Wow! What a read! I couldn’t put this down once I started. Excellent read! A well written page turner
You will never see it coming!
I admit, at around half way I was going to give up on this one. So glad I didn't! You may feel like nothing is happening, but just wait and see!
A complicated tale of love, betrayal and professional ethics. Buckle up.
Tell Me A Secret is the first book i have read from Samantha Hayes and wow what a book ! it is full of twists and turns and i couldn't put it down.Lorna has seemingly has the perfect life married to Mark a dentist, two children and a successful career as a councillor, but behind the scenes she is haunted by an event which occurred with Andrew an ex patient and who as now resurfaced in her life after a year.Towards the superb ending i had to keep rereading the odd page thinking did that really happen ?? if you enjoy psychological thrillers that take your breath away then this is the book for you ! A masterpiece of a thriller,5 stars without a doubt.
This was a solid 4 star thriller which kept me gripped and guessing until the end. Would have liked a little more resolution regarding Lornas issues from her childhood and the relationship between her and her mother but overall I thoroughly enjoyed it. Thanks to the author, Netgalley and Bookouture for an advanced copy in exchange for an honest review.
I had a hard time engaging with this story, it starts out kind of boring and I really did not like Lorna. Thankfully, the story picks up a few chapters in but I still did not like any of the characters. A few chapters later and I'm starting to really enjoy reading this book. The mysterious Nikki appears and, despite all odds, I actually like this character.
Then the story loses it, twists all over the place, things I did not see coming at all! I love twists and when a story takes a different direction, how exciting. But... can there be too many twists? There is such a thing as too much, so much that the story becomes unbelievable and this is what happens at the end of this book. It was all too much...
I did read it though, and although it was not my favourite, I did enjoy it somewhat so a two star rating, it was okay...
5☆ Fast Paced compulsive Psychological Thriller that kept me on my toes.
Tell Me A Secret is a fast paced compulsive psychological thriller that kept me on my toes.
When Lorna gets gets a call from a mystery person called Andrew, she never expects her world to come crashing down.
Lorna is a married mum and part time therapist. With a big secret to hide!
So who is Andrew and why has he got Lorna so scared?
Tell Me A Secret is Unputdownable, Fast Paced, rollercoaster of a Taut psychological thriller that created an enticing mix of suspense, gripping twists that had me flipping every page till the early hours.
The Characters are flawed and not entirely likeable, but perfect for this exciting thriller.
Oh and I forgot to add the Prologue wow!!
If you enjoy thrillers that create a tense, chilling psychological thriller, that is full of secrets and lies, that will keep you on your toes. Then you will love Tell Me A Secret!
I have been a fan of Samantha Hayes for quite a long time and enjoyed all her books, but this book was her best ever. I was addicted from the first page and couldn’t put it down, sneaking off to read it at any opportunity! It’s a story of two women’s secrets, relationships, obsessions, revenge and many more that left me gasping at the end.
Lorna is a psychotherapist married to Mark. They have a daughter Freya, and Mark has a daughter Olivia, from the marriage to his first wife who died. Lorna has been having an affair with Andrew, a former patient, and has ended it but he turns up wanting to start again, Lorna reveals all her secrets to someone and the nightmare begins putting all her family in danger.
This must be one of my favourite books this year and one i will remember, this is definitely one of the best pshchological thrillers I have read and if I could give it 10 stars I would!
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book.
Lorna is a happily married woman. She has a gorgeous husband Mark, a step son and a daughter with Mark as well as a great career as a psychotherapist. A good lifestyle and plenty of friends.
But Lorna also has secrets including an ex lover who has come back into her life and unravelling everything.
How many secrets can you keep before it gets too much?
A fantastic read. I lost sleep having to finish this in the early hours of the morning. I love this author’s books and the publishing company, Bookoutre, always has amazing authors and books to offer.
This was one of the strangely different book, where the initial premise was mild and calming and then it goes on to become a forbidden love affair gone wrong, and the ending was a culmination of past and present.
Unexpected twists in the last 20% made it a choppy but unexpected ending. The mid part does drag on about the affair.
I am still undecided if I liked the book or not. I suppose I would call it a different read.
Thank you to netgalley for a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review, this is my first novel from Samantha Hayes and I really enjoyed it. I found it addictive and thrilling from the start.
I love Samantha Hayes' writing and this one adds to the amazing collection of books. A shocking prequel leading into a slower paced introduction to an array of characters. A story told mainly by Lorna a therapist with a controlled, organised life and Nikki a stranger who you are not quite sure how she fits in. Lorna's life starts to fall apart personally and professionally as a man she had an affair with comes back into her life. As she starts to unravel the story throws you into some crazy twists and turns. A great read.
English version:
The latest novel by author Samantha Hayes. This story centers around a secret like the title tells us. A psychologist and an unknown woman are the main characters in the story. The secrets are intertwined between past and present. A super exciting story.
Hayes has outdone herself. This can be called one of her best stories yet. Hayes makes a complex puzzle that keeps you surprised until the very end. Thanx to Netgalley i got to read the book before its release. The bar is raised for the next book.
I’ll start by saying that I absolutely loved this book! I was gripped from the opening chapter and raced through the pages.
Lorna works as a therapist and on the surface appears to live a charmed life. Married to a devoted husband with a daughter of their own (Freya) and stepson Jack. Lorna has a strict routine to ensure her life runs like clockwork and that everything is kept in order. It soon becomes apparent that this holds her together mentally; she is doing all she can to get over an affair she had with a client the previous year. Unluckily for Lorna her lover tracks her down and cracks begin to appear in her perfect life. Is she willing to throw away her marriage and career for this man?
Tell Me a Secret is a difficult one to review because of spoilers, I don’t want to ruin anyone’s enjoyment of this intense read! Safe to say you will feel like your brain has been taken out, shook around and returned back to front!
A fantastic book which I highly recommend.
4.5 Twisted Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟.5
Samantha Hayes... WOW! What a crazy ride you just took me on! I’d like to thank you for that and blame you for a sleepless night.... i’d suggest you go into this book completely blind, don’t read the blurb, don’t read the reviews (except for mine😉) this book was filled with twist that I did not see coming, and if you do major props to you! There were so many times I was certain I had figured it all out but NOPE!
Lorna was a serious hot mess... she was self-centered, manipulative, a liar, and a therapist... I found this quite amusing, just what you want from a therapist for them to be a bigger mess than you are....Lorna also has a big secret, she had an affair... now the man is back and she can’t seem to stay away.... her feelings towards this man were obsessive... so obsessive that it caused problems not only in her personal life, but in her professional life as well.... I kept thinking there has to be more to this, to cause a intelligent woman to behave this way....
The majority of the book is told from Lorna‘s point of view, with an occasional journal entry from her, and an unknown character named Nikki... Who is Nikki? Well I had lots of theories on this one, all wrong! Wonderful psychological thriller filled with all the twists and turns you’d want and an ending that was quite explosive!💥
Absolutely recommend two fans of a twisty psychological thriller!
*** many thanks to Bookouture and Net Galley for my copy of this fabulous book ***
Amazing ending! I totally did not see that coming! I did find the two points of view somewhat confusing as they were both in the first person and I managed to get lost in the narrative a couple of times. I had to slow down and reread while concentrating on who was telling their story in the chapter. But it is a fabulous book, riveting storyline and very realistic characters.
I love psychological thrillers but had never read anything by this author before. I was gripped. A real page turner. Loved it will be reading books by her again
Tell Me A Secret by Samantha Hayes is a gripping psychological thriller that will have you hooked from start to finish. A story about secrets, lies and betrayals that will keep you on your toes. Full of twists and a brilliant ending with a twist I didn't see coming. Definitely worth a read!
Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.
I have been a fan of Samantha Hayes for quite a while now and I look forward to each book that she releases. I just love the psychological aspects of them and they certainly make you think. ‘Tell Me A Secret’ is her latest book. I really enjoyed reading it but more about that in a bit.
I have to say that I didn’t take to Lorna as she irritated me somewhat. She is a psychotherapist, who crossed the line when she had an affair with one of her patients. She doesn’t seem to understand the gravity of the situation. I guess this is where the safeguarding part of me kicks in. (Many moons ago I used to work in safeguarding vulnerable adults and children and would regularly come across referrals regarding health professionals and their patients). Her patient would have been considered to be a vulnerable adult as he was under her care and she appears to have exploited his vulnerability to get what she wants. Saying that though, I don’t know that Lorna is as cold and calculating as I have made her out to be but I do think she is slightly naïve and unrealistic. Lorna is married to a man called Mark, who is a dentist. Both are obviously career people, who are successful at their work. They have a child together and Lorna is stepmother to Mark’s child from his first wife. Mark & Lorna’s marriage was interesting in the sense that Mark is the dominant one and Lorna is the submissive one, who constantly frets about what Mark wants. Lorna is aware that Mark likes things just so , so she does what she needs to to keep him sweet. It is almost as if she is afraid of upsetting him. I did begin to wonder if she was a victim of domestic violence- not physical but emotional and mental cruelty as certain indicators are there. Lorna is certainly good at keeping secrets and it is only as the book continues that we learn more about her and her activities, which go some way to explaining why she is the way she is. I think that it is fair to say that Lorna was actually the one who needs therapy as she is certainly one messed up woman.
The prologue begins in such a tragic way that grabs your attention from the start. This certainly happened to me and I will not forget the way this book started. I felt so sorry for the girl. The author’s writing style is such that you can’t help but be drawn into the story and before you realise what is happening you are addicted to the story. This is certainly the case for me. I started reading only intending to read a couple of chapters but that intention soon went out of the window. As the book continues the author drip feeds you certain nuggets of information that keep you interested in the story and desperate to read on. The chapters end in such a way that encourages you to read on. I was hooked on this book from the moment I read the prologue and reading it became an addiction. The page numbers were turning so quickly that it was almost as if they were turning themselves and before I knew it I had finished the book which I was pleased about because I knew how the story ended and the secret that Lorna was so desperate to keep. Reading this book was akin to being on a very unpredictable rollercoaster ride with more twists and turns than you would find on a snakes and ladders board as well as moments that you just don’t see coming until they hit you so to speak.
In conclusion I really enjoyed reading this book and would wholeheartedly recommend it to other readers, but particularly to those who like a good psychological thriller. I can’t wait to see what comes next from this fantastic author. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a well deserved 5* out of 5*.
I had great expectations for this book and this book far exceeded them! I can thank Ms. Hayes for a sleep deprived, coffee fueled day today! I read this book far into the night, but it was worth it!
You realize right from the start that Lorna has a secret. What you don't know is that virtually every character in this book also has their own secret.
There are so many secrets unraveled towards the end of the book that I was left speechless. I thought I had it all figured out. I was quite wrong on all accounts.
This is a book that will provoke your thoughts far after you are done reading it. If you love a good suspense filled story with some major twists, you are sure to love this book as much as I did!
