I really enjoyed the first book in this series and was thrilled to read the second one. Fiona Knox inherited a home and magical garden, Duncreigan, from her god father and moved from Tennessee to live in the village of Bellewick in Scotland.
While most in the village have welcomed her, the local minister has never liked her, her godfather or Duncreigan. When the minister is found murdered, Fiona feels she must find the killer in order to save herself from being a murder suspect, yet again.
Along the way Fiona will discover more about some of the locals, her family and herself. This cozy series should be on the top of your “To Read” list if it’s not already on there.
I love this author so when I saw it as a read now I jumped on the chance so glad I did!
This is a nice, light cozy mystery set in a small Scottish village. The main character is a transplant from Tennessee who is adjusting to her new home, new business, new romance and all that comes with them.
While this is part of the Magic Garden series, the hint of magic was not so intense to rise to level of supernatural but was enough to keep it interesting. Even Uncle Ian’s return is done well. Lots of great character development, a little romance, a little whimsy and a touch of humor sprinkled throughout makes this a great read. The plot has a nice build to it; characters and clues are introduced throughout but not so transparent as to give away the ending.
Although it is 2nd in the series, it works as a standalone read.
Death and Daisies is the second installment t in Amanda Flower's latest series. I love the flower shop setting and the characters are delightful. The settng is magicaland the mystery itself is satisfying. loved everything about this book. I was gifted am arc of this book Crooked Lane Publishing. through netgalley. The review is solely my opinion
DEATH AND DAISES by Amanda Flower
This takes place in Scotland and one thinks of magic, and elves. For Fiona, it’s now home, and the little cottage, and soon her flower shop.
Till mishap happens, and the parish minister who was vocal in wanting her to leave, is dead. With interest in the Chief Inspector Craig, she helps with the investigation. Her books are rich in description of the places, and people, giving us the feeling we are there. Always an enjoyable read, and look for more by her. A series, can be read separately. Given ARC by Net.Galley and Crooked Lane Books for my voluntary review and my honest opinion.
Death and Daisies is the second enchanting installment in Amanda Flower's A Magic Garden Mystery series. This time around we find Fiona opening her flower shop while also investigating the murder of the local minister..
Our favorite Detective Inspector Craig is back and is trying his best to keep Fi safe, which is difficult with her investigations running parallel to his. We also meet Fi's sister, Isla, who has just graduated from college and has come to Scotland to stay before she has to head back to real life. So Fiona's life is a little chaotic and dangerous. I just love the characters and setting. Such a great read!
This second story in the Magic Garden Mystery series starts with an exciting new challenge in Fiona's life...opening her new flower shop in the small Scottish village that she now calls home. But does the impending thunderstorm also pose an omen of things to come. With a dead body found on the battered beach the next day, Fiona must once again help with the investigation, proving that she did not kill the deceased, the one person in the village who seemed determined to make her leave her beloved Duncreigan. But her life has also become complicated with her visiting sister, Isla, a mysterious reappearance of Hamish's great-nephew Seth MacGregor, and her own complicated relationship with Chief Inspector Neil Craig. This series is enjoyable, with a cozy mystery, several suspects and clues that ultimately lead to the final uncovering of the murderer. The main characters of this series are becoming more real with each new story, and I love the relationship Fiona is building with several of the village regulars. The images of the magic garden are enchanting, as are the visits from the fox and Duncan, the squirrel. And of course, Ivanhoe, the Scottish Fold is adorable. I can't wait for the next story to see what happens next with Fiona, Craig and Isla. Disclosure: I am voluntarily reviewing this advanced reading copy from NetGalley.
I love the kind of books that you can read quickly and be totally entertained. This one offers, romance, murder, mystery, magic, and a tea shop in a seaside village in Scotland. Fiona and her sister are getting settled in their cottage and also setting up Fi's flower shop. Unfortunately, that local minister is not a fan of Fi's family and does not welcome her. The villagers are upset by the minister's behavior and next thing you know, someone winds up dead. Thanks to the handsome chief inspector and Fiona's "help" the murderer is discovered. I will definitely read the first book in the series and stick with the rest.
Thanks to NetGalley, Amanda Flower and Crooked Lane Books for a free electronic ARC of this book.
Fiona Knox is trying to get her flower shop up and running, but it is hard to do when a murder has occurred and once again Fiona is a suspect. It doesn't take long in the small village for the news to get out. Fiona is determined to clear her name. Will her magic garden be able to help her or will the visions that it reveal to her come true?
Not only does Fiona have a murder to solve, but she also has a sister who needs taking care of, a new shop to run, an attraction for the Chief Inspector to explore, and other small-town endeavors to be a part of.
As with any of this author's books I thoroughly enjoyed the characters, the mystery, and the animals that have personalities of their own. Death and Daisies caused me to chuckle, gasp and turn the pages faster in order to find out how it all turns out. I'm becoming quite a fan of cozy mysteries and definitely recommend the Magic Garden series(Death and Daisies is book 2)
I got this as an ARC in exchange for a review.
This is the second in a new series but the book stands alone so if you haven't read the first book, you still know what is going on since the author references prior events a few times.
Fiona, the main character, moves to Scotland and sets up a flower shop. This book focuses on her opening her business. There is very little in-depth character development and there are quite a few secondary characters that seem to pop up for no reason. The book seems to follow the standard cozy mystery formula with a few surprises thrown in for the readers.
This is a enchanting book. I loved the people and the location. I can't wait to learn more about the garden and
"Uncle" Ian. #DeathAndDaisies #NetGalley
Death and Daisies by Amanda Flowers is the second book in the Magic Garden cozy mysteries that is set in a small village in Scotland. Fiona Knox has inherited her godfather;s cottage with a magical walled garden. After moving from Tennessee to Scotland, she is preparing for the opening of her village florist shop. Her younger sister Isla arrives unexpectedly to live with her. Then on the opening day of her shop, the parish minister is found murdered on the nearby beach. Fiona is considered a suspect in the murder since Minister MacCullen has been very vocal about wanting Fiona to leave the village and Scotland.
Will Fiona be able to clear her name with the help of handsome Chief Inspector Neil Craig? Is romance in their future? Why is Isla acting so strangely? What additional magic will be revealed in the secret garden? This book has murder, mystery, romance and magic. The magic is a subtle theme that doesn’t overpower the mystery plot. Death and Daisies is another winning cozy for Amanda Flowers.
I received an advanced reader’s copy from Net Galley in return for an honest review.

This is the second book in the Magic Garden series and I have thoroughly enjoyed both of them. I quickly got caught up with Fiona as she once again is involved with a murder. The romantic interest, in the form of the Chief Inspector, was just starting to develop towards the end of the book and I am looking forward to the next one in the hopes of maybe a little more interaction between them. I received an e-book from NetGalley in return for an unbiased review.
I was totally enthralled with this book. I didn't come up for air until I finished it. It was magical! I loved the setting, and the storyline. The characters were so quirky and interesting and the book was well written. All Fiona wants to do is have a successful flower shop and a successful opening. But, the minister doesn't want that to happen. And when he ends up dead, what happens to all Fiona's hard work? This book is enchanting I highly recommend it.
This is a delightful cozy mystery from my new favorite author, Amanda Flower. Despite this being the second book in the Magic Garden Mysteries series, I had no problem jumping right in and getting to know the characters. Fiona Knox, a native Tennessean has inherited a cottage and magic garden in Scotland from her godfather, Ian. Fiona has relocated to Duncreigan, Scotland and is opening her floral shop, The Climbing Rose Floral Shop.
Immediately Fiona is aware that the local pastor does not like her or Duncregian and warns the parishoners to stay away from Fiona. Pastor Quaid MacCullen even comes to the shop the night before her grand opening to warn her away from Duncregian and offers a mysterious threat. Later, when Pastor Quaid MacCullen is murdered the next morning, of course Fiona is caught up in solving the mystery. Along the way, a budding romance between Chief Inspector Craig thickens the plot, and Fiona's sister Isla has come for a visit of undetermined length.
The story was a good, quick read and I really enjoyed this book. I would recommend to anyone who loves a good cozy mystery, especially set in Scotland.
I received this ARC for an honest review.
I have never heard of Amanda Flower or this series and figured I would give it a try. The first few chapters felt a bit long and at times I found myself second guessing my decision on reading this book. However, as the story continued to develop I became more intrigued with Fiona and the storyline. I am happy that I gave this book a try. I really enjoyed reading it and being introduced to a new character and series. Amanda Flowers is an amazing writer and knows how to captivate her audience at the right time. I loved how Amanda left you guessing up until the very end. I hope there will be another book added to this series. I would love to find out more about the big secret that is revealed as well as what else Fiona gets mixed up in.
I really like the Living Museum mystery series by this author and while her other books are ok, they have yet to strike the same chord with me. I did not read the first book in this series, but had no problem picking up with the situation here. The whole mystical garden aspect, while mentioned several times, was minimally used here. A secret is revealed that I totally saw coming.
The mystery has to who killed and minister was fine, but I found there was just as much focus on other people/village events.
Good enough to finish, but I don't have an overwhelming desire to go back and read the first book or look forward to a third so just an OK rating.
I received my copy from Netgalley in exchange for my honest review.
This cozy mystery checked all the boxes for me. It instantly grabbed my interest from the first page, has well-developed characters, is set in a quaint, small town and the writing was flawless. Even though this is the 2nd in the series, the author maintained the delicate balance of reintroducing enough from the first mystery without giving away too much for those of us who haven't read the first book.
The main character, Fiona Knox, inherited a magical garden in Scotland from her Godfather. She is disliked by the local minister for her connection to the garden but she doesn't know why. As Fiona learns more about the garden and settles into life in Scotland, a murder happens. Fiona can't resist the urge to get involved even if it means putting her own life at risk. A quick read with plenty of suspects that had me guessing to the very end.
This is a cute little cozy with relatable characters, a charming setting, and a bit of magic thrown in for good measure. The plot was pretty good and the mystery solid. Being the second in the series, I'd recommend reading the first book before this one, but it's not absolutely necessary. I'd recommend this one to anyone who enjoys cozy mysteries.
This is the second in the series. Some magic, some murder, some crazy characters, and some romance on the side. I feel this one was even better than the first one. I had trouble putting it down. Love Amanda Flower mysteries. If I could give it a 10 I would
