J. de Waal Dryden’s writing is clear and stimulating. He’s able to juggle with the writings of people such as Ricoeur, Gadamer and Charles Taylor and make it accessible to most readers. At the same time, the author is bringing refreshing ideas to the discipline of hermeneutics, while being respectful to the text itself. His arguments are convincing and he aptly demonstrated that the whole Bible should be read as wisdom literature. The book could be used to complete a general introduction to hermeneutics in a classroom.
