A story of following your heart and trusting yourself both with your career and your love. Felicity has almost everything, a business of her own designing wedding dresses, a show of her work in St. Moritz between Christmas and New Year, and a successful boyfriend. But what she wants most of all is to be married to a man who loves her with all of his heart. The working holiday in St. Moritz is magical and miserable and allows Felicity to figure out what she wants.

This tale is pretty much a lifestyles of the rich and famous set in the glitzy backdrop of St. Moritz. Although bridal designer Felicity Grant is the main protagonist, there are other love stories set in the past and present. Felicity was hoping her boyfriend, Adam, of several years would propose at Christmas before leaving for the a big show that could make her a fashion star. After harsh words, they are now on “break” while they think about the future.

Through a series of mishaps, Felicity gets to know a local doctor who gradually becomes more than a sympathetic listener to her broken heart. One of her models, Nell, is playing a game of subterfuge with her parents who had an acrimonious divorce some years before and not are being pleasant about Nell’s upcoming wedding.

Anyone interested in the over the top, luxury life of the very wealthy and well-known may enjoy these loves stories set in a real life fantasy backdrop. The storyline is predictable as well as pedantic in places so this book will most appeal to those looking for a light read with a lot suspended disbelief.

The story of St. Moritz at Christmas time, the bridal gowns, and especially the food made this book readable. The basic story was a roller coaster and not in a good way for me. Felicity Grant, owner and designer of wedding gowns is thrilled to be having her winter collection debuted in St. Moritz. The descriptions of her gowns put stars in my eyes. But the side stories seemed to detract from the novel, at least for me. Felicity is devastated by her boyfriend Adam, they have been together six years, and she desperately wants to be married. Adam wants to wait.
A model in the show, Nell, is engaged to wonderful man, but is upset because her divorced parents refuse to even be in the same room together, and Nell wants them both to come to her wedding. She arranges for both of them to be in St. Moritz then spends most of her time trying to keep them apart.
The story spends a lot of time in the past history of her parents, which I found boring. This is just my personal opinion, and I thank St. Martin’s publishers and Netgalley for the opportunity to read and review this book.

This book really took me to a new place with beautiful scenery and snow that I could almost feel. Felicity is a wedding dress designer. She is having a fashion show in St. Morris on New Year's Eve.
Relationships, past history, charming characters and romance all at Christmas time make this story magical.

Thank you NetGalley and St. Martin's Press for the opportunity to read this book.

This book was okay, but not great. The dialogue felt flat and awkward at moments. The backdrop of a bridal fashion show in St. Moritz seemed nice, but with 3 storylines it needed to be better woven together. Overall it was a quick read but not memorable.

A good read although not my usual type, reminds me a bit of Danielle Steele books.

I found this to be a nice cosy and warming read and if you like this type of book then it is worth reading.

What could be more stunning than a bridal fashion show in glamorous St. Moritz, SW over the Christmas holidays?
Bridal fashion designer Felicity Grant takes on the fashion world to introduce her new winter bridal line to glitzy St Moritz where francs are tossed around like candy and no one wears anything less than designer. Felicity and her marketing partner take a team of models from New York to the swiss city between Christmas and New Year’s with plans to hold a fashion show on New Year’s Eve. Leaving her boyfriend, Adam, of six years behind after a big fight Felicity struggles to concentrate on her upcoming show and an unexpected career opportunity. Throw in a handsome Swiss doctor, who just happens to be in the same two spots Felicity injures herself, and a hidden photographer, shake it all up and you have Christmas at the Chalet.
The descriptions of food and the vibe of St. Moritz are vivid and inviting. One can easily picture the streets and the background settings of this Christmas novel. This was probably the one thing I liked the most about Christmas at the Chalet.
Felicity Grant is fully capable of handling her career, designing dresses and schmoozing with clients but when it comes to personal issues like love, she has zero confidence in her own abilities. Instead of trying to figure it out on her own or work through issues with Adam, she relies on advice from a complete stranger – Dr. Gabriel. She’s constantly asking his advice, and making excuses to see him in order to ask him questions about what she should do. Somehow there’s a sneaky photographer that takes her photos and posts them online as fake news, which of course angers her New York boyfriend. The fact that Felicity can’t figure things out on her own gets boring really quickly, and by the end of the story I was more annoyed than happy for her. Her questions, observations, and desires for love end up almost sounding whiny than the almost 30 year old woman she’s supposed to be. Her best friend Nell (who happens to be one of her gorgeous models on the trip and planning her own wedding) points out the fact that she’s asking questions to someone who has already admitted to her that he is completely inexperienced at love. In fact, she should have been asking Nell all along instead of the doctor.
Then there’s a parallel story line with Nell’s parents who met in St. Moritz but who divorced years ago for reasons unknown to Nell. Nell invites both parents to hang out with her while she’s there and then spends the majority of the time trying to keep them from seeing each other when her heart is set on both of them coming to her wedding. They both refuse to attend her wedding because of the other. She finds out the big reason in the end of the story which to me is actually something that her mom should have been angry at her father for NOT her husband. There’s a lot of time spent on their backstory which detracts from Felicity’s story – though there are some slight parallels to Felicity’s own love story.
Dialogue falls flat at points. I could have done without the love scenes included as it added nothing to the story line and only took up a paragraph or two at most.
I had high hopes for Christmas at the Chalet but was disappointed.
I received an ecopy from the publisher through NetGalley. All opinions expressed are my own.

The debut of the winter wedding gowns for Felicity Grant Bridal is set for St. Moritz with more on the line for designer Felicity Grant than just her dresses. This is a charming story of love lost, love found , and possible reconciliation.
A huge fight with her long term boyfriend has her struggling with the reality of their relationship. It does not (or does it?) help that she is seen with a handsome local doctor and the Internet is all abuzz with speculation. Running alongside Felicity’s dilemma is one for Nell, a top model in the show. She is desperately trying to get her divorced parents to both come to her wedding. Nell is going crazy trying to keep them from spotting each other in St. Moritz. The surprise ending is the best!

Felicity is a bridal designer trying to make her way in the world. The story takes you to St Moritz for a fashion show. It goes into detail about 3 different relationships with flash backs into their pasts. The author goes into great detail of the food and surroundings. You feel you are right there among them. Beautiful settings with love and old and new romance.

The first of this year’s Christmas romances for me to read and a very enjoyable one indeed. A light read and when published will be a good ease into the Christmas frame of mind for readers.

I found the structure of this book a bit confusing. We kept switching between stories and points of view. Having said that, it was an enjoyable read but not Hughes' best.

Many thanks to NetGalley, the author, and the publisher for my ARC. All opinions are my own.

I found the organization to be rather chaotic and ineffective. The author tried to include too many different stories in one book. I’m sorry to say that this book was a bit of a disappointment.

I completely enjoyed this story. It took me a minute to catch up as I was not prepared for the chapter to completely change to another character. Once the flow started and the characters developed and started to intertwine I became a Fan. I read with comfort because it was clear nothing horrible was going to happen to any of them. It had a “Hallmark” movie feel where the storyline is a bit far fetched where everyone is beautiful, wealthy, has a fabulous jobs, and in relationships with super humans. Even the models are eating incredible pastries and huge fondue meals just days begorr a major fashion show. The story is set in St. Moritz and I really hope the author got to travel there in the name of research. If you analyze the storyline too tightly it will ruin the book. For instance, Felicity , who designs wedding gowns, is having her majorly important fashion show in St. Moritz. It seems as if her long term boyfriend/ almost fiancé would make the effort to come support her. When he does show up for different reasons, he books his own room. Then Felicity had no problem telling him she can’t meet him for dinner, etc. If the man you hope to marry comes half way around the world, do you stay in different hotels and do you not meet him for meals? I actually loved the stories and stayed up late to continue reading. Enjoy the story and don’t try to take it too seriously. I would definitely recommend this read as an afternoon escape from your everyday life!

3.5 stars

This was a beautifully descriptive book and made me long for winter. I wasn't thrilled with Felicity's love life and much preferred the story of Nell's parents. It was an enjoyable read with no angst.

The cover is stunning which is always a plus for me.

Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the ARC.

I could almost feel the cool snow and picture the beautiful people and scenery.

This book really transported me to another world. I loved the setting of St. Moritz. It’s a place I know I will never get to see in real life. But, after reading this book, I felt like I had just gone there. There are beautiful people, stunning scenery, fantastic sounding food, fun events and beautiful wedding dresses and clothing.

Wedding gown designer, Felicity Grant is in St. Moritz for the debut of her winter collection after having a fight with her boyfriend, Adam on Christmas day. She wants to get married and he doesn’t. Since arriving in St. Mortiz, Felicity has been struggling with her emotions and wonders what she should do to get Adam to see things her way. When she takes a fall on the street, a handsome doctor, Gabriel Innes, is there to pick her up and help her. But then a picture of Felicity and Gabriel ends up online claiming they are having an affair. It was strange consequences that Felicity finds herself in other situations where Gabriel is there to help her when she needed it. They end up forming a friendship and Felicity gets relationship advice from Gabriel. But as more pictures turn up online, rumors start to spiral out of control. Was it just coincidence that they always seemed to be in the same place at the same time? But when Adam shows up, Felicity really has a big decision to make.

A second story in this book was about one of Felicity’s models, Nell, who is planning her own wedding and wants both of her divorced parents to be there. They both refuse to be in the same place at the same time. Nell goes on a truth finding mission to find out why they really split up. The reason will surprise you. The reason never crossed my mind.

All around, I loved everything about this book. And it doesn’t even need to be Christmas time to enjoy it.

Thank you to St. Martin’s Press and NetGalley for the ARC to read in return of an honest review.

What a delight! Pure escapism bliss. I opened this up when I had five minutes to kill before pick up and could barely stop reading it. It made the perfect escapism from stress and school runs and I just loved it.Easy to read and so well written it ends up being 2am and the end of the book without you realising it! Off to hunt out more books by this author straight away!

This was a great read! I love all the imagery of Christmas in the Swiss Alps. Great wedding story as well! The dresses all sound amazing.

Predictable story line and ending, likeable characters. While the folktales were interesting, Felicity seemed sophomoric when dealing with love.
