This is a really good series. This book is about a peadophile ring. This is well written story about a gruesome and sickening group of men and their demise. I was guessing to the end as to who the perpetrator was. I would definitely recommend all the books in this series.

Thank you to Netgalley for my copy.

I really like this series, I love Sherrif Jenna Alton and her relationship with Deputy Kane. They’re great characters to read about and I love the chemistry between them.

Being set in a small town works really well too, but it does mean that a lot has to happen to keep the series interesting and the reader engaged. I can go with that though as I love the setting, the remoteness adds to the story and there are so many places for baddies to hide.

This is the third book in the series, I think that they could be read as a standalone but it would be better to start at the beginning as you’ll get so much more out of the story if you know what happened before.

Once again Hood takes the reader on a journey, the clock is ticking and Alton and her team need to find a killer before more people meet a gruesome end. I was hooked straight in and enjoyed trying to work out the whodunnit. I do think that this is the weakest of the series so far, but given how good the previous books have been I wouldn’t let that put you off. I’m now waiting eagerly for book four.

Thank you to Bookouture for a copy of Follow Me Home by DK Hood, I was under no obligation to review the book and all thoughts are my own.

Oh my goodness, this was a thrilling read - this series just gets better and better!!

Jenna Alton and David Kane are a formidable team, working in the tiny town of Black Rock Falls, where men are men and young girls are apparently disappearing at a great rate of knots. There are some degenerates living in this town and it is up to Jenna and David to stop them from indulging in their sick fantasies. Unfortunately, there is a vigilante who seems to be one step ahead of them. Can they catch this person before even more murders are committed and more young girls' lives are irrevocably changed? Very tough subject, but the author does a good job of her characterisations.

Gone are the somewhat awkward physical descriptions of the main characters' bodies which were liberally sprinkled in the first two books - we still get a very good sense of what they are all about anyway. I like that Jenna and David (and the rest of the team), work together so well and there isn't a simmering sexual tension or something under the surface, that is rather refreshing.

I give this book 4.5 stars; looking forward to reading the next one!

My review is written with thanks to Noelle at Bookouture for inviting me to take part, and for my copy of the book via Netgalley.
When Detectives David Kane and Jenna Alton are called to investigate the death of Amos Price, they struggle to find any clues to understand what happened. But as their investigation goes deeper, they discover that he is linked to the disappearance of several young girls many years ago. Then another body is found, and the detectives realise that the killer wants revenge. Can they discover who the killer is before they strike again?
Despite Follow Me Home being the third book in the Kane and Alton series, this was my first introduction to them, and I must say I'm very impressed. I had no problems reading the novel in isolation, but there are some spoilers from previous instalments, so I would recommend reading the first two books before you start this one if you can. Nevertheless, I enjoyed getting to know Kane and Alton, and was drawn to their determined yet compassionate characters, and intrigued by their life experiences. However, it is their relationship with each other that I felt really made the book stand out from other novels in the genre. I loved that they were able to share jokes but also made a good professional team when necessary.
In her Goodreads profile, Hood states that she loves "the rugged beauty" of Montana, and this really shows in Follow Me Home. I enjoyed being able to picture the area where the novel is set so vividly, and as the location is quite isolated (to the point where the detectives are travelling there on horseback), this helped to bring home to me the horror of what the victims had done to the killer and the other girls who were taken.
Follow Me Home essentially follows two investigations and keeping up with them both, and seeing how they related to each other added an extra layer of intrigue for me. It was a new experience for me to feel less sympathy for the victims than the killer, but I enjoyed the way that Hood subverted my expectations all the way through the novel. I did not guess who the killer was, and I'm wondering now if I missed some really obvious clues, but I was hooked by the tense atmosphere as Kane and Alton came closer to the truth.

I love being back in Black Falls County. My trips to Montana are different every time, it does not get boring. The weather changes, the team changes and the crimes just keep on changing.

“…Since his arrival in Black Rock Falls, the seemingly harmless little town had revealed a bottomless pit of secrets..”

Who is “she”?? She’s a woman on a mission to remove the monsters from Montana. She’s a vigilante extraordinaire and does not want the police getting in her way. this character really intrigued me, the way she entrapped her prey like a spider with flies and then how she kept her eye on Deputy Kane.

This read is very tense in places. D.K. Hood has managed to expertly pack the book with intrigue and red herrings to make this a cracking page turner of a crime thriller.

I had allsorts of theories whizzing through my head as I read, they were possibly ranging from the sublime to the ridiculous but this book kept me on my toes. I’m not going to tell you any of my theories just in case I give you any ideas who our vigilante is! But put it like this, I did not see that coming!! 😱😱😱

This is the third book in the Detective Kane and Alton series but it works just fine as a standalone novel. I haven't read the previous books, yet found this one totally absorbing from the very first page.

Detective Jenna Alton is sent to investigate the suspicious death of Amos Price. It looks like murder but there is no sign of a break in and it appears that the victim has a rather shady past.

As Detective Alton and her team begin to sieve through the clues another murder is revealed and the two victims have a dark link. The team delve deeper and find they are met with hostility and suspicion, they have to walk on eggshells when questioning anyone connected to the case and Detective Kane especially is treated with contempt.

When the killer starts sending Kane messages the plotline goes up yet another level, because now it's personal.

I liked that the reader was given hints to who the murderer is and actually feels some empathy (or is that just me?) The subject matter is handled sensitively, although there were plenty of shocks which take your breath away. There are graphic parts to the story but it remains true to the subject and not sensationalised for entertainment value.

D K Hood drops in extremely subtle clues, that you will miss if you blink but send cold shivers down your spine if you don't! The book is paced well throughout and it keeps you wanting more from the very start.

The relationship between Detectives Alton and Kane fascinated me. By day she is the boss and Kane respected that, but after hours the couple relax into a deep and caring friendship. As colleagues, they share the same work ethic, they think alike, know each other's demons and protect each other. The partnership is endearing and you just know that if anyone can solve this case, these two can.

D K Hood has created an epic psychological thriller. Follow Me Home gives you everything you could wish for in a crime thriller......and more!

The best novel from this genre that I have read in a long time.

Thank you to Bookouture, NetGalley and D K Hood for a copy of the book which I have reviewed honestly.

I was provided an ARC to read and review and post my unbiased opinion.

This was not one of my most favorite reads. I found it was rather hard to stay connected to the story. It felt disjointed, did not flow smoothly and at times posed confusion from a reader perspective. I have to admit, I have not read the previous stories, books one and two, so perhaps that contributed to my feeling lost. However, this was not what I expected. I finished the book, none the less. I would have preferred the hunter of the “bad guys” would have been able to just take care of business. I didn’t care for the apsect of who I felt to be “criminal” being protected so to speak? I just didn’t enjoy the story, the writing style and it was not my cup of tea. I do suggest you read it for yourself, and see what you get from it. I wish I could have provided a better review, as I don’t like to leave a review that rates less then a five, but being in Netgalley, if I don’t leave a review, well that defeats the purpose of them issuing me future reads. So, again, while it may not have been my favorite, it does not mean you won’t enjoy it!

Two dead bodies are found. Are they connected and what have they in common with previous missing girls. This is a police procedural with an edge. The lead character, Alton, comes across as abrasive and brusque but thorough. This genre is jam packed with excellent story tellers, while DK Hood is not my favourite, she is worth a read.

This third book in the Sheriff Jenna Alton and Deputy Dave Kane series focuses on the search for a vigilante who is killing men suspected of child kidnapping and rape. Set in Black Rock Falls and the surrounding wilderness, the investigation takes Jenna and her entire team on a fast-paced effort to discover the identity of the killer and also figure out the names of all the men possibly involved in the pedophile ring who might need to be protected from the revenge murders. They come to the conclusion rather rapidly that the vigilante is a woman -- but there were many previous victims of this child molestation pack and most of the girls have never been found. Can they stop the killer before she strikes again -- and though Jenna feels sick about the damaged and killed children, she does not believe in this type of vengeance.

Alton and Kane are partners and neighbors who may or may not realize that they are probably romantically interested in each other though they disguise it with talk of "friendship." Both have previous lives doing other law enforcement type of work and ended up, somehow, together in this backwater country town under different names. They're very tough, emotionally and physically, and despite the fact that Jenna is the boss and Kane her deputy, they operate more or less on equal footing. It does, however, seem that Jenna requires a lot of rescuing and backup -- when she has sense enough to ask for it! The characters have been developing and becoming more fully fleshed out as the series continues from one book into the next but the reader doesn't get much glimpse into their personal lives because it seems they are always working or rushing off to another crime scene! I actually like Kane a lot more than I do Alton, mostly because it seems she's trying too hard to be the boss, control the situations, and overcompensate.

I enjoy the pace of the writing, the detail of the setting, and the cases that Alton and Kane tackle. I'm looking forward to #4 and suggest that anyone new to Alton and Kane read the books from the beginning, in order.

Thank you to NetGalley and Bookouture for this e-book ARC to read and review.

Follow Me Home, a nice new shiny book. D.K. Hood has certainly done us proud with the third instalment in the series surrounding Detective Jenna Alton and Dave Kane, its my pleasure to award 5 massive stars, a phenomenal read which will certainly having me coming back for more.

When’s the next D.K…………..not that I’m rushing you or anything!

Opening the first pages, the haunting scenario which envelops the full plotline is a stark reminder of a society that we live in, a tough subject to read but a key element to Follow Me Home, D.K. Hood has not overly dramatized this but has written it as tastefully as possible.

Alton and Kane are called upon to investigate the brutal murder of a man, Amos Price, no signs of forced entry and the house is desolate of furniture, why was Amos there, who wanted him dead. Loads of questions but devoid of answers another body is found.

Alton has her work cut out for her trying to link the pieces together before another person is killed. Searching the past life of Amos, it comes as a revelation that Amos was involved in the case surrounding some missing girls several years earlier. What’s the connection between him and the other murder victim, can Alton prevent any more deaths and bring the killer to justice.

Meanwhile Kane has started to receive messages from the killer are they taunting them or is it just Alton they want to get a rise out of, do they want caught or is there another piece to the puzzle, are they being tested.
Does the killer want justice or just to kill..

So many questions D.K., you had me burling around and around, my brain is like a spinning top, the push, the pull, the intensity so insane but a real good insane, Follow Me Home fulfilled all my thirst for a great criminal thriller.

All my thanks to Bookouture, D.K. Hood and Noelle Holten for the opportunity to read an advanced readers copy of Follow Me Home, all the opinions about this book are my own. Hope you all reach out and grab a copy, the Alton and Kane series is phenomenal, don’t just take my word for it, look at the other bloggers reviews and you’ll see what I mean.

This series featuring detectives, Kane and Alton, has got to be one of my most favourite crime/thriller series to date. I thought the first book was a cracking read, but nothing could have prepared me for the immense storyline of 'Follow Me Home'. As far as I am concerned, this book is the creme de la creme. The cherry on the top. The piece de resistance. I think you catch my drift, but for those who haven't - THIS IS F'AWESOME!!!

Jenna Alton is faced with her most complex case yet. With a murderer on the loose and several girls disappearing, Alton and Kane have to work out which case they try to solve first. It soon becomes clear that one case cannot be solved without the other, when a second body is found. Do they have a serial killer on their hands? Is the culprit of the two murder victims behind the disappearance of the young girls? Or is this murderer working on its own terms? So many questions, so little answers, yet the clock is ticking...

Looking at the cases that Alton and Kane had to get to the bottom of, I couldn't even begin to work out where on Earth they started. How do you find out the reason behind a murder when the victim can no longer talk and the murderer covers their tracks? I mean seriously, where do you start. It was obvious that the murderer didn't want to be found, and without the murderer's identity coming to light, the detectives have nothing that will tell them whether the killer randomly chose that person, or whether they actually had a genuine reason to end their life. Of course, their genuine reason could be unworthy of a killing in the eyes of the law, but that isn't exactly going to stop people now, is it?

From the very first page, the intensity of 'Follow Me Home' was a good 60/100, surpassing the 100 mark by at least another 100 by the time I had come to the end of the book. Where 'Follow Me Home' was concerned, there was no spare moment in the storyline to twiddle your thumbs, breathe, or even scratch an itch - the pace was that fast, and that urgent, it really was like reading a book about a high speed car chase. The thrill of the investigation mixed with the intensity of the storyline was just phenomenal, I honestly couldn't have asked for more in a book, that's for sure.

It was great to see Wolfe come into his own in this instalment, seeing as we were only introduced to him briefly in the previous book. Kane, as always, was a breath of fresh air. I love the camaraderie between him and Alton. You can tell their friendship is genuine, yet you can tell that Kane is aware of the line he mustn't cross when it comes to his superior. He may ignore it sometimes, but he is aware of it which certainly counts for something!

I think I have made it perfectly clear that I loved 'Follow Me Home'! D.K.Hood has written yet another addictive read, upping the ante where this book is concerned, that's for sure. I was absolutely hooked on every little detail my eyes came across, making 'Follow Me Home' one of my most favourite books of 2018. I won't lie by saying that the novel wasn't graphic, because it was, yet I truly believe that the novel wouldn't have worked as well as it did, had it not have been so graphic. It needed that hard hitting, straight to the point vivid imagery, as it brought the severity of the cases to the forefront of the storyline.

A cracking novel which packs more than one punch - I cannot recommend this book, and this series enough. You will not be disappointed!

This is the third book in the best selling series featuring Detectives Alton and Kane. I finished reading it yesterday and it is only now that I feel I can write the review. I absolutely, totally and utterly flipping well LOVED this book but more about that in a bit.
Detectives Alton and Kane are one fantastic partnership. Whilst they don’t live together as such they do live on the same plot of land but in separate houses. Both are really comfortable in the other’s presence and they spend a lot of time together both in and out of work. Alton likes having the extra security of knowing that she has somebody near her home that can come and help her if she needs it. After events in a previous book, Alton is hypersensitive to the potential dangers out there. I did wonder if the pair of them were going to get together romantically but I think that for the time being they are best off as friends. Both Alton and Kane have suffered in the past and I think that their shared experiences have helped contribute to their strong friendships. Both are loyal, strong, stubborn, feisty and determined who would drop everything to help the other one out. Alton and Kane get on really well with the wider members of the team too. I just loved the way that they all worked well as part of a team and each brings their own particular skill set to the table but equally they can all work well on their own and using their own initiative. I just wished I was part of the team too.
I have to say that I was hooked on ‘Follow Me Home’ from the moment I picked my Kindle up. The author’s writing style is such that you can’t fail to be drawn into the story from the first word on the first page. This book certainly hit the ground running and opened with a somewhat disturbing scene which will stay with me and will stay fresh in my mind for a long time to come. ‘Follow Me Home’ maintained the pace throughout the book. This is one of those stories that really does grab you by the throat and keeps your attention until the last word on the last page. Reading ‘Follow Me Home’ was much like being on a rather scary, frightening and unpredictable rollercoaster ride with several twists and turns and moments which you are not expecting and when they happen, you feel as though you have been punched in the gut and had the stuffing knocked out of you. The characters are so realistically written that I could easily imagine them as being ‘real’. The more I read, the more I got into the story, the more I cared about certain characters, the more I hated certain characters and the more I wanted to jump into the pages of this book to sort certain people out.
It’s true that the subject matter in this book will not be for everyone and some people might find it disturbing. Although I found certain bits uncomfortable to read at times I wasn’t put off reading the rest of the book. My background is in safeguarding children and vulnerable adults and it is essential that such subjects are discussed to increase awareness and educate people to spot the signs of abuse. Now I am going to be slightly controversial and say that I couldn’t see anything wrong with certain people being killed off, as certain victims were hardly a loss to society. In fact if I could have, I would have probably leapt into the book to give the murderer a hand, only I would have been far more brutal with the aid of a pair of rusty and blunt scissors. Sorry about that but this is one subject I feel strongly about. Don’t worry people I am not a homicidal maniac about to embark on a killing spree.
In conclusion, I have to say that for me, ‘Follow Me Home’ is the best book of the series so far. The series featuring Detectives Alton and Kane just gets better and better. I can’t wait to read what D. K. Hood comes up with next. Here’s hoping that we don’t have too long to wait. I would definitely recommend this author and this series to anybody and everybody. The score on the Ginger Book Geek board is a well deserved 5* out of 5*.

I could not put this book down.

The body of Amos Price lies in a empty house but is discovered by the realtor. With no clues and no motive Detective Jenna Alton and her team have to delve more deeply. Then another murdered body is found. Soon it becomes clear that the team have a vigilante killer to find.
Though easily read as a stand-alone I would recommend starting at Book 1.
I found this an interesting well-written story, keeping my attention right to the end. Do I want them to catch the killer, no.

4 Dark Stars 🌟🌟🌟🌟

This is the third book in the Kane and Alten series... A dark and gritty police procedural set in a small town...A town with a history of missing girls....

Two dead bodies... are the murders connected and even more troubling are they connected to these missing girls.... Jenna Alton is a female detective with an edge... sometimes bordering on being rude... this case was also quite dark, and I’m still conflicted as to whether or not I wanted the ”bad guy” to be caught... is murder ever justified?

Jenna might not be my favorite female detective, but she is affective.... I also enjoyed the dynamics between David Kane and her.... I liked how the team went about solving the case and I appreciated the twists and turns....

Recommend if you are a fan of the police procedural with a darker tone....

*** many thanks to Bookouture for my copy of this book ***

Follow Me Home is the third in a series by DK Hood. I haven’t read the previous two but this was able to read as a standalone. Overall I quite liked it even though the beginning is excruciatingly hard to read. At some points the book seems to drag and you just want to get to the end. I knew the killer wasn’t the one the police seemed to think but I didn’t not for a second imagine the real killer. The sheriff seemed very annoying to me and was micro managing every person on her team. There seemed no need for that since she had a highly skilled team. Probably too much fraternization between her and Detective Kane. I would recommend this book and give it 4 stars. Thanks to NetGalley for letting me read this book in exchange for my unbiased review.

Thanks for a ARC copy from the publisher to read and give my honest opinion.

Nice cover but the blurb is what sucked me.

The story starts out kind of chilling as a young girl escapes her pedophilic kidnappers. Kind of a sneak peak to what precedes us eight years later when we arrive at the murder of one of the men in the group of pedophiles. I call it karma. Vigilante justice is frowned upon but after eight years of not being caught...what is a girl to do besides end the bastards herself. I'm all for it. This is my first read in this series so I'm not sure how I felt about the job the detectives Kane and Alton were doing. Personally I think they were too into each other and spending too much time together to get the job done. Who has time to do martial arts in the morning when there are six dead bodies and multiple others piling up. Still I could not put it down. Four stars of entertainment!

This is a huge five star rating for a fantastic book.
Kane and Alton are back with the rest of the team and soon have a murder investigation on their hands.
The book starts off from a young girl’s perspective describing her surroundings which turn out to be a cage where she has been kept and abused by a group of men. It’s quite difficult to read but what happens next sets the scene for the whole book.
Shortly after the first body is found, another man is found murdered and Jenna and Kane soon realise the victims are known paedophiles in the area.
This book kept me gripped throughout and I loved it.
I can’t wait for the next one to see what challenges Kane and Alton will face next.
Thanks to Bookouture and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this book.

Wowsers. I am beginning to think that Back Rock Falls may not be a very safe place to live. It certainly has some very deep buried secrets, ones which Sheriff Jenna Alton and her trusty Deputies seem to be unearthing at a great rate of knots. If I lived out there I'd be worried - especially if I was on the wrong side of the law. There seems to be no place to hide, and not just from the law itself.

Follow Me Home is a cracking thriller which pits Alton and her team against a vigilante determined to see justice done. But just who are they are why are they targeting a select group of men? Well, as readers we probably already have a good idea as to the why as the book itself opens on quite a harrowing scene, one where there is no hiding from the core of this story. It is not graphic per se, but there is no doubt in anyone's mind that this story is about abuse, and a disturbing discovery made by the team after the first murder gives some clue as to the extent of it. I don't want to say too much more about the story, but needless to say the killer is not done yet and if we want to find out who they are and how far they will go, we will have to go on this journey with them.

I do really enjoy reading the books by DK Hood. The author does a great job of creating setting - the remote nature of the town and the isolation of the mountain lodges in and around which a lot of the action is set. You can almost smell the trees, feel the danger, not just from the murderer, but from nature itself. It all feels pretty authentic. Wouldn't be a bad place to visit - if it wasn't for the constant danger which surrounds them. Set in a small mountain community you wouldn't think they could get in much trouble but you would be very wrong. Given this is book three in the series and the author is working on more, if I was Jenna Alton, I'd be considering a transfer ...

You are placed in a very strange position in reading this book, one which is echoed in the story itself and the way in which Jenna and her team react to the murders. On one hand, murder is wrong, no matter the circumstances. On the other, these are chilling and calculated murders, but offset against a background of abuse, can you really feel anything for the victims at all?. You will find yourself, as the Sheriff's department do, flitting between your feelings about the murders. I know I did. I must admit, it's a little more fun the other way although a few of the scenes make for uncomfortable reading as we see the victims in their true light.

I love the characters in these books and the way in which DK Hood dances around the clear attraction between Alton and Kane. There is something there although it is not clear as to whether it can ever be moe than a very close friendship as they have both been hurt in the past. It does make for a tantalising read though and there are more than a few will they won't they moments scattered through the book, something always cutting in at the last moment. From a characterisation point of view, although a lot of the story is told from the perspective of the police and the victims, there are scenes set through the mind of the killer and these are quite chilling. Never enough to give you the ultimate clue of who they are, but enough to know they too were once a victim.

Ultimately, this is a thrilling, and sometimes chilling addition to the Alton and Kane series. Gruesome murders and a vigilante killer all set against a story of hidden abuse. This is a difficult subject handled in a very careful way, guaranteed to keep fans of the series on the hook from start to finish.

Detectives Kane and Alton #3

The body of Amos Price lies in a pool of blood on the polished floor of an empty house. There are no signs of a break in, and no clues are left at the scene.

Over several years, young girls have went missing from the Black Rock Falls and surrounding areas. When Jenna is called to investigate the death of Amos price, they find evidence that links him to the disappearance of the girls. A few days later, another body is found in a hotel room.is this a vigilante killer seeking revenge? The killer starts sending Kane messages.will Jenna and her team find out who is behind these killings before anyone else is kille Da?

I really like this series set in Black Rock Falls. The team work well together and have each other's backs at all times. With plenty of twists, this fast paced book will keep you turning the pages. The tension builds as we wait to see if the vigilante gets caught before they can murder anyone else. There is also like the other books in this series, nuggets of Kane and Alton getting closer, will a romantic liaison be on the cards for a future book? With plenty of twists, this fast paced book will keep you turning the pages. This book can be read as a standalone but, like I always recommend when it's a good series, get yourself a copy of the first two books in the series. You won't be disappointed.

I would like to thank NetGalley, Bookouture and the author D. K. Hood for my ARC in exchange for an honest review.
