Bishop is the first book in the Arizona Vengeance Series. Sawyer Bennett is back with more hockey action. The Arizona Vengeance Team offers a new cast of characters to explore. Bishop Scott is thrilled to have been picked up by the Vengeance and doesn't waste any time getting acclimated to the nightlife of his new city. After a hot one night stand, he is completely dumbstruck when he discovers that one of the sexiest nights of his life was spent with his new coach's daughter. Brooke is a new transplant to Arizona. After giving up her career in NYC in order to help her father, she never expected to be swept off her feet by one of her father's star players. When Brooke's Dad discovers Bishop and his daughter lip locked in her office, Brooke convinces her dad that she and Bishop are engaged. With a fake engagement, hot hockey action, and passion, Bishop offers a smoking hot hockey romance that you will not want to miss!
Told in dual POV, Bishop is a fast-paced romance with complex characters and a tender plot. Although the premise of their relationship seems to be completely unbelievable, it actually makes perfect sense. Brooke is completely committed to keeping her father emotionally stabilized and ensuring a successful start of the season. The passion between Bishop and Brooke is explosive and as soon as they recognize their relationship is anything but fake, they will do whatever it takes to find their HEA! With plenty of drama and support from the supporting characters, this first read in the Arizona Vengeance ushers in a brand new team with an electrifying cast of characters!
Overall, I highly recommend anything and everything written by Sawyer Bennett. With unforgettable characters and an invigorating plot, Bishop is sure to get your blood pumping. November cannot come soon enough. I cannot wait for Erik and more Arizona Vengeance.
“Bishop” starts off with a bang, and from the first-person narration of both the man himself and Brooke, our heroine, they think so too. You know the deal: a completely out-of-character hook-up turns out to be a player on your coach-daddy’s team, the Arizona Vengeance, our new hockey obsession from Sawyer Bennett.
To spare Bishop from her father’s ire, Brooke hatches a poorly-thought-out plan to pretend to be engaged. Bishop’s not happy but he is crafty so he makes sex a condition of his cooperation.
Bishop and Brooke are clueless in a way that makes you smile rather than aggravates you. He came off as a jerk to me in the beginning chapters but turns out I was as wrong about him as Brooke and her father. Along the way there is a very good villain.
Bishop’s mother and Brooke’s father turn out to be way smarter than their progeny, a refreshing change from practically any novel featuring parents. I enjoyed their scenes very much and hope we see more of them as the series develops. The ending is romantic and swoon-worthy in the way Bennett regularly pulls off, when she’s not making us cry that is, over a redemption we didn’t think could happen.
Bennett leaves us with several intriguing characters whose books I can’t wait to read. Highly recommended, but does this mean we have to say goodbye to the Carolina Fury? Say not so, Sawyer!
ARC supplied for an honest review.
I loved this book! This story revolves around Brooke and Bishop's fake engagement. After a sexy night, Brooke finds out that Bishop is an NHL player for her coach father's team. In order to keep Bishop out of trouble, Brooke creates a fake engagement and the rest of the book is spent trying to prove to everyone that this engagement is real. Brooke is a likable character with a genuinely good heart. Bishop is the boyfriend we all want. The story is developed well and the peripheral/supporting characters are believable. The drama that ensues is not too far fetched. This book was a quick, easy read that kept my attention and left me wanting more. I will definitely be checking out more of this author's work!
This is a new ice hockey series by Sawyer Bennett. If you loved the Cold Fury Series, you will enjoy this book. Bishop was recently traded to the Arizona Vengeance, a new expansion team. On a night out he meets Brooke and has what they both think is a one-night stand, only to find out that they are both employed by the Arizona Vengeance. In an effort to appease Brooke’s father she announces that her and Bishop are engaged. As they play out this charade their relationship develops and they fall in love. Bishop is hot and oh so sexy! Also, intertwined in the story is a varied cast of supporting characters (many new ice hockey players that we will hopefully see in subsequent books) who really enhance the story. I really loved this book, so if you are looking for a well written, sexy read this is the book for you. Advanced copy provided by the author in exchange for an honest review.
It’s been a minute since I’ve read a Sawyer hockey book. Dayum I forgot how hot and sexy her hockey players are. Bishop and Broke started off with a bang and they never got boring. I thought it was a pretty good fake fiancé story. Of course there’s other hockey hotties that I can’t wait to read about. I’d say the only thing that threw me was the ending. It just sorta stopped, abruptly. I was bummed that there was no epilogue, but that’s just me. I’m an epilogue type of gal.
Oh my goodness, it’s love! Another hockey series by Sawyer Bennett makes me nothing but happy! Loved the Cold Fury series and now this too. Love her hot hockey men and Bishop did not disappoint! Bishop and Brooke and their undeniable attraction to each other could not be missed. A one night stand, turned fake dating then engagement with the twists of a crazy “friend” kept me reading as fast as I could. I cannot wait for the series to continue!
This is the first book in the Arizona Vengeance series. It's about Bishop Scott and Brooke Perron. Bishop has just been sent to Arizona for a brand new team after his old team left him as a free agent. On his first night in town he and a fellow teammate decide to go to a bar to try to unwind. There he meet's Brooke. Brooke is also new in town and they hit it off and decide to stay the night together. The go their separate ways never expecting to see each other. Until Bishop see's her in an office in the arena and they are getting close. And in walks her dad-his new coach. So Brooke decides in order to try to save him from any backlash since neither of them knew who the other one was, she tells her father they are engaged. And now they both have to fake a relationship in order to keep the peace with her father and the team. Never knowing how much that will change their whole lives.
I loved this book!! It had me hooked from the beginning and I couldn't put it down until I finished it. Brooke and Bishop both made me laugh all the time and they had crazy hot chemistry on top of that too! The fact that they can be friends as well as lovers is just an awesome thing and kept me reading. Not to mention that they actually listen to each other and what their hopes and dreams are was beyond great!! Even when things happen that I didn't expect at all, they still manage to have each other's backs. The other characters that are introduced in this new series just make you want to read more and more. Some more so than others, once you read it you will understand exactly who I am talking about. If you have read and loved the Carolina Cold Fury series than you will absolutely love this one as well. It's a great start to the series!
"Thank you Netgalley and the publisher for the advance copy of this book, in exchange for an honest review."
Loved this book very much. It had just enough sweet, sports romance and the storyline was great! I highly recommend!
Brook falls for Bishop before she realizes that he is one of her dad's players. So she makes Bishop pretend to be her fiance. Then the roller coaster ride starts. A must read.
Nobody mixes this sort of blistering heat and heartfelt emotion like Sawyer Bennett does. I mean, I approached this book a little skeptical. I adore Ms. Bennett's Cold Fury series, so I know she can write the heck out of a hockey book, but this one didn't grab me right away and I was afraid I was maybe in for all sexy times and no substance.
Wrong.
It starts with heat. And like....~homina~ heat. And then it takes a while for things to, well, heat up emotionally. It's also the first book in a new series, so there's a bit of set-up which took a while for me to get on board with. And then, somewhere around the 25% mark, everything came together and I was 100% invested and dying for more.
Honestly, this was a sweet, sexy, heartfelt story. I loved Bishop and Brooke and the sort of wide-eyed, innocent way they fell into a relationship. I mean, they're dirty dirty, so I'm not talking innocence in that sense, but they both seemed to find their evolving relationship so surprising and almost magical - and it was really hard not to be completely charmed by that.
The set-up for the series to come has me dying for more. There are some fascinating secondary characters in this one, and so despite a sort of skeptical way I approached this book, I am on board for the entire series at this point. I don't know why I doubted, but I'm a believer now and a big big fan of the newly minted Arizona Vengeance.
Bishop and Brooke have instant chemistry. So much so that they have a one-night stand upon meeting up in Phoenix. Phoenix is a fresh start for both of them and they are unknowingly going to be working together. Neither one of them exchanges any information the morning after and both go on their merry way. Things get more interesting when Bishop discovers that Brooke is his coach's daughter. Brooke never recognized Bishop and it stunned to find out that he is a player for her father. Things get complicated really quickly. Brooke devises a scheme to lie to her father about their relationship so that Bishop is not treated unfairly by her father. The fact she introduces Bishop as her fiance' was a bit of a stretch and they both have to quickly lie to cover up the deception. Bishop is, rightfully, not pleased at first. Brooke needed to own up to her mistake but, instead, convinces Bishop to play along. Their fake relationship soon starts to feel real to both of them but each is on guard against exposing their feelings to the other one. Enter a "friend" of Brooke's making a sudden appearance with less than honorable intentions and you have quite the tale to read. I liked how the book took an old stand=by of finding love when it's least expected and turning it kind of on its head. I liked both Brooke and Bishop and thought they had great chemistry. Their reluctance to name what they were doing after a while was believable and so was their reactions to events that take place. It was a good, solid read and I look forward to the next book in this series.
I received an ARC from NetGalley for my honest review. .
This was a great start to the Vengeance Hocky series. After a one night stand Brooke and Bishop manage to get themselves caught up in a fake relationship and as they come to know one another what’s real and what fake becomes more blurred. This was a entertaining read and I can’t wait for the rest of the guys stories. #Bishop #NetGalley
I'm so pumped for this Arizona Vengeance series. Bishop is good to start with. Especially since, you know, he's faking an engagement with the coach's daughter after a one night stand. WHAT?! So this is a good mix of sports romance and fake fiance.
Brooke is a character who is easy to love. She's sincere, smart, independent. Even when old friends walk all over her, or she's lying to everyone about the status of her relationship. Bishop is a good teammate, close with his mama (aww) and a considerate boyfriend. With a protective streak that's hot! I love these two together and even on their own, hope to get updates on them in future books.
We are also introduced to more team members, and they all look promising for the series! If the rest are as good as book one, I can say this series is going to be at least as awesome as the Carolina Cold Fury series.
Sexy, romantic, funny and so easy to read. Bishop was a really enjoyable page turner for me. I loved the premise of the story and Sawyer's fresh outlook and take on it. A great start to a new hockey series, I LOVED IT.
This book was entertaining and I was excited that we have a new series by Sawyer and regarding my favorite sport, Hockey!! I had read some reviews before reading and unfortunately was a little wary and surprised by some of the harshness, however I must say that I didn't agree with them I enjoyed the book as I have with previous work from Sawyer, so I implore you to give it a chance and make your own decision. So that being said in this book we meet Bishop who is instantly attracted to Brooke when he sees her in a bar. Brooke is also attracted to Bishop, they spent a hot one night stand or so they thought come to find out that Brooke is the daughter of his new coach!, and they get caught making out and Brooke spontaneously announces that she is engaged to Bishop. As they try and lie their way out of it they end up making their relationship true. Of course we have obstacles to overcome, and a crazy situation to get through. I loved the secondary characters and can't wait to read more about them. Enjoy!
I wasn't sure of this book as the "engagement" farce was laid out at the start. I get why Brooke said what she did, it was a good way to protect Bishop, but you knew it would blow up. I have to say it did blow up about the way that I thought it would, although I sort of expected Bishop to be more involved in some sort of messiness with the blow up.
What I did really like about this one was that neither Brooke of Bishop really fought the fake engagement. I think a lot of that had to due with the connection they felt. I liked that they used to time to get to know each other and actually really date.
I liked how this one ended, liked that the nasty person didn't cause near the amount of damage they planned and how dad proved, you should never bullshit a dad, they know all!
Bishop was an easy and entertaining summer read. The main characters, Bishop and Brooke, meet at a bar and spend the night together. The book moves on quickly and they find themselves faking their engagement to please her dad. It was fun seeing them get to know eachother while keeping up the façade of being engaged. Overall the story was a basic one about a couple that fell into love pretty quickly. It had some pretty funny moments and banter between the two characters.
I got frustrated with Brooke and how she couldn't seem to stand on her own despite saying she was independent. Her only sign of true independence was moving to help her dad, everything else seemed to have her rely on someone else. Her job was made for her because of her dad, Bishop handled Nanette for her, etc. The whole premise of the book was to fake an engagement to not upset her dad, which kind of goes against her being an independent modern woman. My other character gripe was Bishop quasi-demanding that if he was going to play along they were going to have sex. It just rubbed me wrong that that would be an expectation. I didn't find it to be an alpha male move but more of a douchebag move.
I liked the Nanette twist and I kind of wish there was more to it. I couldn't believe that Brooke would be such a pushover when it came to Nanette though. I didn't like that she just let her walk all over her and I didn't like her reaction when she was confronted by management about her. I would have liked a little more resolution at the end of the book regarding Nanette but maybe we will get a glimpse of that in later books.
The ending was a shame because, despite my gripes, I enjoyed the book. I thought it deserved a little better ending than the abrupt one we were given. I'm sure we will see more of Bishop and Brooke in later books but it did put a damper on it.

This was a well-written romance. It had all the things needed to really be hot, hot, hot...but I found the storyline a little lacking. I would have liked to see a more independent character free from her father, and for the hero to do a few things differently. The whole "fake fiance" plot is fine, as long as I feel like nobody is taken advantage of. I didn't appreciate the hero calling a female character a b-word...it just really left a bad taste in my mouth. :( I am in no way giving up on Sawyer Bennett! This one just didn't work for me.
Pro hockey player meets sexy woman and they have great sex. Then he discovers that she’s the daughter of his new hockey coach so she lies and says they’re engaged. So now they have to pretend to be a couple so they might as well have some more great sex. They grow to like each other so then they have some more great sex. There is a subplot about a wicked supposed friend of the heroine and the problems she causes, but that all gets wrapped up pretty easily. And then they have some more hot sex.
There was the makings of an interesting storyline here if there had been maybe more conflict with their pretend engagement instead of having that go so smoothly. Or the problems caused by the evil, fake friend could have led to more plot complications, but that all got wrapped up pretty smoothly.
I voluntarily reviewed an advanced reader copy of this book that I received from Netgalley; however, the opinions are my own and I did not receive any compensation for my review.
Not only is this the first book of a new series, it is also the first of a new team. We really get to know a lot of the players in, Bishop. I can't express enough how much I loved this book and can't wait for more.
