Alison Taylor is newly separated and heads out on her first date. When she wakes up she can’t remember anything that happened, how she was hurt and also can’t recognize her face in the mirror. Alison soon discovers she suffered a head injury that damaged the part of her brain that recognizes faces. Scared and alone she must now figure out who is out to get her when she can’t remember what anyone looks like. I thought this concept was unique and worked well to develop a deeper psychological thriller while leaving clues along the way. The more we learn about Alison, her family and the people around her, the more the secrets twist and it gets harder to figure out who it could be and what actually happened and why. This story certainly keeps you guessing and turning pages! I had never heard of prosopagnosia before but it is certainly a wonderful way to add a new twist to a thriller! Thank you Bookouture and Netgalley for access to this book in exchange for my honest review. This Date is released on June 21/18.

The Date by Louise Jensen
Publisher: Bookouture
Publish Date: June 21, 2018

Thanks to NetGalley and publisher Bookouture for the ebook ARC of The Date by Louise Jensen.

One night can change everything…
Something bad has happened to Alison Taylor.
Her Saturday night started normally. She recently separated from her husband, Matt. Ali has been persuaded by friends to go on a date with a new man. She is nervous but excited. She is about to take a step into her new future.
But Sunday morning, Ali wakes up and her life is unrecognizable. She knows that something is wrong. She is at home and alone and hurt and she has no memory of what happened to her.
Worse still, Ali looks into the mirror and she doesn’t even recognize the face staring back at her. She can’t recognize her friends and family. She can’t even recognize the person who is trying to destroy her…

I give this book a rating of 4 stars and I recommend reading it. The book had quite a few twists and turns that I did not expect. The ending surprised me. It kept me wanting to read more. I have read other books as well by Louise Jensen.

Absolutely loved this book! Ali wakes up after a date with someone she met online covered in blood and unable to recognise faces.

She has no idea who is who, who she can trust and has no memory whatsoever of how she got into this situation.

This book is well paced and very intriguing, it leads you on a few different paths before you finally uncover the shocking truth. Dark secrets from the past are revealed along the way.

Great book, great twist, Louise is as fab as ever!

Recently separated from her husband and living with a friend, Ali is persuaded to go on a night out with a man she's met on a dating app. The following morning she awakens alone and bleeding but with no recollection of what happened the night before. Her injuries leave her with a condition called Prosopagnosia, otherwise known as Face Blindness. When her attacker anonymously taunts her, Ali is all too aware her nightmare is just beginning.

Firstly I have to comment on the book's stunning cover art. It's professional, eye-catching and beautiful. I love it for being totally gorgeous! It's sure to stand out from the crowd when it hits the booksellers' shelves in June 2018. Full marks for that.

Now to the nitty gritty. Having read quite a lot of psychological thrillers recently, this one was very enjoyable. The plot was good - incorporating Prosopagnosia was certainly something I've never come across in my many years of reading. However, I did wonder if it was an itsy-bitsy too convenient in regard to the direction the plotline took.

Moving on, I thought the pacing was excellent. It was fast and punchy without any needless dawdling or padding. The writing was faultless and flowed extremely well. This is an author who can tell an exciting, tangled story. There were so many twists and turns my head was spinning. It was engaging, tense and suspenseful. You can't really ask for more.

‘The Date’ by Louise Jensen published by Bookouture on June 21st

Hey, this is my first ‘outing’ into the literary world of Louise Jensen, an author I have read many reviews about on TBC and GR so I was really interested to read this book and see how it was, so let me tell you.....
Imagine waking up from a night out, disorientated, bruised and woozy???......oh ye and also not recognising yours or anyone else’s face!!!!! You know the voice....you know who it is but your brain cannot recognise anyone....intrigued? So was I and this book kept building on this initial intrigue to go forward into a fast paced, dark,at times scary read.....the plot was clever and ‘ever changing’!, the characters brash and in some case unlikeable but all there for a reason and all to form this tale of secrets, deceit and lies
The book includes some serious subjects and I cant say what otherwise it will give the book away but they are dealt with with understanding and obvious detailed research
I found the book at times touching and at other times horrifying, a great mix of emotions to read a book with
I will deffo read the authors prev 3 books and now I know what all the fuss was about
And yes, there is a twist but I wont mention that
Fabulous read that makes me glad I love reading
10/10 5 stars 😃

In a word 'Amazing!'.
The Date kept me on the edge of my seat from the first page until the last.
The characters were built up throughout the book, as the story progressed and unfolded, but far from being slow paced I found I was almost reading through my fingers like you do in a scary movie when you know something is going to make you jump! And the more you discovered about different characters the more you loved, hated, suspected or felt just plain sorry for!

Ali, the female lead in The Date, at times infuriated me, with her unwillingness to seek help or fully confide in someone, but as I said before, the further through the book you get the more you understand her reasoning behind this.

The Date, is more twisty, turny than a twisty turny thing! With the biggest twist at the end. Absolutely fantastic, I shall be awaiting Louise's next book with baited breath.

THIS is a good thriller. It hooks you from the first page and keeps a tight grip on you until the final one. Unlike so many I have read lately, I didn’t question many of the choices Ali made throughout The Date. The very real neurological condition she suffered heightened the seriously creepy vibe of the story. The pacing was excellent with little reveals throughout. This is definitely a plot driven book rather than a character driven one, but even so, the author developed each main character enough to have an emotional impact. I have now read all Louise Jensen’s novels except The Surrogate, and I can say she is definitely a go-to author for me. If you love thrillers pick up this book, The Sister, or The Gift. You won’t be disappointed. I’ll be reading The Surrogate very soon.

Thanks so much to Bookouture and NetGalley for providing me with an advanced ecopy of The Date for an honest review.

This is the first of Louise Jenson's books that i have read and i will certainly be looking up more of her work.. A gripping tale that keeps you hooked right up until the end, where there is a big twist that i wasn't expecting.
This tells the story of Ali, who wakes after a blind date, hurt but with no memory of how it happened (She is left with facial blindness (facial prosopragnosia). Packed full of twists, you think you know where the story is going, then you're hit with another twist.
A great fast paced read.
Thank you to Netgalley, the author and publisher for allowing me to read in return for an honest review.

Wow wow wow! I loved this book from start to end, I was hooked. It created such a tense armosphere throughout and the storyline was gripping. The more I read, the more I was analysing each character and their motives. The writing of the book and characters is faultless. I can’t wait to hear more from this author. Amazing.

This is the first book I have read of Louise Jensen and I was quite impressed with it. It was a real page turner that I read in a couple of days. There are a lot of psychological thrillers out there at the moment but this book really stood out for me. Plenty of twists which I’m usually pretty good at guessing who did it but I was way off with this one which for me is a sign of a good book. I will certainly look to read more of Louise’s books.

I want to thank Net Galley and Bookouture for this early release of The Date. I loved The Surrogate and was anticipating this novel but I could not wait for the book to be finished. It dragged on with unlikable characters. The ending was a bit of a twist but by then, I was just so happy the book ended. I do not like giving bad reviews but this book did not do it for me.

I raced through the first half of this book, but read the second half more slowly as I guessed a lot of the twists.

What the hell have I just read ? Wow, that was different.I am quite often on the money when I am reading thrillers and certainly have an idea usually, but not with this book.I had ideas but that is all they were.Very clever ,not that you have to be that clever to fool me but this book certainly did that.I wasn't sure who could be trusted ,or even if the main character was all she seemed, very intriguing read that kept me interested. No spoilers from me you will have to read this book and be as puzzled as I was, hope you enjoy it.thanks to the publishers and netgalley for an ARC.

Ohhhhhhhh my goodness!!! Louise Jensen has blown my mind AGAIN! The Date is a cleverly crafted thriller that will literally have your jaw dropping! This fast paced book will leave you on the edge of your seat until the very, very end. There were actually parts of the novel I was nervous to even turn the page (that’s my favorite part of a well written thriller)!!! Louise Jensen always creates such original storylines that will keep you up way past your bedtime! The Date is a 5 star read that I highly recommend you put at the top of your summer reading list! As always, I am looking forward to reading what Louise comes out with next!

I have read all of Louise’s books as I’m a big fan, but this one is definitely my new favourite. I was instantly gripped, I could not put the book down, so much so I finished it within 24 hours!

How would you feel if you went on a date and couldn’t remember anything of that night? Well that’s what happened to Ali!
I was drawn in by Ali’s character, so much so I felt her pain and emotions as I read.

This book has opened my eyes to a condition called Prosopagnosia , which is something that I have never herd of. Louise obviously spent some time researching this condition as it shows in her writing.

The book certainly keeps you guessing and is full of twists and turns with a very unexpected ending, which I have to say is amazing!

Differently five stars from me as it is another fantastic, well written book by Louise. Well done Louise I can’t wait for the next one! Please don’t leave me waiting to long!!!

I highly recommend this as your next read

⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️

I read this book in *almost* one sitting. I had to put it down for a family event and I so did not want to. I kept sneaking peeks here and there because it's THAT unputdownable. (Is that a word, yes? LOL)

So usually, I can figure out a good thriller even if it's 60-70% through but not this one! I literally kept ping-ponging ideas through my head to figure it out and Louise literally shut them down in the next sentence. She's good.

Our main character wakes up from a date and can't remember anything. It's obvious something traumatic happened, but what? She can't remember anything, ANYONE, and doesn't even recognize herself. So how is she supposed to know who her date was?

The angst and the 'who dun it' aspect of this book are so high, so page-turning, nail-biting, edge of your seat type of way. Don't read reviews to try and figure it out, just go in blind and you'll genuinely be surprised all the way to the last page!

I have seen her books about in the bookstores and online and never picked them up but NOW I WILL!

Being a real fan of Louise Jensen I was really looking forward to reading this , and it of course didn't disappoint . Ali wakes up after a date the previous night , straight away knows something is wrong . There's blood on her hands in her hair but she has n recollection how it got there and what she has done , to complicate matters when she looks in the mirror she doesn't recognise herself . After a traumatic brain injury she cannot recognise faces anymore . Which makes it quite disturbing when she doesn't know who wants to cause her harm or why . Louise Jensen writes so well you can actually feel the tension in certain parts , there is a sense of dread throughout the whole book , and in several parts i was feeling quite unsettled . Brilliant yet again . Thank you for the opportunity to read this

Wow, this book is truly impossible to put down. Ali goes on a night out, her first internet date and wakes up the next morning bruised and bloody, with no memory of the night and a head injury that means she can no longer recognise faces. The book twists and turns as she tries to figure out what happened and to come to terms with no longer recognising the faces of her friends and family. I was hooked from the first chapter and would highly recommend this to fans of Psychological Thrillers.
