This was a very nice quick reading and honestly I enjoy reading books like this every once in a while. It has mythology, so that’s usually an automatic read from me and lately I’ve been drawn to Norse mythology so I definitely found this book at the right moment. I liked the modern twist to it (while I like classic fantasy and historical, I like to see the portrayal of gods dealing with the modern world), I liked Ari as well (our main character) who gets turned into a Valkyrie and it’s nice to see how she grows into the role. Going from your scrappy street survivor to a proper warrior, I like how she apparently has a more darker side that she tries to deal with during some events. I also really liked Loki, but that could just be me being biased bc he’s one of my favourite gods. I do wish that Ari’s relationship with him had been more developed, but I loved her with Hod. It was simply just so sweet. I definitely look forward to reading the next book.

I snagged an ARC of Claimed By The Gods because mythology is my crack and Norse Mythology even more so. Think of Thor…enough said. This was interesting, action-packed and had the mythology that I adore and I enjoyed it but I never fell in love with it.
I did like all the characters, especially the gods themselves. With their differing personalities and quirks along with the dark places inside each of them, they intrigued the hell out of me. The eons of history they have seen and survived has taken a toll on them. Actually, let me step that back a bit, they haven’t survived all of it as they seem to have all been killed during Ragnorök (the mythological end of the world) and then they miraculously came back. If that’s confusing to you join the club because there lies the problem with this book. It had me glued to the pages but it was also confusing as hell.
Why? You ask. Well, because there is one heck of a lot of backstory missing which frustrated me to no end. A prologue of some sort describing Ragnarök would have gone a long way towards easing my confusion. Just saying. With it ending on one humdinger of a cliffhanger, I’m assuming we’ll get that doled out to us in later installments.
At the risk of repeating myself, frustrating as it was I liked all the characters, especially Ari. She was tough, resilient, smart and, weird as it sounds since she had to die before being brought back as a Valkyrie, a survivor. So yes, I enjoyed getting to know the gods and their tough as nails Valkyrie. It even had some sexy times towards the very end but I wanted more. More backstory, more romance, more insight into what made everyone tick and why. Making matters worse, I hate cliffhangers and this was an unexpected one that had me wanting to throw my iPad.
So how do you rate a book that you enjoyed but that frustrated you to no end and had the dreaded surprise cliffhanger?
Rating: 3.5 It left Me Hanging but I’ll Probably Read the Next One Stars

Smoking sexy Norse gods who need help, a badass (recently turned) Valkyrie coming into her own in a new world to save the day, heartbreaking backstories and just enough sexual tension to keep it all very, very interesting. The only thing this book doesn't have....is enough pages!
I loved this as an intro to a series and would have loved for it to be a longer novel. There was just so much that felt rushed (Ari learning her skills for example) and could have been so much more if this book had another 100 or so pages. As it stands, though, I still loved this book! There is just something about a kick ass leading lady with her equally badass male harem (yup, I totally went there) that just sucks me in. Every. Damn. Time. You add Norse mythology into the mix? You might as well have just served me a big ol' plate of book-crack. Seriously, I'm an addict. I need more.
As I said before, my only issue with this book was that parts felt a bit rushed. I think a bit more time spent on development in those parts and this book would be a slam dunk!
All that being said...I am a fan. Looking sooooo forward to seeing more of Ari and her Godly harem, especially Loki....sooooo much more Loki!
Huge thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing me with a copy to read and give an honest review.

This was interesting. Mainly because it’s classified as a reverse harem book. Except she only has sex with one person in this book. I won’t tell you who. That would be giving it away.
With that out of the way...I liked it. It had just enough realism and myth in it to make it believable. The trauma is believable The sex is believable. The emotions and thoughts of these other worldly creatures are entirely believable. The way Eva Chase was able to get into their heads when so many others have tried is amazing.
Don’t get me wrong. It was a little strange thinking that Loki wasn’t Tom Hiddleston but it wasn’t terrible. (I just pictured a ginger Tom...not terrible at all)
The myths that she used as her basis were different than the ones that Marvel uses or even the ones that are taught to us in American Public Schools.
The myths were “true” nonetheless. Loki, in some of the myths, is not the brother of Thor but instead his “uncle” made so because he saved Odin when Loki was younger and they became blood brothers.
Eva Chase also used some less famous Norse Gods: Baldr and Hod. Twin brothers and literal light and day. They have some history that was not divulged in this book. I, and my intrepid mind, researched it because I suck at patience.
And Let me tell you...that is some history....here is the link in case anyone has an intrepid mind as well. Norse Mythology
The book was such a good take on the myth of the Valkyries. It was different but keeping in tune to its roots. I can’t wait until the next one.

Unfortunately I can’t say I loved this story, I found the main character Aria hard to connect with, I’m not sure what it was about her but she irritated me. I’m normally a fan of multiple povs but there were just too many in this story for me.

Claimed by Gods is my first read by Eva Chase, and what a fabulously exciting story it is! The plot is original, with powerful world building and wonderfully engaging and magnetic character portrayals too. The author ensured a strong relationship was built and maintained between the primary cast, and her descriptions of each character were visceral and believable.
Ms Chase guaranteed that readers would be fully committed to this book from her very first sentence, and the story only become more engrossing as each page was turned. I can’t wait to read the next exciting instalment in this impressive series.

Eva Chase is a brand new to me author. I've recently decided to expand my reading horizons into the Paranormal world and have yet to be disappointed with what I've read. Eve and Claimed by Gods are most certainly in that category.
Imagine my interest when I come across a book about the legendary Loki and Thor and ... two brothers I vaguely remember and their quest to find Odin, BUT they have to create a Valkyrie first, I think we can all admit that given the amount of screen time Marvel movies has given Loki and Thor and all things Norse legends and Gods, I didn't hesitate at the chance to get between these pages.
No regrets.
Ari is a strong woman who has had to spend too many years making her own way in the world. Her main goal in life is to make money, keep her nose clean ( or as clean as she can give who she works for) and watch over her little brother. But life or fate has a different idea.
One "wrong place, wrong time" changes the course of her life and throws her into a quest that would leave anyone else praying for a padded room; not Ari though. The Gods chose well.
Ari and the Gods take us through some twists and turns and initially we start to question the validity of certain peoples motivation. And while Eva leaves the story open-ended because -series- it's not in a way that makes you want to throw your kindle. I'm excited to read, not only more of this series but more from Eva as well. I was never bored, which can happen with Paranormal/fantasy books for me and I enjoyed all of the characters and cannot wait to learn more about each of their backstories as the series progresses. I get the feeling that this may turn into a reverse harem, which wouldn't be bad, but I'm open to just about anything right now with the wild adventure.

This is a fun, quick read for anyone who likes mythology, romance and action. I love Thor and Loki from the Marvel movies, so I enjoyed reading about those characters from a different perspective and especially liked the Valkyrie! I will definitely be keeping an eye out for the next book in this series.

I am a huge fan of Loki and Thor and wanted to get my hands on a book that had them both. My heart leaped in my chest when I saw that Netgalley had just that. I love a strong female character who can hold her own and elements of romance can't hurt as well. This is the first in a series. It is steamy and passionate. It's a roller coaster ride that will take your breath away.

As soon as I saw the awesomeness of the cover and the title I requested this one. Besides that I’ve read some of Eva’s other books and I’ve got a thing for gods. If done correctly they power a story nicely. This time it’s the Norse gods. At 4% in its enough to know there will be a lot of swearing as well as Aria pretending to be strong. Loki, Thor, Balder and Hod are the gods searching for the Allfather. Fast paced, flows nicely with plenty of action. A little smut but for most of the guys slowburn. Easily devoured in one sitting and yes does end on a cliffhanger.
