A good read that kept my interest piqued through the story, I would recommend this book to fans of detective thrillers
This is the third book in the series but I read it as a stand-alone which was ok. I felt like you really need to read the others to get to know the characters.
I did find myself drawn into this dark and gritty thriller and will definitely start the series from the first book, now I have had a taste of these complex characters.
Thank you to Netgalley for my copy in exchange for a review.
This is the third book in what is an excellent series and this book is a brilliant addition to it - it is a gripping thriller that totally hooked me right to the end!
I loved this story, the pace was great, the suspense and build up to the end was perfect and I was completely addicted to the story. I flew through the pages and read the book in an evening - I would have struggled to put it down!!
No hesitation - 5 stars from me for this one, I am a massive fan of this author's books and her writing style is superb, spot on for this genre!! Definitely one I highly recommend!!
Detective Jenna Alton is an ex-undercover DEA Agent, living in witness protection program working with Detective Kane in the small town of Black Rock Falls to keep it safe.In this book Jenna and her team are called to investigate a brutal killing of a man, who they find is linked to a pedophile ring .When another body is found with a clear connection to the first it becomes obvious that they have a vigilante killer on their hands. Will Jenna and and her team be on time to prevent the next murder or does the end in this case justify the means ?
Follow Me Home is the third book in Detective Alton and Kane police procedural series and can be read as a stand- alone. The subject matter is a little tough to read but the I did enjoy the twists and turns and the suspect was a complete surprise to me.
I would like to thank Bookouture & NetGalley for providing an ARC of this book in exchange for my honest and fair review
Another great book in an excellent series! It is based in a small country town (but so many murders!). This story looks at missing girls and men being killed. How they are linked and why is the basis of this story. Although I did not predict the murderer at all. Another excellent addition to the series. I can't wait for the next!!!!
Follow Me Home – D.K. Hood
I initially came across D.K. Hood on Netgalley and requested her first book Don’t tell A Soul in this series not realising that it was an American police procedural (there’s nothing wrong with that its just that my favourite genre just now has been British crime).
This is the third in the Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy David Kane series and I have to say it really is rather good. They can be read as standalones but I do feel reading the earlier books is probably better as there is information regarding the detectives’ earlier careers that explains how and why they ended up in Black Rock Falls.
I’m not sure if I’d live in Black Rock Falls the chances of surviving till old age are pretty slim.
The subject matter of this novel may upset some readers and some may feel repulsed by the amount of details about paedophiliac and what happens to young children and young adults that have been abused. I believe that the author has used her book as a platform to put information out into the public domain not just for gratuitousness sake either.
The team has been called to the body of Amos Price and initial findings make them think there’s nothing untoward but looking a little further into it he’s not such an innocent man, he has some rather questionable interests. A couple of days later another mans body is found and it seems as if the two chaps have a connection. So with not a huge amount to go on Jenna and the guys have got their hands full and need all the help they can get to solve this one. It soon becomes apparent that they have a vigilante on their hands and I for one can understand why.
You could be forgiven for thinking that Alton and Kane are a couple they aren’t as yet. They live on the same plot of land and have a very comfortable relationship their past histories probably have something to do with it.
I have to apologise for the lateness of my review I read this a while ago and forgot to do my review on time.
Read for an honest review. Thank you Netgalley and Bookouture
A dark and gripping read that had me on the edge of my seat from start to finish and dealing with such grisly subject matter that I actually found myself siding with the vigilante.
Thank you to Bookouture, DK Hood and NetGalley for the arc of Follow Me Home my review is honest and unbiased.
Follow me home by DK hood.
Sheriff Jenna Alton and deputy David kane are back. The body of
Amos Price is found in a cabin in a pool of blood. With no clues as to how he got in Jenna is at a loss.
The team start to unravel his life. They discover they discover a disturbing link between Amos and the disappearance of several young girls in the county going back years.
Then days later another body is found. Ely Dorsey is found brutally murdered in a motel. Jenna believes that the murders are connected to the Missing girls. She feels that the murderer
hasn’t finished yet.
As Jenna tries to work out who will be next, the killer suddenly starts sending her deputy, David Kane, messages. Is she being taunted? Or does the murderer want to be caught? And will Jenna discover who’s behind these killings before more people die?
This was another fantastic read with great characters. I knew who the killer was but not the name. I was surprised when the killer was revealed. Cant wait for next book. 5*.
This book was a little too graphic and violent for me but I think fans of thrillers will love the story. Men are turning up dead and the killer is sending Detectives Kane and Alton notes to help their investigation. The investigation leads into Child porn and Kidnapping as some big names come into play. Who is to be trusted is the big story. This is book 3 in the Detectives Kane and Alton series. I received a copy of this ARC in exchange for a fair and honest review.
Amos Price is found murdered in an empty house in Black Rock Falls. When Sherrif Jenna Alton and her deputies search his home they find a young girl being held captive there. Then another man’s body is found in a motel room - Ely Dorsey was an associate of Price’s and he too had a young girl in his cabin. Sherrif Alton and her team can only assume that someone is killing peadophiles and as the killer taunts them they are in a race to find the other members of the paedophile ring before the killer strikes again. As the net closes in on the killer their identity leaves one of the deputies reeling. Enjoyable read from start to finish which kept me guessing until the end.
Thanks to Netgalley, Bookouture and D K Hood for the ARC of this title in return for an honest review.
This is such a fantastic read! Books 1 and 2 were great, but in my opinion, this one takes the prize! I was completley immersed in the story, and read it in one sitting!!
Amos Price's body is found in an empty house that is on the market. Numerous people have keys to the house since it is getting ready to be sold. The real estate agents, cleaners, and repairmen have been in and out but who has the motive to kill this man? Sheriff Alton finds a link between the man and some missing girls. It's possible his death could be related to the kidnappings. Maybe someone wanted him dead for revenge. When a second man turns up dead, the case becomes even more complicated. She needs to find out who is involved in the kidnappings before the suspected vigilante killer finds them first but the killer seems to be one step ahead of her.
This is another fantastic book by D.K. Hood. I love Sheriff Alton, Detective Kane, and Detective Wolfe. They are a great team and I love their character development throughout the series. I highly recommend this author and I can't wait for the next book in the series!!
I received this book through Netgalley.com in exchange for an honest review. Thank you to Netgalley.com, to Bookouture, and to D. K. Hood for this opportunity.
Another great mystery-police procedural by author D. K. Hood. It took me some time to start liking the story as the initial chapters described how the paedophiles lured, kidnapped, and abused 13/14 year old children for years and killed them. That turned my stomach upside down.
Once the team of detectives from the Black Rock Falls Sheriff's department Jenna and Kane make their appearance along with ME Wolfe and Rowley, the story flows like a murder mystery, albeit the murders of these abusers by a Vigilante killer.
I was supporting the Vigilante more in this book!!
A good hard hitting story by author D. K. Hood, the story, flow, pace, characters are great. The police procedural works well with autopsy findings and forensics.
But I couldn't really get into the story as the topic was gruesome, and I was told about the abusers' part of the story too, their plans, their kidnappings, holding children in cages... Eeeeuuu I could just cry here😢😭
The investigation and the characters captured by attention, the Vigilante made me root for her, hence the 4 star rating!!
Detectives Kane and Alton Book 3 . A very intense and amazing book . A mesmerizing thriller that kept me guessing till the end ! Definitely a WOW book ! Hood is a master storyteller ! Thanks to Netgalley and Bookouture for the digital copy in exchange for my honest review ! #Netgalley #Bookouture #FollowMeHome #DetectivesKaneandAltonBook3
I have had the privilege of reading all 3 books in the trilogy courtesy of Netgalley. Since I've read all 3 one after the other, I will review them all together. They were so brilliant, I can't distinguish between anyone !
In Don't tell a soul we meet Sheriff Alton. A kickarse lady, that has a secret that she could tell you, but then she would have to hurt you.... no puns intended. Through into the mix a handsome, quiet and secretive new deputy named Kane. He also has his own secrets.... The chemistry between them was entertaining. In this book they have to deal with missing persons. Something that seldom happens in their sleepy town.....
The story continues in Bring me flowers. A new deputy has been appointed at the station. He also seems to have his own secrets..... This book made me question all around me, because the killer I did not see coming.......
The story continued once again in Follow me home. The relationship between Jenna and Dave is continuously entertaining and I just couldn't wait to finish the book.
I hope from the bottom of my heart that will be a fourth book!!!!
This is the third book in the Kane and Alton series, which just keeps improving. The subject is child kidnapping, gritty but sensitively written. Set in a small town in Montana, the two main characters have great chemistry and the author draws you right into their lives. The book can be read as a stand alone but I recommend starting with book one in the series. Another great read by DK Hood. Thanks to Net Galley for my copy. I reviewed on Goodreads, Amazon and Facebook.
Do NOT start reading this book, unless you are reading to keep reading it! You will be GLUED to the pages! This third book in the series can stand alone, and it will have you rapidly turning pages, trying to discover what is and isn't true in the case! Is there a connection to multiple cases, or is the murder a copycat and a new killer is loose? Why the tauntings and will Jenna's team live to the end of the book? You may THINK you know who the killer is, but the ending will shock you into realizing you don't really know people, or the fronts they put on in public!
This is the third book in the series featuring Sheriff Jenna Alton and her deputies. I love the characters in these books especially the attraction between Jenna and Deputy Kane. It will be interesting to see how this develops as the series evolves. The book centres on the murders of men who seem be part of a child pornographic group who disguise themselves by wearing clown masks. The killer contacts Alton and Kane leaving them clues that the men could be connected to the disppearance of young girls some years ago. This is a gripping thriller with many twists and turns and a totally unpredictable ending, I can’t wait for the next book in the series.
Thanks to NetGalley and Bookouture for giving me the opportunity to read and review this book
Firstly thank you to Bookouture and NetGalley for this advanced copy. This is my first book by D K Hood. It was a really enjoyable read and reminded me so much of Alison Brennan and Karen Rose's style of writing. Two of my favourite authors.. I was totally gripped until the very end, Brilliant.. I have no hesitation in recommending this book.
4☆ A Taut Crime Thriller
Follow Me Home is the third book in the series. But My first book. I feel although this was ok as a standalone, to really get to know the characters and to form an opinion on if the characters make good detectives I think it helps to have read previous books.
Follow Me Home is a nicely paced gritty crime fiction, with a dark undertone.
Some readers may find some of the subjects a lil difficult as it does contain child abuse.
This is very much a cat and mouse chase to stop the killer and work out who they are. With a potential serial killer on the loose, and puzzles to solve from the killer can Detective Alton and Kane stop the Killer before it's too late
I didn't particularly like Detective Jenna Alton she comes across as rude and at times a little ungrateful. I get she is passionate about solving crime but being appreciative helps the team stay motivated to help each other. However I can only go by this book as I haven't yet read the others. I could be completely wrong about her.
Follow Me Home is a well written taut crime thriller.
Hood creates the perfect amount of suspense, that kept me turning pages.
It's dark undertones and thrilling twists make for a compulsive read.
If you love taut crime thrillers that keep you guessing then I recommend reading this gripping book.
However I do recommend you start at the beginning.
I am looking forward to reading more from DK Hood!
