I actually had a very hard time reading this book since it was written in the dig’s “Voice”. The grammar, spelling and punctuation in this copy made it more difficult to read. The story was just okay. I actually found it very forgettable.
Not sure what age group this ones for, but it's a sweet story that I think older dog lovers will enjoy! I wish dogs could talk like Henry and his buds! Oh, and it seems a British English dialect might be in use. I had no issues with it, but it may cause some reading problems for those not familiar with it. I enjoyed the story anyway! I like animal stories; this one was satisfying.
An anthropomorphic tale of a young dog's coming of age and experience.
Young Henty doesn't know how well he has life. He is innocent and sweet and has a generous and caring heart. His older friend, Bully, finds himself living in the park when his family takes off and leaves him behind.
I could relate to Henry's people understanding his talk, but had to stretch my disbelief a bit when they seemed to understand Bully's chatter as well.
Henry's mama cares, enough, but isn't as concerned with his well being as Henry's father, Alan.
As much as life scares Henry, especially after a dognapping event, peer pressure comes into play and he follow Bully on an adventure.
This is a cute little book about friendship and discovering values and priorities.
This book is funny and moving at the same time. I loved to see what was happening through Henry's eyes.
A refreshing and entertaining story.
Recommended to animal lovers.
Many thanks to the publisher and Netgalley for this ARC
Thank you NetGalley and Books Go Social for this arc.
The book's blurb / premise sounded pretty good to me when I requested it. Unfortunately I found it extremely rough going. The local dialect / idioms used was tough enough, but the author's "stream of consciousness" style left me completed addled. I simply couldn't keep up with who / what was going on and gave up about 25% through. Is this fair? Probably not, but this reader needs a little better orientation before the barrage of thoughts and action hits her.
Just not for me.
Thank you so much to booksgosocial windminster books via netgalley for sending me an ARC copy of Henrys tale by David Pipe. This was released on February 6, 2018.
Henrys tale 3.5⭐️
Henry is a border terrier and he is an energetic, lovable but also very mischievous dog.
Henrys owners Jenny and Alan love him but hes driving them up a wall with his constant marking. (In my opinion He doesnt have good bladder control so he should go to the vet and get checked for a UTI).
I love reading it through Henrys eyes. “Gripped it in his teeth, raised his head and stumbled towards the front door”. Its cute to read how others see their pets and put it in words. Henry talks with his other dog friends which brings me back to my pets and thinking about their possible conversations with their canine friends.
It was funny, relatable (to pet owners) and cute.
