The marketing team missed the mark here. Described as a thriller this book would more accurately be called historical fiction. Maybe it should be a combination of the two terms; a myller. It is very clear that Pearl does quite a bit of research while writing his books. This book is no different. Boston comes alive in his sentences, Unfortunately, I did love the characters as much as I loved the city. They aren't bad, I just felt like I was not as fully invested in them. These scientists present some pretty weighty concepts for our thoughts. The Technologists is a good book that will appeal to many.
The Technologists sat on my shelf far too long so I finally decided to give it a try as I enjoyed The Dante Club by this author. The Technologists was an Interesting historical mystery about the founding class of the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT). While the story was interesting enough I found it unnecessarily long but, the plot twists along the way made it, for the most part, worthwhile.
