The momentum continues in the third installation of the Sweet Lake series! Each of Nolfi's characters is so heartfelt, and each of their stories is compelling. The scenes that she sets are alive and immerse the reader into the story. Main character, Jada, is the epitome of a best friend, so much so that she has almost lost herself. She strives to overcome loyalties from the past in order to pursue her own love story. Fans of Tess Thompson's Cliffside Bay series are sure to enjoy this novel!
Lovely book that will make you smile. And it's realistic about people, which makes it even better. Jada, a pastry chef, is one of three women who run the Wayfair Inn in Sweet Lake, Ohio, I read the first but not the second book but had no problem swinging into this one because Jada's story is at the forefront and enough backstory on the others to have it all jibe. Nicely written, with some drama and a big heart, you'll root for Jada to overcome her past and move forward into the happy loving future she deserves. Thanks to netgalley for the ARC.
This book is a fantastic trip to the Wayfair Inn and the story of Jada with her BFFs, Linnie and Cat, who run the inn. The story has secrets, a mystery to be solved, a wedding to plan and get the bride to the alter without melting down, a mysterious guest, a tragedy, romance and much more. It's a book that brought out so many feelings in me. I felt I belonged to the story by relating to each character's personality. I turned the pages like I was living the story along with Jada.
The characters are likable and I became friends with them. I wanted to belong to the Wayfair group. Jada is a caring and compassionate woman. She cares so much for the people in her life. I love the way the story progressed for her and how she worked through the events in her life. I was intrigued with how the rosemary was going to develop in the story. I was surprised by the eventual revealing of it.
Then there is the little girl, Fancy. What a cutie pie! She brought joy to my heart reading her storyline. Her cute personality and child honesty was adorable. She is a little precocious charmer that you can't help but adore and love. One of the lines in the book about Fancy had me laughing... "May the angels equip us all with survival skills when Fancy prepares for her first high school prom. Brain surgery is easier than getting her to settle on an outfit." I loved her so much.
Christine's writing is colorful and inviting. I truly enjoyed reading this book. It's a five "silver" stars plus! Thank you LU, Netgalley and Christine Nolfi for the opportunity to read this wonderful book.
The Season of Silver Linings by Christine Nolfi is a charming and enjoyable novel set in a small town focused around the Wayfair Inn. It's the third book in the Sweet Lake Series but can be read stand alone. The small town is full of endearing characters with the main focus on Jada, one of the owners of the Wayfair Inn and her relationships with her two best friends, Linnie & Cat. A guest named Millicent takes an interest in Jada & the story begins to unfold from there. I loved how the book had that small town feel, filled with characters like the nosey and meddling but also completely lovely and humorous group of women, the Sirens. The book has this sense of community and family weaving throughout the storyline & tackles difficult topics like mental illness & suicide. I found myself having a good laugh here and there and then getting a little teary eyed. What a wonderful read.
Thank you to both NetGalley & Lake Union Publishing for an advanced copy of this book for my unbiased review.
This is my favorite of the Sweet Lake books. I loved the first two, but this one is special. Many answered questions. A romance and a bit of suspense. Throw in the Sirens and you have the intrigue and magic.
This book will have you hooked from the start and you won’t want to put it down. It can be read as a stand along but should be read after the first two Sweet Lake books to understand each character. You will love the characters. All of them. They are so likable and realistic. A few things are explained in this book that will have you turning the pages to find out what and how. Who is who and why are they there. It’s a great read.
I wish there would be another book now. Jada and Philip.
Thank you to #Netgalley, #Lake Union and to Christine Nolfi. It’s a definite 5 star book. I loved it.
This is a definite must read. The series is soooooooo wonderful. I enjoyed the plot, the writing and the characters. Christine Nolfi made the characters come alive and I just couldn't put the book down. I would highly, highly, highly recommend this series. Do yourself a favor and pick up these three books....you won't regret it!
CAPTIVATING!!
Christine Nolfi’s The Season of Silver Linings (A Sweet Lake Novel Book 3) is captivating! This book may be read as a stand alone but to be understood and enjoyed to the fullest, should be read in order. Nolfi has written a trilogy about three bestto invest in a hotel together. Linnie, Cat and Jada each have a different skill set to use to breathe life back into the dying Wayfair Inn.
This quote found at the beginning of Book 3 captures the essence of the trilogy. “We grew up here, became women. Shared dreams, and made them come true.” Nolfi has woven a beautiful storyline for each of the characters and this Jada’s story. It’s a whirlwind of excitement, entertainment, emotions, entanglements and endurance. I was provided an ARC of this book by the Publisher. The opinions expressed here are completely my own and without influence. I have also preordered a copy of this book for my own personal library.
The Season of Silver Linings, Christine Nolfi’s third novel in the Sweet Lake series, is a captivating, heartwarming story of love, family, friendship, and the best of reasons to be honest. This delightful read hosts an unforgettable cast of characters you’ll continue to hold close long after you’ve turned the last page of the book.
The Season Of Silver Linings by author Christine Nolfi is the 3rd book in her Sweet Lake series. The books take place in and around a fictional town in Ohio. The stories consist of 3 best friends, Linnie, Cat, and Jada, who work together at the Wayfair Inn. This particular book centers around Jada Brooks. Jada is a pastry chef and co-manager with Linnie Wayfair at the Inn. In this portion of the story, everyone is getting prepared for the nuptials of Linnie and Daniel Kettering. All the while, Jada is realizing her own feelings for Daniels brother Phillip. Now Phillip, having been married before, has a daughter Fancy and that is where a little mystery comes in to play in the book. I can honestly say that I enjoyed this book the most out of all 3 and even though they could probably be read as standalones, I recommend you read them all in order. That way you will get the total understanding of everything that takes place. The characters in the story are ones you are going to really connect with. I especially love a group of older ladies known as The Sirens. They just make the story really fun and interesting. They are an eccentric bunch of ladies with very peculiar beliefs and actions. If you’re interested in a little romance, a little mystery, and something fun and entertaining, then these are the books for you. I know I have really enjoyed them and am looking forward to seeing what the future holds for the residents of Sweet Lake. I would like to thank author Christine Nolfi and NetGalley for allowing me the chance to read an early copy and express my personal views.

I love this series and the characters. I definitely recommend this series, I highly recommend anything written by Christine Nolfi, she has a way of drawing you in from page one, you won't want to put her books down. Looking forward to many more stories from this wonderful author!
This was a book I picked up because somewhere ( perhaps Amazon?) it was compared to Maddie Dawson. I had immediately finished Matchmaking For Beginners and needed something else quickly to keep the reading magic going.
There was a bit of an American Maeve Binchy feel about this. Even though I had not read the first two instalments in the trilogy (the characters are a conclave from previous books), I had no trouble meeting them and sneaking in a corner of their intentional community.
Filled with heart, friendship and romance, this is the book to take to the beach with a comfy towel and a chilled sauvignon blanc.
A summery read.
The Season of Silver Linings is a fun read, continuing the story of Jada, Linnie, and Cat as they renovate and run a large old inn in Sweet Water, Ohio. In this book the spotlight is mostly on Jada, as she takes on more responsibilities running the Wayfair Inn since Linnie is soon getting married. As before, the Sirens play an important part in the story line. I thoroughly enjoyed The Season of Silver Linings, and I still desperately want to be a Siren! Although The Season of Silver Linings could be read on its own, I think this is a series that is better enjoyed if read in order.
Welcome back to Sweet Lake, Ohio and the Wayfair Inn. Since we originally were introduced to this inn and town, the inn's majority owner and manager, Linnie Wayfair, has gotten engaged and is in the final planning stages for her wedding. A wedding that is only weeks away. The inn's marketing manager, Cat Mendoza, is a newlywed and finds every minute she can to sneak away to grab time with her husband. As a result, the primary management of the inn is now on Jada Brooks' shoulders, along with being the pastry chef for the inn. She is now tasked with hiring, ensuring proper training, overseeing all departments, accounts receivable, as well as being the maid of honor for her best friend and putting a host of emotional fires as Linnie prepares for her wedding. Jada doesn't seem to have time for herself much less romance, but she always finds time for six-year-old Fancy Kettering and her dad, Phillip. She often brings them food in the evenings, helps with bath time for Fancy, and is a sounding board for both Fancy and Phillip when needed. When a stranger calls the inn and makes a special request to spend time with Jada, Jada fears the worst, especially since the Sweet Lake Sirens (the towns matriarchs and sage women) have issued her a warning of sorts and made her a talisman of rosemary to keep as a protection. Protection from what? The visitor is a retired college professor! But before you know, this visitor is asking all kinds of questions about Phillip's deceased wife and Fancy's mother and Jada is torn between trying to help this woman receive the answers she desires and protecting the people she loves. Can she do the right thing without alienating them all?
The Season of Silver Linings by Christine Nolfi is the third book in the Sweet Lake series. The first book, Sweet Lake, dealt with sibling issues and attempts to rejuvenate the inn in a dying town. The second book, The Comfort of Secrets, dealt with spousal and child abuse issues. The Season of Silver Linings touches on a variety of subjects including mental health problems, suicide, the guilt of those left behind when dealing with a suicide, and even gay marriage. Yes, there are lighthearted moments especially the parts dealing with Fancy and, of course, romance, but there are some heavy topics introduced as well, including the always timely issues of mental health and suicide. I have yet to read a story by Ms. Nolfi that I didn't enjoy, and The Season of Silver Linings is no different. I enjoyed the opportunity to get to know Jada and Phillip a bit better and Fancy is my favorite character in this series. (Come on, what's not to like about a 6-year-old that loves to dress up and has her own opinions about fashion. Can you say fashion diva?) If you enjoy reading stories that deal with real-world issues but have an HEA, then you'll definitely want to read the Sweet Lake series. There's humor, family drama, friendship, romance, timely societal issues, romance, and more. If you've already read Sweet Lake and The Comfort of Secrets, I encourage you to grab a copy of The Season of Silver Linings as soon as possible.
This third novel in Christine Nolfi’s Sweet Lake series was wonderful! The Season of Silver Linings is a beautiful continuation of the stories of the Sweet Lake characters. I enjoyed the way the women, both young and old, were portrayed and the mysterious nature of the story. Linnie, Jada, and Cat are close friends who together run the Wayfair Inn in Sweet Lake, Ohio. Linnie is juggling her workload with her upcoming wedding, and Cat also with her recent marriage. Jada is starting a romance with someone herself. Amidst all of this, an older woman appears at the Inn. When the truth comes out why she is really there, everyone’s lives will change. This novel is about the close bonds of both family and friends. It is a mysterious story, with some love, romance, and humor throughout. The characters of Sweet Lake feel familiar in this third book and the storyline brings them all together in a special way.
In The Season Of Silver Linings by Christine Nolfi the saying by Millicent, “once a child embroiders you onto her heart she will have expectations. The story was sad. Dealing with bi polar or any mental illness is so difficult for families. I have a grandson right now in the hospital dealing with autism and mental illness. Sometimes is hard to understand why you cannot help everyone. I am glad to know that Fancy gets to know her other two grandmas.
I really enjoyed the third installment of Silver Linings series. The setting is Wayfair Inn which is owned by three good friends, Jada, Cat, and Linnie. This one is about Jada the baker and manager. She is overwhelmed with work at the Inn. They are planning Linnie’s wedding to Daniel who was helping his brother, Phillip with his daughter. Jada is taken by the little girl and it is having feelings for Phillip.
This story has more of a mystery to it. Which is very good. A guest arrives and starts asking questions.
The story is mostly based at the Inn. This book is about friends and family which turn out to be the same thing! Thank you, Net Galley, for a copy of this book. And Thank you Christine Nolfi for writing it.
The Season of Silver Linings is the return to Sweet Lake and the Wayfair Inn where we find Linnie planning her wedding to Daniel, Cat, a newlywed with husband Ryan, and Jada overworked and anxious as she tries to handle all Linnie’s wedding details and the management of the Inn.
This book has a little mystery, in that you will wonder what happened on March 13, when tragedy struck Sweet Lake, and how its personal to Jada and Phillip. Will the anniversary of this tragedy bring Jada and Phillip together?
The Season of Silver Linings is the third book in the Sweet Lake series, and could be read as a stand-alone, but I highly recommend reading them in order. I think you will enjoy the trip to Sweet Lake, Ohio spending time with Linnie, Cat, Jada and the Sirens!
Thank you to Christine Nolfi and Lake Union Publishing for the advanced copy of this book.
MY REVIEW OF “THE SEASON OF SILVER LININGS” BY CHRISTINE NOLFI, Lake Union Publishing, Publishing July 2018
“The Season of Silver Linings” by Christine Nolfi is an entertaining, enjoyable, charming and delightful novel. This is the third book in the Sweet Lake Series and although I suggest you read the other novels , this can be a stand-alone. I love the way that Christine Nolfi writes about diversity and uses vivid descriptions of the landscape and colorful cast of characters. The Genres for this story are Fiction, Women’s Fiction, Romance and Suspense. The story mostly takes place in the Wayfair Inn in Sweet Lake. The timeline of the story is in the present and goes to the past only when it pertains to the events or characters in the story.
Christine Nolfi describes her diverse and colorful cast of characters as mostly likable, quirky, and fun-loving. Some characters are more complex. I love the Sirens, a group of older women that have been in all three novels. In this novel, Jada is the only single one of the trio of co-owners of The Wayfair Inn. Cat is married, and Linny is a nervous bride to be.
Jada is an amazing pastry chef, and has the added responsibility of running the Inn, with all the festivities going on. Several of the Sirens have had the same dream about Jada, and it looks like Jada will have to deal with the past, to enjoy her present life. Janie has also taken on the responsibility of helping Philip Kettering and his adorable, yet precocious 6-year-old daughter Fancy.
One of the guests is showing an unusual interest in Jada, and seems to be looking for information. Can Jada move on from the past and find her own happiness?
I appreciate the way the author mentions the importance of family, friends, kindness, communication, love and hope. I recommend this novel to readers that enjoy Women’s Fiction. I received an ARC from NetGalley to read and review.
What a lovely charming novel. The Sweet Lake series really are books that warm the heart and give you hope that all could be right in the world if only Sweet Lake really did exist. Friendship and family should always be important and honesty the number one in these relationships.
The author has a way of drawing you in to her story and digs into what heartbreak can be when protecting secrets of the past. But it also shows that the power of love can help to overcome anything life throws at you.
Memorable characters and a lovely read. Look forward to reading more in the Sweet Lake series and other books by Nolfi.
Thankyou for a wonderful read.
I enjoyed this story a lot. A cute story with a group of quirky meddling ladies you can't but help liking
