There was too much backstory in this very short book, particular considering it is book #3 in the series. The sex fell flat and was repetitive. Damian, the fallen angel, is ridiculously promiscuous.
This book was a lot different than expected. The character flow was one I'd not really expected. The over all story line was okay. I wished our angel had a bit more of something...but good story
This book was slow going. There was not a character development. No chemistry the sex scenes were lacking any spark.
The story is a bit dull for me. Which is why I can not really finish the story. The plot is boring, even the sex scenes are boring. Author please make us a surprise, not fall asleep while reading... Awaiting your next book with more surprise.
After a quick intro in which a woman pines for more than a casual sex relationship with the man she’s fallen in love with, the action moves to the protagonist, fallen angel/hedonist Damien Fontaine, relaxing with his main squeeze, Rhiannon.
Damien is a lot more introspective than usual, making a nice parallel to the human couple in that he wonders if there’s something more than a friends-with-benefits relationship with his witch sex buddy. She’s more perceptive than she lets on, but that probably won’t be addressed till the next installment.
But back to the main story. I have to agree with Damien that she deserves better, which makes the inevitable ending still feel forced. Despite the fun in bed and on the tennis court, this one just wasn’t as good as the previous two.
I enjoyed this book. It was a quick, fun read. I would have liked to have felt a more intense connection between the two main characters, and some of the dialogue was a bit too formal. Still, I would definitely read additional books from this author.
This is the third installment in the fallen angel chronicles. This installment features Damian Fontaine, the fallen angel, who has taken on missions that usually features him helping a woman discover her inner sexiness or bring people together. In this specific installment we see him mission featuring the latter of the two. Fontaine moves in next door to Hayley, who has been having an on again off again relationship with fellow neighbor Ward for years. Hayley is in love with Ward, but Ward has treated her move of a friend with benefit than a girlfriend, so Fontaine comes in to wake Ward up and see what he is missing out on. This installment does feature a very slight twist in that in Fontaine's personal life he is struggling with new feelings, as a fallen angel he does not fully understand complex emotions like love, he understands it from an intellectual aspect but not from one of feeling, but he is having strange feelings for his long time lover Rhiannon, that may just be actual love.
I do want to state before my actual review begins that I did receive this book as an advanced reader copy from the publisher through net galley, but everything featured below is my 100% honest opinion.
This is a very short book, about 100 pages. It is an easy read, so you can definitely breeze through it on a lazy afternoon. Even saying that I will say when I finished the book my overall opinion of it was just MEH. I did like that even though this was the third book in the installment, it can be read as a standalone novel since the author does explain enough of the characters' backgrounds for the reader to fully understand all aspects discussed. Yet the shortness of the story did not give the author enough time to fully develop the storyline so many aspects, especially those surrounding his "mission" with Hayley and Ward, felt to rushed, to simple, just under developed all around. The author focus too heavily on the sex scenes, since probably 75% of the book is just the character sleeping with each other. The sex scenes also were to typical, an example of this would be how every male featured is extremely well endowed in the nether regions. As well as after reading so many they even became to repetitious, different characters but the same actions described in the same language.
I will definitely not say this was the worst book I have read, because that is not the case in the least, I just felt underwhelmed with the story. It did have a lot of promise, but just not the pages to complete it. I would still read another by the author, it was just this particular book I wasn't the biggest fan of. So I give it a 2 our of 5.
Just okay
Interesting premise for a story but the execution fell short and I didn’t care for the ending (except at least there was one HEA).
I voluntarily read an advanced copy.
Damian is a fallen angel who has taken it upon himself to unite Harley and Ward in a long-term, loving, committed relationship. But first Damian needs to figure out why Ward is dragging his feet.
During the unfolding of events we learn more about Damian and why and how he fell from grace. We also learn why a fallen angel would decide to help mortals with matters of sex and love.
This could have been expanded quite a bit more and been very good. However, at 66 pages it was a quick but enjoyable diversion from daily life. I will look for more in this series, as this was book three.
