This book was very good, loved the storyline! The characters were fun and the mystery was well done,
I read this without reading the first book in the series and I felt like I was missing something. I still enjoyed this one though and the creepy factor was there :-)
Writing is very flowy and ghostly. I always like a good story with ghosts and this one delivered.
Thank you for my free ARC in exchange for my honest review.
Rosecliff manor haunting by Cheryl Bradshaw.
Psychic medium Addison Lockhart jolts awake, her brow sweaty, head throbbing. The dream had seemed so real.
The twins, eleven-year-old Vivian and Grace, were so full of life she wanted to reach out, touch them. But she couldn't. The girls had been dead for forty years. Why then had they appeared to her, summoning her help? Were their untimely deaths really an accident, or was something far more sinister to blame?
This was an absolutely fantastic read with brilliant characters. I was hooked from page one right to the end. Loved the cover too. 5*
I started the book some time ago and set it aside several times before finally finishing it over the past two days. I did not realize that it was the second book in a series. Although I wish I had read the first book, the story in this one was a stand alone.
The premise of the story was a 40 year old double murder mystery with a supernatural element. The main characters, Addison and Luke, were a young couple that investigated the murders. There was a cast of secondary characters that supplemented the story but at times distracted from the main story. A story within a story centered around Addison's grandmother's involvement in an elderly neighbor's death. Sometimes, I wanted to skip through those pages and just focus on the plot about the murder.
I rated the book with three stars, as the ending was somewhat rushed and just felt forced, too neat for it to feel real. Also, I would have liked the author to provide more character background and insight into their behaviors. Some of the situations that Addison created for herself just made me cringe, as there were some truly TSTL moments.
I would read the first book and any others that the author may write about Addison and Luke.
Rosecliff Manor Haunting is book 2 in the Addison Lockhart series by Cheryl Bradshaw. I have not read book 1 but will be very soon. I had no problems understanding book without reading book 1. There were references to things that happened in book 1 but there was also a very short explanation that brought me up to speed.
Cheryl Bradshaw really drug me in on page one and left me wanting book 3. The book is short and I finished it in one afternoon. There were no rushed feelings to the book, it was a very complete and thrilling story, even though it was short.
In the book Addison Lockhart has a dream of 2 twin girls. She feels they are dead. Now it is up to her to find out what really happened the night of their deaths. Was it an accident as the Police investigtion concluded or was this really a murder.
I received this book from the Author or Publisher via Netgalley.com to read and review.
Fantastic chilling read. One to keep you awake at night. Whats not to love. i had not read the 1st in the series but am off to seek it out now and hope its as good as the 2nd one.
Mystery. Mediums. Ghosts. Murder? What more can you ask for in a book?
I am going to start out here by saying that, yes, this is the second book in a series and although I didn't read the first one (although I am definitely going to find it now!) I didn't feel like I was missing out on anything. The author did an excellent job at recapping any important information from the first book so that this could be read as a standalone.
This book immediately drew me in with amazing characters, creepy storyline and a mystery that left me guessing until the end. The length is perfect for a one-sitting read and, believe me, you won't want to put it down!
Fans of The Ghost Whisperer (remember that show?) and anyone looking for a great late night ghost story will absolutely love Rosecliff Manor Haunting!
A huge thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for providing a copy of this book. This might be my first Cheryl Bradshaw book but it is not about to be my last!
Interesting paranormal story. Good characters who interacted well together. Story moves along fairly quickly with a few twists.
This reads as a standalone just fine. Plenty of backstory is provided to help the reader catch up on characters and past events. This is a very quick, easy read. I finished it in less than 1.5 hours, though I skimmed a few of the longish dialogue parts because of the fluff. Rosecliff Manor Haunting is completely non-scary...in fact, the cover is the creepiest thing about this book. It's good for younger teen readers because it has the whole murder mystery intrigue without the mature content (other than the mention of Addison and Luke living together.) Everything works out just peachy for Addison, who happens to be stunningly beautiful and has the most perfect boyfriend in the world. She finds her clues and suspects with relative ease. The plot's simplicity reminds me of The Ghost Files by Apryl Baker, or The Haunting of Sunshine Girl by Paige McKenzie. That's not a bad thing at all. It's nice to read an uncomplicated story sometimes!
When I started reading this book, I was a little concerned because it was the second book in a series. Sometimes you have to read the first book to get a clear understanding of the characters. Luckily, this book could work as a stand-alone. It was a quick read but a good one. Paranormal with a little mystery thrown in. Sounds perfect to me!
I love this series, Cheryl Bradshaw is a talented writer, keeping you on the edge of you r seat wondering what will happen next, so much so that once I start I can't stop. I have devoured these first 2 books and I am dying for more. I would read this series for years.
This is the 2nd book in the Greystone Manor series. It is a paranormal thriller. Addison Lockhart is getting "visions" of two little girls, Vivian and Grace Clark who died years ago. The small town is up in arms about her "stirring up" trouble. The girls' mother and brother are not cooperating in helping find out exactly happened to them. Addison's boyfriend, and grandmother are supportive of Addison. Addison has a neighbor that knows somethings about the family, but isn't giving out information too willingly. Does Addison find out what happened To Vivian and Grace? Will they finally get to be reunited with their departed father and move on to the after life? Read the book and find out who was responsible for this terrible crime.
This is book 2 from the Addison Lockhart series. Just a note, I have not read the first book of the series, however it did not make the book difficult to read or understand as this was a different haunting. You could read these books separately as I have, or as a series. That is just my opinion though. Addison is a medium, she has the gift that has been in her mother's side of the family for generations. She can see people who have died and who need her help to cross over. In this story Addison has a dream where girl twins come to her. Addison then tries to piece together who the girls are, where are they from, and why they are having trouble crossing over. The girls where 11 year old Grace and Vivian who had died 40 years ago. Vivian is forthcoming when talking to Addison, where Grace is shy and unsure. Vivian is aware that they died but she thinks that Grace hasn't accepted it and therefore it is making crossing over more difficult. Addison needs to solve the mystery behind how the young girls died so that they can be free.
This was a very good book to read. I love these type of ghost whisper stories where how they died must be solved so that the spirit can freely cross over. It was written very well and was a good mystery. I read this book in about 2 days. It was a succinct book and I would of been more than happy to read a little more detail in it. Some books are far to long and are far to detailed and leave you bored and just wanting it to end, not so with this book.
I received a copy of this book from NetGalley in return to my honest review. Thank you to the Author and Publisher for a copy of the book.
I honestly, can't remember if I read the first book in this series, but it's safe to say you can jump into book 2 with no problem :)
It's kind of a cozy mystery with some paranormal mixed in. I like the characters and the storyline as Addison tries to figure out what was going on . It's a sweet novella that while not an edge of my seat page turner, present a good, solid story that is an enjoyable read.
