I loved this book so much Emma has a way of pulling you in to the story so as you feel your in it with all the characters. Beautiful story I can't wait for another one.
I eagerly read this book, devouring word after word. It brought forth so many emotions- pain, angst, and lastly....hope. From the very beginning, these two characters were drawn to each other. They each recognize pain in one another as well as the potential to heal.
This story deals with some very heavy topics but Ms. Scott did an amazing job of showing her characters navigating them. This book is simply beautiful & incredible! I am in complete awe and speechless after finishing this story.
Really enjoyed this book.... It was tragically beautiful.... I loved the dynamic between Willow and Isaac. They were both scarred in their own ways and when they finally came together it was beautiful. Great book with some serious heavy topics! Would recommend to anyone!
In Harmony by Emma Scott is both tragic and beautiful. Sensitive topics are addressed in this book, so be aware.
First of all, I absolutely love this author's writing. She draws you in with her words and fills you with all the FEELINGS. Furthermore, even though I've never really been into theater, the way Emma Scott integrates theater, acting and Shakespeare into this story makes me wish I was.
Both Willow and Isaac are outstanding characters. They are scarred in their own way, yet each of them is strong and determined. Watching their journey unfold is truly rewarding.
Also, I want Angie's t-shirts.

I loved this book so much in the beginning but it fell short for me in the end. I gave this book four stars because I enjoyed the journey Willow went though in this book and the romance between Willow and Isaac. The time jumps felt a little weird and unnecessary to the story but in the end I guess it made sense.
However, this book was emotional and full of amazing character growth. I recommend this book to people who love a romance novel with characters who have a painful past and come together to heal.
This book is very beautifully written. It’s a shame i didn’t read it sooner. Two tragic figures finding peace from each other while having to face life is just so beautiful. I couldn’t stop reading, once I started. I had to know if, like Hamlet, this story was going to end with a tragic ending.
This is one of the only ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Books I have read this year. I definitely recommend it.
I. Loved. This. Book.
I thought I knew what I was getting in for, but I had no clue. I loved the characters, the pacing, the way Hamlet was woven into the book. I laughed, I cried, I swooned. I was really quite overwhelmed, but in the best way.
I’m fairly new to Emma Scott. I have so many of her works sampled on my kindle and for some reason I always put it off. More fool me! I am fast becoming a fan.
There is just something about her writing that is absolutely exceptional.
This story was no different. Willow and Issac were just amazing together and Issac is one of the most beautiful characters I’ve had the pleasure of reading in a while.
In harmony will break you and mend you, you have no choice but to fall in love with the characters and their story!
I wanted a bit more from the ending, but even so, I loved this book!
4 stars!

In Harmony
By: Emma Scott
📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚
Well let me start by saying I have become a huge fan of this author. She writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines that are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. So writing like Shakespeare was risky but it works in In Harmony. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.
Authors Blurb: The root of all madness is an unbearable truth…
At seventeen, Willow Holloway’s life was torn apart. The happy, driven girl is gone, and she is left wracked by post-traumatic stress her body remembers even if she does not. When her father suddenly uproots the family from their posh penthouse in New York City to the tiny town of Harmony, Indiana, Willow becomes more untethered and lost under the weight of her secret. On a whim, she auditions for a part in the community theater’s production of Hamlet and unexpectedly wins the role of Ophelia—the girl who is undone by madness, and her love of Hamlet…
Isaac Pierce is from the ‘wrong side of the tracks.’ The town bad boy. Girls pine for his attention and guys are in awe of him. That he’s an acting prodigy only adds to his charisma. Isaac utterly disappears into his characters; the stage is the only place he feels safe from his own traumatic home life. He wants nothing more than to escape to Broadway or Hollywood, and leave Harmony behind for good.
No one can play Hamlet but Isaac, and when the director pairs him with Willow in acting class, they clash again and again—neither willing to open their hearts to anyone. But clashing leads to breaking, breaking leads to the spilling of terrible secrets, and soon Isaac and Willow find Shakespeare’s words mirroring their lives. When they are cruelly torn apart, neither know how this play will end—with madness and heartache? Or healing, love, and the discovery of who they are truly meant to be.
I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.
This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.
Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕
Thank you to Netgalley for the ARC.
Emma is a gifted and talented author. With her words, she has the ability to reach deep into your soul and touch every fiber of your being. Her stories are always beautifully written, her characters are likable, and her gift to make her readers “feel” is absolutely astounding.
In Harmony is nothing short of perfection. Emotional, heartbreaking and most definitely worth reading. My heart hurt for Willow and Issac. Their heartache, pain, love and hurt was so real and raw. Their story needed voice, and there is no better person who could have told it, than Emma Scott.
All the side characters made the story that much more interesting and enjoyable. Angie, oh sweet dear Angie, everyone needs Angie in their lives.
5 fantastic brightly shining stars.
I have sinned! I forgot to review this book. I don’t know how I missed it! I was on an Emma Scott binge. I think I got a bit obsessed with my Pinboard and forgot my Goodreads and my kindle also completely broke.
Isaac Pierce will forever be Sean Mendes in my head. Strutting his stuff and being the best Hamlet or the best Romeo or the best Marc Anthony in my dreams. I loved. Loved. Loved him. He needed an escape from his everyday life and found his home on the stage.
Willow Holloway needs to find herself and take back the control that was taken from her. My heart hurt for her and then soared when her star began to rise.
As with all Emma’s books it was emotional, it was sweet and it was chock full of feels.
I had this book in my TBR list for quite a while and on a beautiful night by the campfire this was the perfect story to read. A 5 unique star story that captured my undivided attention from the first page read.
This story is about Willow who moves away to another state and she falls for the “bad” boy, Isaac. This story is mostly told and relived through screen plays. They pour their emotions into their roles. Now years later they get to live their real roles.
I’ve never read anything quite like this before. It was gut wrenching to read at times because both Willow and Isaac were living through the unimaginable . Wonderfully written with a storyline that flowed well. The characters were perfectly created for this story.
Standalone told in a dual POV with an HEA. I strongly recommend this story.
This was a great romance, set against the backdrop of Hamlet. The characters come from immensely different backgrounds but find that a shared love of drama, and difficult past experiences bring them together. Willow is trying to hide from the world as she recovers from a traumatic experience in New York. Isaac is trying to escape the only town and circumstances he has ever known through his tremendous talent. When the two meet, sparks fly but can they overcome the roadblocks in their way? A great story with a satisfying ending!
What a beautiful story! Makes you want to fight for the underdog. I liked the comparison between the classic and the new. I liked that they found each other and recognized their soulmate. Willow and Isaac are extremely talented and similar in the fact that they reach that raw talent by expressing their pain. They both come from different upbringings and to the eyes of others they have nothing in common, but they both have suffer in different ways and find in each other understanding without expectations. A kindred heart. The idea of them both using theater and a script to tell their own stories is beautiful. Willow shows Isaac to look at his surroundings in a different way, appreciating the good as he had before everything started to fall apart. He becomes her protector and her champion. It's a shame there is so much time wasted feeling miserable and apart when they are just a force to be reckon with together. But the road to get there to each other is as important as the road they take to feel free on their own. The one that allows them to grow.
It's been a while since I've read a book by Emma Scott. I have to admit that I had to wait until I was ready to pick up a book that I knew would be emotionally taxing. Emma Scott's books always hit me hard. She makes me feel so much, and I knew that In Harmony was going to be one of those books that would bring tears to my eyes. It totally did.
In Harmony is a story about two broken young adults. Willow is not herself. She hasn't been since her world was changed over a year ago. Willow hopes that moving to Harmony, Indiana will make things easier. Maybe she can get back to the girl she was before. Isaac is the town's bad boy. He doesn't mind the title. It keeps people from bothering him while he's working on getting out-of-town. His one chance to leave his horrible existence behind is his acting. When Willow and Isaac are cast in a play together, they find a comfort in each other and a chance to heal.
This book was so beautiful. I can't really even come up with the words to explain it. Willow and Isaac had been through some horrid things. I hated that they had been through so much. It made my heart hurt. I loved the comfort and trust they found in each other, and how meeting each other changed their lives for the better. It was just such an incredibly important story.
I know this review is short, but I'm so overwhelmed with the feelings this book gave me. In Harmony was truly a special book. I highly recommend reading it.
I was completely blown away by this book. I had never read Emma Scott before, so I had no idea what to expect. But I've been pretty down lately and was looking for something to bring me out of my funk and this seemed like a good one to try. I'm so glad I did, because even with the heavy subject matter, I was so drawn and invested in these characters.
Long review below, because this book deserves it.
I searched book after book of Celtic legend and lore, but I couldn't find the tale of Little Light. Instead, the dark found me. Two weeks after my seventeenth birthday.
Meet one of our main protagonists, Willow. I adored Willow. Here was this girl, who had something absolutely terrible happen to her and was doing her best to deal with it, especially with fairly absent parents who refuse to acknowledge how seriously their daughter is in turmoil. In the middle of her senior year, her father is moved from NYC to a small town outside of Indianapolis and Willow is the new girl at school. (Side note: Hooray to a small Indiana town not being painted in totally terrible light!) Even in a new location, Willow struggles to understand and deal with the trauma of her ordeal from the year prior.
I tried not to let myself think of him. He didn't even have a name in my reckoning. He didn't deserve one. Names are for humans.
On day one in her new school in Harmony, Willow meets two very important characters in this story: Angie, an amazing side character, and other other damaged protagonist, Isaac. I loved Angie. She was quirky but unabashedly herself. She goes out of her way to help Willow, even when Willow does not always return the favor. Their friendship was lovely and I really enjoyed when they were on the pages together.
And Isaac. Dark, dreamy, damaged Isaac. Isaac, who is a phenomenal actor and lives in a broken down trailer with his alcoholic father. Isaac who is determined to use his talents to get out Harmony and help those who he cares about.
After a brief but memorable meeting at the school, Willow decides to audition for the local production of Hamlet, which Isaac will star in. I really liked the author's emphasis on using art as a way of healing for both Willow and Isaac.
I didn't care whether I got the part or not. All that mattered was that for the first time, I'd told the truth. Cloaked in other words, but still my truth.
Willow ends up getting the part of Ophelia, opposite of Isaac as Hamlet, and that's really where their interaction begins. And I was here for it.
He shoved his shoulder against mine playfully, not looking at me, but his Oedipus curtain call smile slipped out, and it put a crack straight across my block of ice.
If you're looking for a slow-burn YA contemp romance, you have come to the right place. Because there is a lot both Isaac and Willow have to deal with in their personal lives, as well as their feelings for each other. I really appreciated nothing being rushed and the small moments and interactions as they got to know one another. It honestly felt so real and natural, which is exactly what I love.
Take this interaction for example:
I swallowed hard. "It doesn't matter." "Matters to me," he said, his voice gruff. "It fucking matters to me Willow."
And this one:
"You're not dead," I said, crouching down. "You're not dead, Willow." I won't let you die. "Not all of me," she said, sleepily. "But a part of me is dead and gone. And I'll never get it back." And that hit me in the heart a thousand times harder than her screaming rage at the sky.
The scene in the graveyard killed me. It was so good. Definitely one my favorites in this book, and there were a handful I could have picked from as a favorite.
If you're looking for a book that will make you want to laugh, smile, cry, be heartbroken and then whole again, look no further. There were a lot of important themes to this book and some heavy topics, but I thought they were handled in a good way. Just FYI, TW for: rape, PTSD, physical abuse, verbal abuse, use of slurs (though it is acknowledged it is wrong) and underage drinking. It's also definitely a mature YA novel, so just be aware.
Overall, I loved this book and I loved these characters. Any little issues I had are completely overwhelmed by everything else. This book was wonderful and if you are even slightly thinking you might be interested in it, you should absolutely do so.
I liked this book a lot. Actually, that made me a bit sad when I realised that. I was sad because I can't even say why it didn't swipe me off my feet, why I simply liked it. But then again, sometimes books don't need to be exceptional to make you feel good. They simply feel good. I love Emma Scott's writing, so even if one of her books doesn't touch my heart as others do, they still feel good. So, maybe no reason to feel sad after all!
Absolutely Breath-taking!
Willow is uprooted to Harmony, Indiana and thinks that maybe change would be good. What she didn’t expect was Isaac. She heard the rumors but the night she saw him perform in Oedipus her life would never again be the same and neither would his. Harmony spent her nights on the floor of her bedroom drawing an X on her arms while Isaac chose to simply not talk in depth to anyone - but maybe these two (with the nudging of Marty) can help each other heal from the pain in their lives. Performing Hamlet together was the theme of this book and with every love story - there is also a tragedy and this story was no exception. Emma Scotts writing was beautiful and riveting and kept me glued to my kindle all afternoon. Even after the perfect epilogue - I’m yearning for more of their story. To hear more of the words spoken between this couple. I have been a fan of Scott’s for a long time now, but will buy every one of her new books on release date from this point forward.
I was gifted a copy of this story from Trillian through NetGalley for an honest review.
This book is intense. I was in tears and just shy of trembling. The raw emotion and unfiltered feelings that erupt from the characters are palpable and tangible as if you could hold them in your hand. It's an ache, a longing, and a love that 'never doubt'.
In Harmony is not your typical story of boy meets girl. It's not even the dream fairytale. It's a realistic portrayal of life at its highs and lows. in Harmony is it's own beautiful tragedy rewritten by actors in need of more...Doesn't make sense?! Okay, how about this:
In Harmony is it's own version of Romeo and Juliet rewritten for all those poor souls who need more than just a hopeless ending. It's a cathartic release and a badge of courage. In Harmony is what you make of it.
4.5 STARS!!!
In Harmony is not my first Emma Scott book. I had no doubt that I would enjoy this story, I just had no idea how much I would. It was an absolutely enjoyable read. It was so different from other book I've read. I enjoyed Willow, Angie, Benny, Martin and Brenda but I absolutely loved Isaac. Isaac was handsome, sweet, caring, protective and had a heart of gold even with everything going against him and weighing him down. He was determined to succeed and not just for him but for others. Willow had strength, she just had to get to that right place; mind, body and soul. There are a lot of things I liked about this story and things I disliked; Xavier, Isaac's dad and Willow parents. With that being said, this was such a great romance story with a happy ending that I look forward to reading any book from this author in the future. I only wish was that there was an extended epilogue or something to show us the family as a whole after the surprises. Would I recommend this book? Absolutely!
