On the Channel Islands two women are resisting the Germans the only way they know how through their art. The book then takes a look back at how these two women met, fell in love, lived in Paris and later moved to the Channel Islands. The book is based on the lives of Marcel Moore and Claude Cahun and the author has done a lot of historical research. Sometimes the author tries to drop so many real life names that the reader can be overwhelmed. I really enjoyed the book after they moved to the Islands and left Paris behind. The book is well written and easy to read. The author does a very good job with the historical setting. Enjoy this Historical Biography
This is a decade’s long love story of Lucie and Suzanne who met in the years before WWI. It is based upon real life artists Claude Cahun and Suzanne Malherbe. There were times that I found this a little hard to read. It read more like a biography that had dialogue mixed in. I wanted to be immersed more into the characters’ lives. I felt like there were a few missing pieces. Otherwise it was a decent read and I’m looking forward to more books by Rupert Thomson’s.
i love Rupert Thomson and very much looking forward to reviewing this book. Unfortunately I am unable to read it in its current format. However thank you so much for the approval.
Unfortunately this format is inaccessible to me so I am unable to read the book. I am able to read on a Kindle only due to my disabilities. By making this available only to those who can download it onto a laptop and read it as a PDF, you are cutting out valuable readers/reviewers.
Unfortunately, under the format it was distributed via Netgalley, I was unable to open the file for this story on my laptop. So unfortunate! I'm going to place a neutral 3/5 stars in light of the situation. The premise is amazing and I'd still purchase the book based on that.
