What happens when you start a new hockey team in Arizona? The temperature isn't the only thing that can melt the ice.
Meet Bishop Scott, co-captain and one sexy man and when he is on the ice he is even sexier. While out with his buddies one night, he meets Brooke and thinks she would be the perfect distraction for one night. But he realizes after he leaves her, that he would like to know her better. But he doesn't have a way to get in touch with her.
Brooke has turned down a few guys at the bar but when Bishop walks up to her she wants to take him home. He is sweet and caring and just what she needs. A distraction for one night. They don't talk about what will happen tomorrow. All that matters is tonight.
When Bishop happens upon Brooke in one of the offices at the Vengeance arena, it turns out to be her office. And not just that, she is his new coach's daughter. So why is it when her dad, my boss, walks in, she introduces me as her fiance? Oh this is going to be bad and not in a good way.
Can Bishop and Brooke keep up the farce until the time is right to end it without anyone getting hurt? Will they both fall in love for real? What happens if their secret gets out?
I loved everything about the Carolina Cold Fury series but I think Bishop might be my new favorite. Starting a new series for me is always exciting because of the new characters and what their lives have in store is always fun. And Sawyer Bennett knows how to deliver on sexy, hot hockey men. So sit back and enjoy this book and have a fan handy, you are going to need it.

Shockingly, this was my first ever book by this author, and I LOVED it. I can't wait to read more in this series! 4.5 Stars.
Bishop Scott is a star. A star so bright (and with such a high salary), that his old team allowed him to be picked up by the new NHL expansion team, the Arizona Vengeance, to alleviate their financial burden. He's not thrilled to be in Phoenix, but at least his best friend, roommate, and teammate, Dax, was picked up by the team as well, and has made the trip with him. The night before he is due for his first team meeting, he goes out to scope out his new city, and ends up in a local bar. There he meets a gorgeous woman and goes home with her for one night of fun. And, boy, did they have fun. The next morning when he sees her at the arena offices, he's shocked, but thrilled. At least until he figures out who she actually is: his new coach's daughter!
Brooke Perron is hanging on by a thread. She's relocated to Phoenix with her father, to help look out for him. He lost his wife, and Brooke's mother, about a year before, and he's not dealt with it well at all. Brooke has been there for him and has been worrying after him constantly. But now, she's starting to regret her decision to relocate. She's homesick for NYC, and she misses her old boss, and the job she loved. She's feeling out of sorts when Bishop approaches her at the bar, and she enjoyed his help getting her out of her own head for the night. But the next day when her dad busts into her office to catch her and Bishop in a compromising position, she decides to say that Bishop is her fiance. She can't have her father blow his lid, and take his anger out on Bishop. How hard can it be to fake a romance?
Bishop and Brooke had chemistry like whoa, and their connection was super hot. I loved their banter, and their honesty in their dealings with each other. Once they decide to go on with the charade of their fake relationship, they settle into a bit of a comfortable pattern. Next thing you know, it's not feeling fake at all, and neither of them know what to do about it. I love a fake relationship trope, and this one was so fun, and very well done. Both Brooke and Bishop had their reasons for going along with the plan, and I loved watching them both realize that they were falling in love for real. Their sexy times were super steamy, and I enjoyed the author's style in this regard.
I love the bits of the practices and games we got to see here too. I like a sports romance that at least has a bit of the actual sport playing out in it! It was fascinating to me to witness Bishop's process getting ready for his game days and the like. I had fun getting into that aspect of the story, but it wasn't too much information that it would turn off someone who wasn't really into the sport.
The side characters here were so much fun too, and I can't wait to get to know the other guys better. They all have good intros here in this story, and I enjoyed the bits I got for each of them, and I'm glad we get Erik's story next! Nothing like a reformed player! I look forward to it. My only real gripe here was some of the small things left slightly unfinished, or undetermined. Also, I would have loved an epilogue. I'm a total sucker for an epilogue. But, I get the feeling we'll be seeing a bit more of Bishop and Brooke in the future books. At least I hope so! Overall, I highly recommend this one!
All Bishop was looking for was a one night stand to help him settle into his new city before the start of a new season. He didn’t move by choice, preferring to stay with his North Carolina Fury teammates, but when he is not put on a short list of players off limits to selection in the forming of the new team, he wasn’t surprised when he is selected to go to Arizona. What does surprise him is finding his one night stand in the team offices the next day. They had great chemistry and he was already regretting not getting her contact information, so things are looking up. At least they are until her father, the Vengeance head coach, catches them in a compromising position in her office. Suddenly, Bishop is introduced as her fiance and they find themselves in a ruse that keeps getting bigger.
These two have great chemistry from the beginning. They just click together and even before they think there could be something more, they find themselves in easy conversation, thinking about the other when they aren’t together.
The fake engagement drives much of the drama between them, but the overall drama level is low, all things considered. There were times the story felt a little on the predictable side and I wished there was something more to the story. Despite that, I was interested in the characters, the development of the new team, and some of the backstories of teammates sprinkled along the way.
The first in a new hockey series from Sawyer Bennett, Bishop introduces not only a new couple but a completely new team as well. This was a fun introduction to a new team and new region and set of characters. I look forward to learning more about several of Bishop’s teammates, as well as hopefully getting more glimpses of Bishop and Brooke as their relationship continues to develop.
I received a copy for free from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review. This does not affect my opinion of the book or the content of my review.
The Cold Fury series may be over but the Arizona Vengeance will fill the void quite nicely and Bishop is an amazing way to kick off this new series. Bishop is seriously hot and one night with him is too hard for Brooke to pass up. Never expecting to see him again she's shocked when he walks at the Vengeance Arena. Of course it's just her luck that he turns out to be one of the players. When her father, who happens to be the head coach of the Vengeance, catches them in a serious lip lock Brooke blurts out the first thing that comes to mind! Now things really get fun.
As always with Sawyer Bennett books the writing is exceptional with a nice fluid pace to the story and the characters will grab your attention right from the start. I can't wait for the next book and I think this one needs to be on everyone's must read list. I highly recommend it.
The Cold Fury Series may have come to an end but what can I say about Bishop book 1 in the new hockey series the Arizona Vengeance apart from it’s a must read for all ice hockey lovers.
Bishop Scott has been traded to a new expansion team and he’s not happy about it could a chance meeting in a bar with a gorgeous girl make the difference but it was meant to be a one night stand of sizzling hot passion he wasn’t meant to see Brooke again so why is he facing her when he reports for training the next day........
Brooke Perron has moved from NYC to be closer to her father who is still grieving over losing his wife and her mother a year ago, he is the trainer for the Arizon Vengeance how will he react when he catches Scott and Brooke making out ....
A fake relationship to keep her father happy turns into a fake engagement which along the way somehow turns into love. This book has it all you will laugh at the witty banter the characters all have with each other, you will wish for a HEA for Scott and Brooke who you can’t help falling in love with and you will end up wanting more from the hot players of the Arizona Vengeance this is a great Read for all hockey fans and a great read for all lovers of romance with characters who will have you smiling and cheering along side them. Brilliant start to a new series.
I received this book through NetGalley. I had no idea what it was about but loved her previous works. This book did not disappoint a bit. From the first page it instantly had me hooked. It was such an easy read that I read it within a few hours. It entails a bit of comedy, drama, hockey games, and romance. I love it when Bishop will be in charge in the bedroom.
Bishop is a hockey player being transferred to a new team. This team is starting new with players from other teams. The staff is new as well. I don't want to spoil this one. Just know I loved it and can't wait to read the next one.
Bishop has just been hired by the new hockey team Arizona Vengeance in Phoenix and on his first night there, he has a one-night stand with Brooke. But the next day when he is walking down the hall of the Vengeance's office, he stumbles upon Brooke behind a desk. Brooke's mother passed away less than a year ago and her father is not doing well without her. So when her father takes the job of Coach for the Arizona Vengeance, he gets her a job there as well and she'll stay with him until he's doing better. But when her one-night stand comes strolling into her office and closes the door, she can't help but fall right into his arms. Only her father walks in on them and to save Bishop's job, Brooke tells her father that they are engaged. When Bishop agrees to this "fake engagement" ... the chaos begins.
This is a sweet romance with a hot hockey player who has a heart of gold ... who wouldn't love it? I couldn't help but fall in love with Bishop. And Brooke is a girl just trying to help her father adjust to a different life. But I just couldn't get over the fact that she said they were engaged! Why didn't she just say they were dating ... it would have been more believable and this book would have gotten 5 stars from me. I also loved the supporting characters ... I can't wait for the next book (Eric). I don't see a book with Tracker yet ... but I sure hope there is, because you just know there is a heartbreaking story there. A great start to another wonderful hockey series by Ms. Bennett ... I loved her Cold Fury Series and can't wait for the rest of this series.

This story! I LOVED it! I have always enjoyed Sawyer's books. They are all written a little differently. This book is a great add to her collection. Bishop and Brooke were, smart, funny, witty and oh so hot! After reading this book, I am SO looking forward to this series!
A new team, a new city.... lots of characters to play off of in this book and moving forward there is so much possibility. Bishop and Brooke were the perfect pair to introduce us to the crew.
An amazing one night stand that will mean more than either of them can even imagine.... The fun begins when the Head Coach and her dad of his new team walks in on when they reconnect the day after and sparks are flying.... is the spark between them enough to make it last? Lies, they all come out in the end. Relationships are on the line, their relationship, relationships between them and their friends and teammates, their relationship with their parents, impacts on their careers and their future. Can everyone see it but them? They are truly falling for each other, but will they figure it out in time to make it work?
LOVED IT!
I loved this first book in Sawyer Bennett's new series! No one writes Hockey romances like Sawyer! This was a fresh spin on the fake romance situation, i really enjoyed it! She is very talented at writing sports romances. Her stories are always fresh. I highly recommend this new series, I can not wait for the next one!
I read this over a 2 day period, it was hard to put down, but I had to go to work. it really makes you want to keep reading it! 4 and 1/2 stars
I love everything Sawyer Bennett writes, especially her books about sexy hockey players. So naturally, I was excited to learn she is starting the new Arizona Vengeance hockey series. The Arizona Vengeance are a new hockey franchise and the owner has been able to hire some of the best players from all the teams around the country. This first story in the series is about Bishop, one of the players traded to the Arizona Vengeance.
Bishop is still adjusting to his trade when, just before training camp starts, he meets Brooke at a bar and they have a one-night stand. Afterwards, Bishop discovers Brooke is his new coach’s daughter and she also works for the Arizona Vengeance. Bishop is surprised and nervous by this turn of events. When Bishop's new coach finds him kissing Brooke, they decide to pretend they are in a relationship.
Bishop and Brooke try to keep their distance from each other, but circumstances keep bringing them together. As they spend more time together, they discover they have a lot in common, enjoy each other’s company and share a lot of chemistry. I liked both Bishop and Brooke and thought they complement each other. Bishop is a great guy; he is caring and protective of Brooke and he also has a good relationship with his teammates. Brooke is sweet, has a big heart and she can’t help herself from falling for Bishop.
This is a feel good, fun story with great writing and dialogue. The characters are easy to connect with and there are lots of entertaining secondary characters. I can’t wait I read more books in this series.
I grew up in NE MA, where hockey and football were the most watched sports in my house. I remember hearing my parents screaming at the TV during any of the Boston Bruins games. Fast forward 20 or so years and I discover hockey romance novels. I was thrilled. Then I read too much and got burnt out by. When I saw the Sawyer Bennett had a new series starting, I debated on if I should read it because I was burnt out on them. I took the chance and I am glad that I did. This was a GOOD book.
Bishop's plot was simple. Bishop had been traded from his previous team to a new team in Arizona. While celebrating in a bar, pre-season, he meets a smoking hot brunette. Thinking it is a one night stand, Bishop is floored to discover that his one-night stand works for the team. Deciding that could be a good thing, he makes a move on the brunette. Only to discover, a few minutes later, that she is the daughter of his new coach. He is soon in a fake relationship with Brooke. A fake relationship that begins to feel all too real.
I didn't know what I thought about Bishop at the beginning of the book. He was cocky and he most definitely needed to be taken down a peg. As the book went on, I began to see a different side of Bishop. A side of him that I liked. He saw that Brooke was the type of person who couldn't say no to someone and he stepped in to do it for her. The man who he became at the end of the book was a man that I had seen glimpses of in the book. I loved it!!
As much as I liked Brooke, I wanted to shake her. I understood why she told her father that Bishop and she were engaged but at the same time, I was like "Whyyyyyy". Then the whole fiasco with Nannette. I didn't understand why she couldn't have told her to leave. I would have thrown her nasty butt out the first time she pulled the crap she pulled. What I didn't doubt was what she felt for Bishop. That came across crystal clear.
The chemistry between Brooke and Bishop was red hot. Even though they had sex within the first chapter, it didn't take away from their chemistry. Instead, as weird as this sounds, it increased the chemistry. You will not find me saying that again.
Because the chemistry was so red-hot, the sex was insane. What got me was the Brooke was a dirty girl. She was a freak in bed. Which Bishop loved. Because Bishop was as freaky. A match made in sexual heaven.
Let's talk about Nannette for a minute. I disliked her. She was a witch with a b. The things she put Brooke through was awful. She was the houseguest from hell. I don't understand why Brooke didn't boot her sooner. Her confession to Bishop and what she did afterward only cemented my dislike for her. I hope that she stays gone from this series.
The end of Bishop tugged on my heartstrings. I will say that I laughed when Brooke's father confronted Bishop. All I have to say is "Go Dad"...lol. The end of the book made my heart jump a beat and brought a huge smile to my face.
What I liked about Bishop:
A) A hockey romance that I loved
B) Bishop's transformation during the book
C) The chemistry and sex. Hot!!!
What I disliked about Bishop:
A) How cocky Bishop was in the beginning
B) Brooke letting people (ie Nannette) push her around
C) Nannette. She was vile
I gave Bishop a 4-star rating. I enjoyed reading this book. It was a quick read with enjoyable characters and hot sexual situations. The beginning of the book didn't jive with me as did the storyline with Nannette.
I would give Bishop an Adult rating. There is explicit sex. There is language. There is mild violence. I would recommend that no one under the age of 21 read this book.
I would reread Bishop. I would also recommend it to family and friends.
I would like to thank Random House Publishing Group, Loveswept, and NetGalley for allowing me to read and review Bishop.
All opinions stated in this review of Bishop are mine.
**I chose to leave this review after reading an advance reader copy**
I had just finished a book about pretending to be in a relationship and it turns into more, so when I started this I thought “oh, another one”.
I have to say this book was well written in the ice hockey department, the two main characters had instant “bed” chemistry and the other guys in the book left an impression (as in I’d like to know their story too!). Now Nanette was a crazy person from the get go, so I knew she’d be a problem. The last three chapters of the book seemed a bit rushed.
I received this ebook from the publisher and NetGalley for an honest review.

Sawyer has written for us a new team of hot hockey players and they are a new breed of alphas. We all know what happens when your relationship starts out as pretend and then you muddy the waters with an intimate relationship it will cause it to combust. When our two characters meet for that one night they do not know that their lives are going to blow up in their faces. They both just wanted one night, so when Bishop walks into the new hockey stadium he doesn’t expect to see Brooke in one of the offices. Brooke walked out on Bishop so when he sees her again he wants to have another night. Something happens that they do expect and its that his new coach is Brooke’s father. When they get caught Brooke lies and it all goes downhill from there. A relationship built on a lie isn’t what Bishop was looking for but his attraction to Brooke is out weighing how uncomfortable he feels about lying. Then they both start muddying the waters with their intense attraction to one another and they give into their urges. They decide to give their relationship a chance when someone on the outside is trying to destroy what they have.
I love this new series so far even though it was a quick read because I did want more. It has drama, jealous girls, chemistry off the charts, alphas and hot hockey players. Seriously who doesn’t love hockey players and Sawyer knows how to make you fall in love with them. The two main characters heat up the page as well as the sheets. They are made for one another because Brooke is such a sweetheart and Bishop is all alpha male. It’s a great start to a new series and I cannot wait to read about the other players on the team.
Bishop meets Brooke at a bar and they both are f to each other and looking for some fun. When Bishop and Brooke get caught in a compromising position by his coach and her father they decide to tell him they are dating. How long can they fool everyone and what happens when feelings start to get involved? Add to that her crazy friend who comes to visit and starts a world of trouble do they have any chance of making this scam a reality?
Bishop is the first book in the Arizona Vengeance series. This is a spin-off to Sawyer’s Cold Fury series but you do not need to read that series to join in the fun. I have read a few of her series’ but not that one. I know, I know. I am hoping to get to it one day. For now, it’s all about this new team and the trouble and sexy times they get into. The synopsis tells a lot so I am going to make this fast. Just like Bishop on the ice.
Bishop and Brooke were for both looking for a little fun. One-night stand kind of fun. What they didn’t expect was the mind-blowing sex marathon that left them wanting more. Too bad they didn’t exchange numbers or even last names. Well, it turns out that a non issue when they see each other at the hockey arena. Where she works. It is also where her father works as Bishop’s Head Coach. The head coach who now thinks they are engaged.
Of course they want a repeat but an engagement? They are so fucked.
Bishop and Brooke’s relationship is complicated but it’s full of heat, wit, hockey, passion, and heart. I love them! They have to learn each other fast and hard. And they have that down, for sure. But seriously, I was hooked from the very beginning until the very end. There are twists. Turns. Up and downs.
Overall...it’s a kickass start to a new series! It made me laugh, get all kinds of hot and bothered, and felt the passion through the words. I can’t wait for the next book!
Quotes:
“This is fucking fate,” I mutter just before I kiss her.
“Stop talking, Brooke, or I’ll occupy that mouth with something that will make it impossible for you to say anything.”
I get a husky laugh and she leans in to nip my bottom lip.
“Tonight, baby, you’re playing sexy librarian and I’m playing the naughty thug hockey player that fucks her over the back of the desk, okay?”
Brooke’s face goes beet red, but she nods her agreement at me.
Not the coach's daughter ;) Sexy and fun about sums up Bishop & Brooke. They have a few struggles to get through, but mostly they just have to figure out what they are willing to sacrifice for the other and themselves.
Bishop wasn't your typical fake-relationship romance with a ton of drama and lies. Instead I found this book to be a pretty light read without the distraction of too much angst. Bishop and Brooke were a great couple and I really liked how they didn't fight the strong connection they had together. The chemistry was off the charts hot and made this book very intriguing.
The heat level was a lot higher than I though it would be but I am definitely not complaining about that fact. I loved seeing how crazy Bishop and Brooke were for each other and how that passion in the bedroom turned into something much deeper.
Overall, I think Bishop was a great start to this new series and I can't wait to see what else will come of it. There was a really good setup for the other characters that will be getting a book and I'm excited to read their own stories.
All the heat, and all the heart!
The opening scene shows Bishop and Brooke hooking up in the purest one-night-stand sense. The way the author describes their night together makes it clear there are no emotions involved. The next morning, however, when her dad - his new boss - catches them making plans for round two in her office, the Lie is born and the game is on.
As they start to spend more and more time together, emotions get messy and the line between Fake-it-so-Dad-doesn't-Freak and Hey-this-is-starting-to-feel-Real gets more than a little blurry. Throw in a vengeful fake friend, a far-too-insightful mother, a twist on dear old Dad's interests, and enough hockey player hookups to make any single woman want to move to Phoenix, and you've got yourself a smoldering hot romance that is exactly what we've come to expect from this author.
As the first book in a new series focusing on a new hockey team, we are also introduced to several of the other players, the team owner, and other characters who it's clear we will be seeing in future books. This one had a HFN, leaving me wanting just a bit more closure for this couple but hoping it'll be included as a side note in a future volume. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
This is the way to start a new series! Start off with a one-night stand, turn it into a fake engagement, and then watch it spark into a real relationship. Bishop and Brooke are absolutely precious together. Both are new to Phoenix and since they come from New York their "fake" engagement could be real. The more time they spend together, the more real it becomes until all bets are off. When the so called friend blows things up will they be able to withstand the fall out? This is well written and with great characters. Being this is a new series, we have a whole new set of players to get to know. This is going to be fun getting to know the team!
Definitely recommend this one!
**Received this ARC for review from the publisher via NetGalley**
If you have enjoyed Ms Bennett’s Cold Fury hockey series, then this series will be right up your alley.
Well written and entertaining, I was pulled into Bishop’s story right from the beginning and could see the good guy underneath the playboy.
All of the characters were interesting and engaging and I appreciated the fact that Bishop was given multiple chances to screw up. You’ll have to read the book to find out if he passed those tests or not!
One of the things I really liked about this book is the fact that Ms Bennett was able to tell us Bishop and Brooke’s story while also building the world that will be the Vengeance series. Both things were done very well, and the quality of the story stood out because of it.
These are two characters that I liked and enjoyed seeing their somewhat unlikely connection. I am looking forward to getting to know the guys on the team a little bit better.
