There were several aspects of this book that I really enjoyed. The setting was very well written and made me feel like I was right there in the story. I also found the characters, particularly Boise, to be well drawn and relatable. The story was good, but it dragged just a bit in places. Overall it was an enjoyable read.
I really enjoyed this book, and was rooting for the fearless (?) adventurer who embarks on a very dangerous mission far from home. I loved every minute reading "Dark Paradise", and highly recommend it to anyone looking for a smart, intense mystery.
i had a lot of hopes for this one - I like the voice of Boise, the teller of the tale but it got bogged down for me in convoluted language - I did not always know who was talking for example - the ambience and brio of the characters altogether carried me along - but it took so much time establishing that his old friend had turned druggie and bad boy, and been murdered all mixed up somehow in his return home after his own personal misfortune - and the 'reporter' - i never quite got it. But I liked its verve, I just could not stay with it.
