The book had only me given a sample it would have been nice to see the entirety of all 30. It seems like a good mix of teen trailblazers of both modern and the past.
This was a sample not the entire book and sadly at the time of attempting to read it the formatting was incomprehensible and I was unable to read it. It has now been a long time and I am unable to further open the file.
On a side note: I am super excited that a book like this exists and I wish I had this when I was young. I have read friends reviews who loved this - a great gift for a child or young teen.
This is better than most boring history books. So inspiring and so powerful. It's hard to find a good book that girls would want to read that also showcases women who have shaped the world.
The presentation of this book with the illustrations was also great. This book will make girls have that feeling of making us want to change the world.
Really loved this preview of Teen Trailblazers. It was so interesting to read about women from our past but also women in our present who have accomplished great things, especially so young. It has been and will continue to be an uphill battle to earn the respect that women do and this is such a great resource for young girls to see that it’s possible.
This book was a powerful and informative experience. The ebook format was poor but I enjoyed how much ever I was able to read.
You had me at Claudette Colvin! Seriously though, I had never heard of Eliza Lucas, Élisabeth Vigée-Lebrun, Sybil Ludington (The female Paul Revere), Margaret Knight, Anna Elizabeth Didrickson, and a handful of others. Each trailblazing teen gets 4 pages filled with information and accompanied by colorful illustrations. I already pre-ordered a copy for my classroom library.
with how this ebook was formatted I wasn't able to read all of the stories that it said we got. I feel like it would have been better if I was able to read them all.
The digital galley of Teen Trailblazers that I received to review was poorly formatted and incomplete. Because of this, I was unable to view all 30 stories promised (there were only 40 pages available) and I was unable to see the illustrations that go with the stories. I am not comfortable reviewing the unfinished copy I received in the way I normally review books, but I intend to read the finished copy and review that.
Received a sample for review.
I enjoyed the sample and the stories I did get to read. I love books like this that have inspirational stories of women in history.
This is a wonderful book to inspire girls around the globe.
Growing up, I feel like I really had to search for inspiring women and informations abotu them. Sure, I heard of Marie Curie & Jeanne d'Arc but nothing else really...
This book is fantastic has it covers amazing women from the past to the present, nothing I've never seen done so well!
I highly recommend it for girls aged 13+!
I liked this book, but sadly I didn't get to read the full book.
It is amazing the power that we Woman have. We can change the world, we just need to want it and take actions.
Very Inspiring. I would recommend this to any teens looking to make a difference in the world. I would have loved this when I was ten-thirteen years old. I hope lots of young kids get access to this.
Loved it. Today's young people are so lucky to have books as lovely and inspirational as this one. I'm almost jealous of them and the fact that such books (which have clearly been made with love and care) are so readily available.
I received an ARC copy of this book from NetGalley, but when I got it I discovered that it was only a sample [this was not mentioned on the website] and I neither read nor review samples. I do really enjoy books like this though, so I decided to wait until it was published and see if I could get a hold of a copy. I'm glad I did because it was a very fun and informative book.
This book features 30 girls who did something amazing before they were 20 years old. Each girl gets a portrait and then several pages describing why she is memorable and also some anecdotes from her life or information about her time period. Although there were women from all over the world, I felt like this book focused pretty heavily on American and other western countries [and used a lot of pretty popular girls who are featured in many other versions of this kind of book].
My main problem with the middle grade versions of 'famous ladies who did X' is that they often dumb down the stories quite a bit, but I actually thought this one did a pretty good job of walking that line between getting girls interested in the subject and being overwhelming to them and I actually ended up liking it better than Good Night Stories for Rebel Girls [although that book did feature a lot more girls].
I really loved how feminist it was and how it showed different girls all around the world. I didn't love all the stores though.
This was really interesting to read about teens who have helped change the world! I honestly have never heard about a lot of these teens and this should absolutely be mandatory for kids to read in schools!
I also just love books like this?? They're so fun and interesting.
I am so excited to finally review this book. I find these kind of books so interesting. I love reading books about women who conquered the world and it's beautiful when these books can also be read by the youngsters of society (i suddenly got a little bit too serious) because then they will be able to understand their past and how women have grown since then.
Teen Trailblazers has wonderful illustrations. They're so stunning they make the book even more interesting.
In the book the author talks about art, policy, literature and how this creative women (girls since they were under 20 when they achieved everything) became important and changed the world. Some examples? Cleopatra, Frida Kahlo, Anne Frank even Pocahontas (whose story I loved so much).
I loved every story. How the author sets the backround and explains the personal story of every protagonist.
Each teen gets four pages filled with their story and a fun add of some "Did You Know?" facts. So cool and playful.
I have read similar books in the past and I have to say that where this one is different from the other is that it mentions teens and not women.
I suggest to every parent of buying a copy of this book for their daughters. It will educate them and open their minds.
more books need to be made like this. i love it's focus. it's clearly not made for me, so another/younger audience might enjoy it even more as nothing was super novel for me, but younger me would have freaking obsessed over this
I received this book through NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
I am a little disappointed that I received an incomplete copy on my Kindle. The illustrations were not there and I didn’t have 30 stories. However, what I did read was really great and I think it would be a great book to have in my sixth grade classroom. I look forward to reading the complete book. I will change my star rating after reading the final copy.
Teen Trailblazers has wonderful illustrations. It is really stunning. The author chose a good selections of biographies to share. I think book would be very inspiring to students. Thanks St Martin's Press and NetGalley for the ARC Excerpt of this title for review.
