinclair’s story line. DON’T LOOK BACK should probably not be read as a stand alone; I recommend reading the series in order for back story and cohesion as there is an on-going premise throughout the series.

Told from several third person perspectives including Dunn and Thais DON’T LOOK BACK is the culmination of six story lines focusing on the political atmosphere surrounding the US Federal elections. Dunn Bateson is the illegitimate son of a powerful woman running for office, a woman who has figured prominently in the upcoming elections for the US Congress, but it is Dunn’s attraction to Shadow Ops agent Thais Sinclair that finds our couple at odds with one another when Thais is assigned protection duty to the man that pushes all of her buttons. With the political campaign pushes into high gear, Miranda Delacroix continues to be targeted by the front-running opponent, an opponent who is not against using hired assassins and dupes in his bid for higher office. As the Shadow Ops team continues to ‘shadow’ Miss Delacroix, a more dark and sinister mind begins to unravel in his attempts to destroy them all. What ensues is the building romance between Thais and Dunn, and the fall-out as a series of attempts on the lives of the people they love finds the Shadow Ops team pulling out all the stops to serve and protect.

The relationship between Thais and Dunn is fraught with the palpable sexual attraction that does not go unnoticed by the Shadow Ops team, an attraction that is questioned by the people in charge. Both Dunn and Thais have been burned in the past- used by the people professing their love. The $ex scenes are intimate, erotic and intense without the use of over the top, sexually graphic language and text.

The world building follows several paths and several perspectives as the Shadow Ops team must work overtime to take down the man in question, a man whose need to win at all costs could very well cost them all of their lives.

Once again, similar to all of the previous story lines, the back and forth between numerous points of view is frenzied and disconcerting- the affect may be too erratic for some readers as the story line relentlessly and rapidly jumps between different perspectives without so much as a break or introduction. It can be confusing and unsettling from paragraph to paragraph, numerous times throughout each chapter, or within a single page, such that the reader may have to re-read the previous passages to follow the jump in perspectives.

DON’T LOOK BACK is a story of suspense, political intrigue, power and control. The premise is intriguing and action-packed; the characters are animated, dynamic and edgy; the romance is passionate and seductive. If you can look past the frantic change in perspectives, DON’T LOOK BACK is a fitting conclusion to Dawn Ryder’s UNBROKEN HEROES.

Maybe I am missing something and need to go and read the previous books in the series. It was a little slow and it was hard to push thru to the end. I just couldn't get into it.

The ending redeemed this book. I am happy this series is over because this book just seemed to drag because I was just done with the whole Carl Davis thing. I am happy everyone got their HEA. Thais like everyone else deserved to get their happily ever after and she does in this book. I wouldn't mind more books with the Special Ops team just not about Carl Davis. This book does have a satisfying ending and if you have read the series it's worth reading this book to get to the end.

This is the 6th book in this series and the first I've read by this author. I liked this book, the main characters, and the storyline but I do feel I missed things about some of the characters by not having read the other books in the series beforehand. I may check out the other books.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher, St. Martin's Press, via NetGalley. My thoughts and opinions are my own and without bias.

Thais only wants to complete her mission even if Dunn doesn’t want her there. What will happen when sparks fly between these two. The story has plenty of drama and suspense and really draws you in. The chemistry is steamy and the story is fun, entertaining and suspenseful. I really liked it.

Don't Look Back by Dawn Ryder is book 6 in the Unbroken Heroes series. This is the story of Thais Sinclair and Dunn Bateson. I have read the previous book, but feel you can make this a standalone book if you wish to do so.
This was a story leaning more to excitement, adventure and suspense with the underline story of love.
Ms. Ryder is a very good storyteller and this book lived up to that. This was a page turner for me! Will be looking for more books by Ms. Ryder!

This is the six installment in the Unbroken Heroes series. Although this can be read as a stand-alone, I highly suggest reading in order. There are references to prior characters and events that would be easier if the reader had a glimpse of the past. Like the prior installments, this one was fun of action and suspense and kept me guessing. There were some confusing points of contention throughout the read, which reduced my overall rating. Overall, a very enjoyable read, and this reader will continue with the series.
