A relatively easy read. I felt the same way I felt about the first book in the series: I wish there was more focus on the case and less on Rachel's messy personal life. The case was a good one with many layers and lots of travel involved, and when that was the focus, I was all in. Whenever it shifted to Rachel's personal life, I just found myself annoyed.

Thanks to Bookouture for allowing me to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

I loved the first book about Detective Rachel Prince but for some reason just couldn't engage with this story at all. I will definitely give her books another go.

Thank you #NetGalley for a copy of #NowShe'sGone!

Over all, this was a pretty decent book. Rachel Prince is tasked with investigating the sudden death of a Dutch teenager who supposedly accidently fell off a cliff one night and died. What Rachel discovers is that there is much more to the story and something similar happened a few years before to another teenage. The book certainly kept my attention and it was an easy reading however it just didn't have any "Wow" factor that I usually look for and enjoy in a book. The ending was somewhat predictable as you know pretty early on what really happened to the two teenagers. I'd still recommend reading this book if you enjoy a nice murder mystery, just don't expect to be shocked with suspenseful twists!

Fabulous book with a fast pace and intense plot. Detective Rachel Prince kept me rooted to the story. Her past came rushing through as the murder in the present. A murder 2 years ago linked to this murder gives it a serial killer-y vibe.
My second book by Alison James, had me living the book, as much as I did the first one.. Rachel as the main character is dynamic in all her scenes, the twists increasing the adrenaline in turn. A fab read

I have read book one in this series and enjoyed it. Book 2 was so intense.

It seems the more we get to know Rachel the DI the more I learn about her secret past which is just as thrilling as this crime story she’s investigating.

Two years ago there was a similar murder of a young girl like this and the more the crime is followed the more it looks like it’s leading to a serial killer.

I love how the author not only leads us in the plot itself but the personal secrets surrounding Rachel.

It definitely kept me on my toes today.

Rachel Prince is called to the Dutch embassy to help out on an investigation. The daughter of a prominent Dutch family has been found dead in Edinburgh whilst on a trip to the Festival, it has been deemed an accident but a diplomatic follow-up is required and so the NCA has become involved. Once in Edinburgh Prince feels that things are not as they should be and the discovery of a linked case two years before only heightens those suspicions. Meanwhile Prince's past and present are about to collide.
I really enjoyed James' first novel about the NCA and this second book does not disappoint. Rachel Prince is an intriguing central character with a complex backstory and a talent for detection. Here the plot seems to revolve around young, rich students getting up to mischief during trips to the Edinburgh Festival but it rapidly darkens to look at the nastier side of the Dark Web and the perversions that people pay for.

I really enjoyed this second book in the Detective Rachel Prince series. And this one was a nonstopping edge of your seat ride. There are lots of surprises in store for you once you open the book and get lost in the story of Prince and DS Brickall. They make a great team as they work to help bring closure for the father of a girl who died unexpectedly.

The characters are wonderful! You feel like you can hear them speaking as you read their dialogue. And I love some of the quirky sayings that are unfamiliar to an American. It made the book even more enjoyable to me.

The mystery surrounding the girl's death is something that Detective Prince is determined to solve. When you factor her tenacity in with her skill as a detective, you are in for an amazing adventure. And the author keeps you invested by adding a few twists and turns, family dynamics, romantic interests, and a good old fashioned mystery. Detective Prince has a special talent for being able to put the pieces together until the puzzle is finally done.

I will definitely continue to read books by Alison James and specifically, the Rachel Prince series!

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookoutre Publishers for an ARC in exchange for my honest opinion.

Thanks to netgalley for the ARC of the second book in the DI Rachel Prince series. This book was even better than the first, and that's saying something, as number one was already out of this world.
In this book a young girl dies and Rachel has to investigate and try to find the killer. She has to deal with even worse family problems as the first book, if that is even possible, making for a thrilling read up to the end!
Highly recommended.

"Now She's Gone" eBook was published in 2018 and was written by Alison James. Ms. James has published two novels, both in her "Detective Rachel Prince" series. This is the second book in the series.

I categorize this novel as ‘R’ because it contains scenes of Violence, Mature Language, and Mature Situations. The story is set in contemporary England and Scotland. The primary character is Detective Inspector Rachel Prince.

A 16-year-old girl is found dead at the bottom of a cliff in Scotland. Her death is ruled an accident, but her wealthy parents think there is more to her death that the local police are finding. DI Prince is asked to look into the matter more for diplomatic reasons than because there are any real questions about the girl's death.

Her initial investigation uncovers at least one other similar death and before long Prince is on the trail of organized crime dealing in child pornography and perhaps a serial killer. Prince's personal life - her current boyfriend and a potential new romantic interest within the police force - distracts her from her investigation.

I thoroughly enjoyed the nearly 8 hours I spent reading this 300 page mystery. I liked the characters created for this novel and the plot. I will be looking for the next installment in this is a series. The cover art is OK.  I would I give this novel a 5 out of 5.

When I read the first book in the Rachel Prince series I couldn't wait for the second to come out and I was not disappointed! Was Emily's death an accident or something more? Great police procedural! Love Rachel and look forward hopefully to more books in this series.

This is a brilliant read. I enjoyed this as much as I enjoyed the first book in the series. I liked the complexity of the plot and I really liked the development of the characters. I did not see the ending coming at all. I thought that the whole book was brilliantly put together. I hope that there is more to come.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

Wow absolutely stunningly good! Loved every thing about this book, I couldn’t find one negative. It was fast paced, the story line was amazing, the characters really likeable and the punches kept coming at me keeping me on the edge of my seat. I found this book really difficult to put down I just wanted to keep reading it. It was shocking but captivating at the same time. A really really great book that totally deserves a big fat 5 stars, loved it!

The second book in the series (book 1 was Lola is Missing), James shows just how well she can handle a police procedural that will keep you on your toes, and turning the pages with gasping breath, as she peels back the layers of what appears to be a solved mystery and uncovers her own past. Add in an international flavor, and you have a mystery you will spend HOURS with, and not want to leave, as you get to know Rachel, and her team, and a bit of Edinburgh along the way! Rachel is very relatable and this is a series you;ll want to sink into!

Really easy read, a book you can get into straight way. I’ve not read the first in the series, Lola Is Gone, (soon to be rectified) but that does not take from this which can be read as a standalone. Good fast moving plot and characters that you warm to and want to know more about. Good subplot development in Rachel’s private life too. The makings of a cracking series

After reading the author’s last book I couldn’t wait to get my hands on her latest release the over and the blurb certainly got my attention!

I loved the setting and the deceptive nature of the story really drew me in and made me feel as though I was part of the case, the characters were superb and I really enjoyed their interaction as they started to work the case.

The pace was brilliant and I loved the twists that came up as I got further in to the story, it was certainly one that kept me gripped. Gritty where it needed and with a brilliant atmosphere of suspense too, I really, really enjoyed it and definitely recommend it!!

No hesitation in giving his book 5 stars – a brilliant thriller and I loved it!!

Book 2 in the Detective Rachel Prince series. Set in Edinburgh, this book is well written with an intriguing plot which kept me gripped until the last page. Rachel is investigating the case of a 16 year old teenager from Holland, ruled as accidental death. The subject of the book, rape and paedophiles, is handled with great sensitivity by the author. I would recommend this book to lovers of crime fiction. Thanks to Net Galley for my copy. I reviewed on Goodreads, Amazon and Facebook.
