It's a type of story that I have seen many times; animal goes on an adventure but then longs for home. The story just felt bland to me.
I received a free ARC from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
Loved the illustrations in this book. A story about a traveling cow. Daisy learns a lot about herself on the way.
The story is okay but nothing to write home about. The cow had to go through too much in order to please the farmer. An animal being pushed to its limits. Not entertaining.
This is the story of Daisy, a normal cow, living a normal life with her owner, Farmer Brown. After work, Farmer Brown would relax and watch television. Daisy would peek through the window and watch television too. She began to see that life could offer more adventure than what she was experiencing at home. One day, she noticed that the gate was left open and she wandered to town where she found her way up on top of a roof. The townspeople called Farmer Brown to let him know of her predicament. They used a Fireman's net to rescue her. Daisy’s rescue was captured on video and made the local news. A producer saw her and offered to purchase her from Farmer Brown. Farmer Brown said no. So the producer offered to rent her. And that is how she became a movie star. You’ll have to read the story to find out what happens next.
The illustrations in this book had a sort of throwback feel to them. There was something nostalgic about them. And the scenery felt like a European village or countryside.
There were some unusual twists and turns in this story, but the overall message: there’s no place like home, is a fairly common idea. Still, it’s a good book that you may enjoy reading with your children or students.

Thank you #netgalley for giving me a copy of #Daisy to review. The illustrations are gorgeous. I love that this is a flip book where you get to see one part of the page and then flip part and see something else going on beneath. The story of Daisy's adventure into stardom was cute. This is a book I would get for my kids more than a book I would get for my classroom.
A re-edition of a classic from 1984, this book is about a cow named Daisy who grows tired of her farm and wants to see the world. The colors of the illustrations were absolutely stunning, but I didn't like all that Daisy had to go through to please the producer/farmer and film movies. The writing didn't age well.
Daisy the cow lives on a farm with Farmer Brown. At night Farmer Brown watches tv and Daisy does to through the window. Farmer Brown longs for a tractor to make his work better and Daisy longs to see the world beyond the farm. One day the gate is left open and Daisy winds up on a roof being filmed by a tv crew. Farmer Brown comes and saves her from the roof but the tv crew wants to rent Daisy for movies. The story goes on from there and this is a good book about being happy where you are and there is no place like home. The illustrations are pleasant and will hold a child's interest. This is a great bedtime story and I recommend it for 2-7 yr olds.

Great lesson on finding satisfaction in your life. Beautiful illustrations! Awesome for the smaller non-reader to play “can you find...? on the pages!
I had a great time reading Daisy. This cow had big dreams, and it was a joy to watch them all come true. She got to not only see the world, but become a big star along the way. In the end though, she had to make a tough choice. I can see many kids having a lot of fun joining her on her adventure and they will love all the impressive illustrations.
Daisy wants to experience more of the world that she has seen on TV. One day when she has a mishap and ends up on the TV herself, she finds an opportunity to experience more than she ever expected.
I really enjoyed the inner flip book style this book had. Each illustration has a small flap that reveals more illustration and dialogue with the same background illustration. The story was just okay, but would probably be entertaining for younger kids.
When Daisy the cow watches television through Farmer Brown's window, she sees wonderful places she wants to visit. So as soon as Farmer brown leaves the gate to her field open (how she had been able to watch television if her gate had previously been closed is a mystery to me), she's off to explore. One thing leads to another and before she knows it she's a Hollywood star! But can fame and fortune really make a simple cow happy?
The simple illustrations are relatively flat, but nevertheless effective with their soft pastel colours.
I personally would have liked to see more to the story, for example Daisy really travelling around the world, rather than just to Hollywood. And the character of Farmer Brown is lifeless and doesn't contribute much to the story. Nevertheless, children will be amused by scenes such as Daisy standing in a bubble bath for an advertisement, while adults will relate to the underlying theme of wanting more than you really need.
This is an interesting story about a cow and his farmer, and how they want just a little bit more out of life than they have now. Daisy, the cow, ends up a movie star, but soon realizes that there are some nice things back home as well. I enjoyed this book, but to be honest, I doubt it would be something i would read a second time.
A sweet story about an adventurous little cow. The illustrations were interesting, soft but still colorful. This book would be great for early elementary school aged children.
This is a cute story that is basically a "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence" story. Daisy is a cow who wants to see the world. This is caused by her watching television through the window of Farmer Brown's house. When she gets her wish by becoming a Hollywood star, she realized it is not everything she dreamed about and wants to go back home to her field. This is an open the flap book which is well done. The illustrations are wonderful and you could spend a lot of time just looking at all the thinks on the pages. My grandson enjoyed the story, but was a bit young to understand the message. A great book for a primary/junior classroom or school library. Because of the detailed illustrations, a large group read would be difficult to get the most out of this book.
A beautiful book! The illustrations are absolutely stunning. The story of a cow who wants to see the world, but then ends up happy to be home. A pleasure to read for both parent and child.
Daisy is a sweet little picture book written and illustrated by Brian Wildsmith. The story is about a cow with wanderlust who escapes the humdrum farm for the glitz of Hollywood only to discover she misses the farm after all.
It's the illustrations here that really shine; they're enchanting with lots of detail in many of the scenes -- perfect for little readers who like to make up their own backstories for the goings on in the background. A pleasant little read that is just the right length.
