Great romantic read with low drama. Fast paced novel with a great build world. Perfect read for an afternoon. Arc provided by Netgalley
This is exactly what you would expect from the description. Predictable, slightly funny, but really cute and a great summer beach read.
Received in exchange for a honest review.
We always hear there is a fine line between love and hate and Daisy and Cole certainly show us this.
Daisy is a wedding dress designer who is doing good but struggling. She is taking care of her mom and trying to run a business. Wants to expand but doesn’t have the capital. That and the wedding business isn’t on a upswing.
Cole runs a wedding magazine and is trying to prove himself to his father. A father who for so long has put him down and drilled it into him that the Benton men are not meant for relationships only business. After seeing his dad in action, Cole begins to believe this. And when his first relationship with Daisy gets to cagey he lets go.
Now they are both in need of capital and are faced with a proposition. ONe that brings them together again even if they don’t want to be. What starts out as a convenience to get capital for their businesses turns into more. We get some really sassy snarky banter, hysterical moments and tender ones as well. We truly get to see why Cole is as he is and feel bad for him. He isn’t a bad guy just surrounded by jerks. I so want to see his brother fall on his sword and fall in love.
Daisy and cole try to fight their attraction and feelings but can’t. It is a magnetism that just draws them together. Especially after Cole’s visit with her mom. ONly what starts as a fake wedding turns into more and we get a freak out. Cole was already trying to adjust to everything and feel his way into seeing he is more than just a guy for business and see him accepting his feelings when the oomph is taken from his sails and he messes up. Only at this point he begins to fight for Daisy and himself and we get this very swoonworthy ending that has you laugh and cry.
Told from Daisy’s and Cole’s view where Cole’s is where we see the most change and more raw honesty and Daisy’s gives us a lot of internal frustration because she is fighting her feelings and what is happening between her and Cole with everything she has. She has moments where her insecurity flairs and Cole has moments where his fear comes to the surface and he does stupid things which leads to some really great banter but overall you feel the sexual tension and attraction between them. No matter what they believe in one another and let each other know it. They also support one another and defend each other to those who criticize them.
The story is fun, flirty and entertaining. We get some great snarky banter, resistance to feelings that has us smile, great moments that have us laugh and swoony moments as well as sexy scenes. A overall fun book with a swoony ending and HEA.

A fun second chance romance set in the world of weddings.
Cole needs an influx of cash to keep his wedding magazine going in order to get a promotion to the one he really wants. Daisy needs the money to help her custom wedding dress business. They strike a deal with an investor to have a fake engagement and wedding to drum up business for all of them. However, nothing can be easy because Daisy and Cole previously dated and broke up because of their differing views on marriage. As they spend so much time together, can they make it through the fake engagement without broken hearts?
I enjoyed Daisy and Cole's story, especially the last third of the book as everything came together. This is the first in the series and I look forward to trying the other books.
Heather Thermeier’s Wedding Hoax was delightfully witty and fun! I look forward to reading more from her.
We get a couple who fake being together to save their businesses however not only do things change but it is a little difficult for Cole and Daisy to fake this weddings when there feelings are involved since they were in a real relationship before. They broke up because they both wanted different things, so how will they deal with the same issues again? It was a funny cute book and not too much drama..Enjoy!
The Wedding Hoax was a nice fluffy read. The story was a typical romance, Daisy and Cole were typical romance characters, and everything played out as expected. Nothing really spectacular stood out to me about this novel, but it was a fun read and I felt compelled to keep reading until the end.
Daisy is a wedding dress designer who runs a successful business but could use some help boosting her name and income. Cole has been running the bridal magazine for his father's company and he needs it to be as successful as possible so he can move to the outdoor lifestyle magazine. To achieve their goals, they agree to a publicity stunt and get engaged and have the public help them plan their wedding. The problem: Daisy and Cole broke up because they don't want the same things. So now they have to navigate this fake relationship and not fall into old patterns.
This book was funny and wasn't really heavy on the angst. It was a cute, quick read. I really liked Daisy and Cole and all of the secondary characters introduced. I'm definitely adding the next book in this series to my TBR.
*This is my voluntary review of a second look copy*
I received this book from the publisher, Entangled Press, via NetGalley for an honest review. What follows is my opinion and mine alone.
Contemporary romances and I have a very interesting relationship. I say I don't like them, but really, I kind of do. They are great one day reads that are fluffy and bring back the good feelings.
The thing that is great about the romance read is that it's predictable. You know what you're getting and you know what the ending is going to be. It's reliable and it is the journey of the characters that matter. It's this that makes me go back to a romance every so often.
The Wedding Hoax had that predictable format of a romance, but with a twist. I actually didn't see the book blow up the way it did. Thurmeier was able to send out little hints that threw me off as to what would cause the inevitable conflict. It was well done.
As a whole, the romance was a fun read and I found myself smiling throughout the book. There were snort-worthy moments, but not really any moments that made me want to throttle either Daisy or Cole. It was a fun read.
Final rating: 3/5
The Wedding Hoax is a fun and cute second chance romance. Daisy and Cole have always wanted different things and that so didn't work in the past. When an option to help their businesses arises you can feel the hesitance on both their parts. But little by little you notice that what they had shared in the past is still there. I love how well Daisy and Cole work together. They are lovely together. The changes in Cole once he realizes just how much Daisy means to him is amazing. This is amazing read that you can't help but fall in love with Daisy and Cole.
While I gave this 3 stars, it just wasn't my kind of story. Cole and Daisy used to date, before he broke up with her because she wanted to get married and he didn't. Fast forward a year, and both of their businesses are in trouble, and they get an offer to play a couple to get cash for investment. They agree, and now comes the "will they, won't they" for pretty much the whole book. It got so tiresome after a while that I just started skimming. Daisy was a pretty good h, but Cole was a jerk for most of the book, and I felt like he never really redeemed himself. Because of that, it was hard for me to buy them as a couple. This was a first for me from this author, but I would read her again.
I voluntarliy reviewed an advanced readers copy of this book.
I liked the idea of the synopsis and I thought that it would be fun to follow such a story. It does not revolutionize the genre, but it was pretty cool to read it.
Daisy broke away from Cole when she realized that they did not want the same thing in life. It was not easy, but she moved on. Yet here, her business, like Cole’s is about to sink and to straighten it, a deal is offered: to pretend to be engaged and make a false wedding while partnering with a salon owner expo. It will not be easy, everyone will not believe it, and yet they will do it and maybe even fall in love with each other.
It was a light reading, not very surprising but that allows to have a good time anyway.
This is a new author for me so I wasn't sure what to expect, but I was pleasantly surprised at how it drew me in and kept my interest and my fingers turning the pages. Daisy and Cole are exes, and due to a few circumstances end up fake engaged with a fake wedding in the future, however to stop the gossips the fake needs to end up real. Will it or won't it?
I received a copy from Netgalley and I am voluntarily leaving my own honest opinion
This wass my first Heather Thurmeier book and it was a good read. Not extraordinary or amazing but good nonthless.
At first, I really liked Cole. I swooned for the guy. I liked his character and how he was kind and sweet, yet with a touch of sexiness present. But then, his true colours appeared. I didn't love him. He was selfish. He just did nothing for me. I felt like he only cared about his career. It was his one and only priority. I was confused. He loved Daisy, but he wanted his career more. So much more that it wasn't an ambition thing anymore. He just didn't feel right to me. But he and Daisy fit. Surprisingly.
Daisy was ... I don't know how to put into words. Again, I don't know what to feel about her. She was kind and sweet. But she didn't grab me. I wasn't hooked and not that much interested in her. I only felt her attraction to Max. They sure had a chemistry. But the way she acted on it was weird. She had some surprising reactions. I hate the way she bottled up some emotions on the inside.
I wanted more from her.
This book felt lacking. I needed more. The characters weren't that well developed. They had the chemistry, but it wasn't eventful. Their interactions weren't amazing. By the end, everything felt rushed. And BAM the book was finished. It was rather quick with a typical HEA. Would have rated it 4 stars if the author would have pulled the conclusion out better. Don't get me wrong, it wasn't a bad book but it wasn't that great either. The story was heart warming, funny, sad & some times frustrating and I guess I could say it was a good story. Overall it was a decent read. I'll be looking for more from this author.
The Wedding Hoax introduces us to Daisy and Cole, who, as the title indicates, plan to participate in a wedding hoax. Cole is the editor of a bridal magazine and Daisy is a wedding gown designer who had dated once upon a time. They get involved in a scheme to help both of their businesses that almost backfires on them, since they have fallen in love! The author does a terrific job of fleshing out their characters and those of the supporting characters. I look forward to reading more of her books in the future!
The Wedding Hoax was one of those short, fluffy stories that's enjoyable but not really enough to remember long after you're done reading.
Daisy and Cole were once a thing, but she wanted a commitment and he, ever the playboy, wanted right now, so they said goodbye to each other. Years later, when a potential investor in both her wedding gown design business and his magazine business suggests a fake wedding to entice potential customers, neither can say no to the prospect of the investor's money. Thus a fake relationship leading to a fake wedding is born.
While I can't say that I loved Daisy, I did like that she was sweet and independent. Cole, on the other hand, was unlikable for my tastes. He was arrogant and hot and cold with Daisy, so much so that I couldn't stand reading about him after awhile. I never felt he particularly redeemed himself, but he did finally come to realize his feelings thankfully.
So while I mostly liked The Wedding Hoax, I couldn't stand Cole, and I didn't really form much of a connection with either character. Thus the 3 stars rather than 4.
