I struggled with this book. None of the characters were likeable. I assume we are supposed to like Lorna, the wife and main character. But it is difficult to do that when the book starts off with her behaving erratic and cheating on her husband, again. But even the husband wasn’t sympathetic. I gave the book 2 stars, instead of 1, because I like the basic concept but I wish the story had been written differently. Maybe introduce Lauren and establish her as a more likeable, stable person first so that it does seem extreme when she cheats on her husband? I wish I had felt bad for what the characters were going through but it felt like they all caused their own trouble. But, for people that like the train wrecks of reality tv shows, this might be perfect for them!

Not for me. I persevered to 45 % of this but I really was not enjoying it. I didn’t like the characters and kept thinking “I don’t care what happens to these people”. I wanted to slap the main character and tell her to get a grip and count her blessings. I can see from the reviews I’m in a minority here but I guess the world would be a boring place if we all liked the same things

Tell Me A Secret by Samantha Hayes.. where do I start. This book has it all and then more... literally could not stop reading it.

Lorna is a therapist and from the outside she seems to have it all.. a husband, a family and a career. But Lorna has a big secret that could destroy all of that. She tries to leave it in the past but her past is back and she has to do what she she can to protect her world from crashing down.

There is a lot going on in this book but all of it sucked me in. And the ending knocked me for 6... wow, did not see that coming at all and I loved it! Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for my advanced copy of this book to read and enjoy in exchange for my honest opinions

Lorna has a secret, one so huge that, if discovered, will ruin her marriage and family Even more is at stake – that of her career. She is a therapist and her secret is that she had an affair with one of her patients, Andrew. Although she ended things nearly a year ago, she knows that her life will be destroyed if she were to be ever found out. In order to function, she has tightly constructed her daily life. She is also suffering extreme angst due to the death of her father when she was a child.

Everything spins out of control when Andrew contacts her again, determined to pick up where they left off. Almost unable to help herself, Lorna begins taking risks, putting all she holds dear in jeopardy. But then, Andrew is found dead and her world is truly turned upside down.

Told from varying points of view, this book held my attention fairly well. While it was often painful to read how Lorna made one bad choice after another, there were enough twists and turns that were just enough to keep me riveted to the story. The ending was a complete shocker.

Many thanks to Bookouture and to NetGalley for this ARC to review.

Where do I start ? This is definitely a book full of twists and turns, just when you think you have it all worked out something else happens that blows your theories out the water. I don’t really want to say too much as it really is a book best read without knowing too much of the story, just dive straight in !!

Lorna, a therapist, has it all - a happy marriage, a loving daughter and stepson, a gorgeous house and a close knit bunch of friends. But is everything as it seems ? In her job Lorna listens to people’s secrets day in day out but is she telling anyone her own secrets ?

This really is a great read that will keep you hooked throughout. Twists and turns in all the right places that keep you on your toes !!

If you are looking for a tense psychological thriller then look no further this is definitely the book for you !!

I loved this book from the beginning to the end, a gripping psychological thriller, very difficult to put down with plenty of twists and turns.

I particularly liked the short chapters relating to the different people in the storyline and all the characters had something to hide.

Overall this book was brilliant and extremely well written, well worth five stars and WOW what a fantastic ending with a twist I never guessed.

Well done Samantha and I look forward to reading more of your books.

Thank you Netgalley for the opportunity to preview Tell Me a Secret by Samantha Hayes. A physcologist has an affair with one of her patients knowing that it is wrong. She can't help herself but she ended the affair, but he walks into her life again, and it starts again.
Then something terrible happens and she has to find a way out of this nightmare - she has put herself in an uncompromising position and she can lose everything if she doesn't prove herself innocent.
Written in several voices, this book is written well, however, characters are not developed, shallow, and uninteresting - I just couldn't connect with the storyline. Just ok for me.

‘Tell Me A Secret’ by Samantha Hayes published by Bookouture on May 25th

Its maybe a cliche to say ‘I read this book in one day or one sitting’ but I really did!! The book immediately grabbed me and kept me with it all day, I seriously am 100% truthful when I say ‘I couldn’t put it down’.....
Samantha Hayes is a great author so I knew this book would be good but this imo is her best yet....a Therapist, Lorna, has an ideal life...but then a new client arrives for an appt....and its someone she shares a secret with....without giving anything away you are then whisked away into a story of lies, secrets, dating sites, secrets, intrigue and more secrets....but the biggest are kept to to the end and I defy you not to GASP at the three, at least WOAHHHH revelations....I read a lot of psychological thrillers and get used to the ‘surprises’ but didn’t see any of these coming
A wonderful read that will leave you shocked and then shocked!!!!
Thats it, simply a brilliant and exciting book that you need to read
10/10 5 stars

Lorna has a secret and it cant get out..... Someone knows it and Lorna must do everything she can to keep it from her family or loose everything in her life including her job.
Tell me a secret kept me hooked and has a fair few twists to keep the reader interested. I would recommend this book to others as well as her other books.

What is real anymore? Lorna has it all a loving husband, a daughter who is battling at school, a stepson that will never accept her as his mother and great job as a therapist but she has secrets that can get you killed. Lorna had an affair and she tried to put it all behind her but now he is back and he wants her still. What can she do to make sure that her husband Mark never finds out? She has too much to lose but she loves Andrew, her lover and she will do anything for him. But her world is starting to unravel and she doesn't know how to stop it from coming apart completely. Everyone has secrets that they hide and hers are coming back to haunt her and she will do whatever it takes to keep them hidden from her friends & family. But with so much going on around her who can she trust? Her ex lover who wants her back, her boss that is very concerned about her, her friends that are just trying to help and her husband that has his own secrets? Lorna will realize that only she can overcome her father's death and what has brought her to this moment in time. A real hard hiding read. We are usually our own worst enemy and we all do have secrets that we all try to keep hidden but Lorna's had awful effects on her family. I was lucky enough to receive a copy in exchange for my honest review via Netgalley & the publishing house.

Do you simply LIVE for a plot full of twists & turns so jarring that you are left thinking of them hours after finishing the book? Pick this book up NOW! I mean it – immediately. You won’t sleep until you’ve finished it, but trust me, it’s well worth the sacrifice.

Tell Me a Secret delivered on its "gripping psychological thriller" promise 100%, With that type of label being tossed around fairly liberally these days, I am always a bit skeptical as to whether I'm actually going to find a book "thrilling," let alone "gripping" - Hayes delivered in a big way.

This story is told by multiple narrators, mainly our quite unlikeable protagonist, Lorna (an aside – it’s so hard for me to care about unlikeable characters or what happens to them- Lorna was a hot mess but she was undeniably human, which is just solid writing & character development – Kudos to Hayes on this for sure!). Lorna has a seemingly perfect life, but what are the secrets that she keeps that cause her crippling anxiety and drive the need for her to stick to a stringent routine? Our secondary narrator is Nikki – let’s just say that things aren’t what they seem with Nikki. We also get to know Lorna’s husband Mark, her stepson, & daughter. She has a great group of friends who are likable characters, well developed for minor characters.

I urge you to read this book without knowing much about it – the twists were wonderfully unpredictable, and while I had an inkling as to how a couple would pan out, I was absolutely shocked at multiple points towards the end of the book!

I highly recommend this book to fans of twisty-turny thrillers that actually deliver on the THRILL aspect!

Thank you to the author & publisher who provided an advance copy of this book via NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.

Thanks Netgalley for a copy to read and review and give my honest opinion. Cover was ok, but it was the blurb that caught my eye.

Lorna has a secret. She had an affair while she was married with one of her patients. Now she is trying to get her life back on track after ending it but it's been difficult for her. This story retells some of the affair, and currently how she is doing at her new job and with her family. One day, nearly a year later, she gets an unscheduled patient.....Andrew, the man she had an affair with, walks through the door. After Lorna finds out he is murdered, she realizes that someone knows her secret. Tell me a secret, has an ending you won't want to miss.

I'm all in for a great mind f@ck....but damn. My biggest regret on this book is that you have to read about 75% until the sh!t proverbially hits the fan. The author does a great job setting the stage, and I literally guessed most of the ending. This book takes great patience though to get to the 75% part. After that it's all down hill. I almost need a therapist after this one. So because of the long slow story building to the crashing end, I give it four stars of entertainment. It's worth the wait.

Tell Me A Secret is about obsession - deep, dark, uncomfortable obsession.  Obsession so encompassing it takes over your life, your family, your job, your responsibilities until all you can think about is your obsession.

Lorna is a married woman with a step son and young daughter.  She's also a respectable counsellor with a client list of damaged and vulnerable patients.  A year ago she embarked on a passionate and all-consuming affair with Andrew, her patient, and ended it after 10 months, moving practices and completely stopping all contact with Andrew.  However he has just found her again, turning up as a new patient under a different name.

This is a really uncomfortable story, not just because the main character Lorna is so unlikable and doesn't just get under your skin, she makes you itch and squirm, it's because I felt like a voyeur watching a family self destruct.   If you like your psychological thrillers so dark you need a torch, so uncomfortable you need an extra pillow and with enough red herrings to smell like Billingsgate Market - then check out this book.

At first you think there is not a lot going on, but boy oh boy, don't think this is a simple story and you have figured it all out! Because if you do, you have another think coming!
The book is well constructed and you feel the tension building up. And than the bomb is dropped. What seems like a story a dime a dozen, really is a sticky web full of intrigues and secrets. But who is the spider??
I can assure you that not if but when you read this book, you will be highly satisfied.
Thank you Samatha Hayes, Bookouture and Netgalley.

I would like to thank Bookouture and NetGalley for giving me the opportunity to read ‘Tell Me A Secret’ written by Samantha Hayes in exchange for my honest and unbiased review.
Lorna is a psychological therapist at the Grove Clinic and lives with Mark, daughter Freya and step-son Jack. When a new client requests an appointment Lorna realises it’s Andrew, a lover from her past who she’s been desperate to put behind her.
I enjoyed the beginning of this novel and found the end full of suspense, but I thought the middle section was unnecessarily drawn-out. I couldn’t empathise with the characters and became rather confused with the plot. I’m sure there are many readers who will love it but I’m afraid it just wasn’t for me.

Holy crap! I stayed up til 1230 to read this! FINALLY a thriller that left me clueless, speechless, and unable to solve the mystery before flipping pages. Amazing read and I will recommend to all my thriller loving people. My best Netgalley find to date! Lorna and Nikki were heroines I loved (not always, but mostly).

Holy smokes! Now this is the type of psychological thriller that I like to read! This was my first read by Samantha Hayes and I must say that I was highly impressed. From the beginning of the story where it depicts a little girl catching her father in an uncompromising act which leads to a lifelong battle with trauma for her, up until the end of the story where a major confession is revealed, I was held captivated at every single word on the page. The shocks kept coming as the story neared the ending and the curveballs thrown at me when I thought I had things figured out, pleased me. I love a story that keeps me on my toes.

The story will jump into one that is told by two women, Lorna and Nikki, as well as excerpts of Lorna's indiscretions from the previous year as told to the reader from her journal. Lorna, a successful therapist, wife and mother to her daughter, Freya, and stepson, Jack, from the outside looking in, appears to have the perfect life, that's until someone from her past comes back into her life 10 months later stirring up trouble. Nikki, on the other hand, has been stalking Lorna for quite some time because she has a score to settle with her. She's carrying loads full of secrets that are not only hers, but some of Lorna's, too. How the author describes the connection between the two women will leave your head reeling, because everything isn't as clear cut and black and white as it seems... After all, the story is based upon secrets, right?

The amount of weight of the secrets that Lorna has been holding inside for sometime now comes crashing down all around her and everyone can see that she isn't quite behaving like the "Lorn" they know and love. She denies that anything is wrong and continues to delve all her attention into getting inside one of her patient's, Andrew's, psyche. She forgoes behaving like the wife, mother and therapist she is supposed to be, believing, rather naïvely, that no one would ever suspect that she was being deceitful. What Lorna fails to realize is that someone very close to her has known one of her dirty little secrets all along and is evening the playing field of secrets in their own demeaning, evil way. As lies begin to get harder and harder to keep straight and emotions are set on end, Lorna attempts to fix things that have been broken by her carelessness, but her efforts come around a little too late.

I thoroughly enjoyed reading this story and I honestly didn't want it to end. This book was packed full of suspense and naughty drama and it kept my full attention from beginning to the end. I must admit that I became upset with the main character, Lorna, on more than one occasion when it came to her parenting of her daughter, Freya. I was highly irritated when she chose to go upstairs and "work" rather than see to her child and discover what truly was bothering her at school and why she wasn't eating properly or sleeping well. But, I guess if your priorities are jacked up and your attention is elsewhere, these kind of things happen, aye? I will look forward to reading more from Samantha Hayes in the near future because her writing style is simply amazing and I adore books that "mess with my head". Bravo! Well done!

Psychological thrillers are my favorite and thanks to NetGalley, this is my first Samantha Hayes novel.

Lorna has a perfect life with her husband Mark, stepson Jack and daughter Freya. She’s a psychotherapist who we find out keeps as many secrets as she deals with herself.

Suddenly her life begins to fall apart after a client she once had an affair with resurfaces and the twist and turns keep going. Tell Me A Secret will grab ahold of you and trust me, you want to go along for the ride. I don’t want to say too much and risk spoiling it for anyone. The ending is explosive, I actually am still reeling from it!

4-4.5 stars! I thought this was a great thriller, with well developed characters, which you wanted to help or at least see what happened to them! Full of twists and turns and hard to put down. Will have a more full review tonight in Chapter Chatter Pub!
