"Worth Fighting For" by Susannah Turner is a heartwarming romance that introduces readers to the charming Charlotte Ahearn, a brilliant baker with an infectious personality. In her new home of Dunbarton, she faces the challenge of convincing the town to support the local silver mine expansion. However, a certain farmer named Nick MacLeod makes her task complicated and personal. As the story unfolds, secrets of their past meeting emerge, revealing a potential for something special and perfect. Turner's novel beautifully explores themes of community, baking, and love in unexpected places, making it a delightful read for those who appreciate romance with a dash of warmth and genuine emotion.
this is was an okay book. Set in the Austrailian outback. It book dragged in certain areas. It really needed an editor to make it not quite so boring. It was back and forth too much. Will they wont they.
This book had me from the first page. I could not put it down! Such a wonderful story! I highly recommend this one to all!
The Bottom Line: I enjoyed the ever-loving crap out of this book! Charlie is so easy to like and to root for, her sister Georgie is pure sunshine and delight, Nick is sexy and brooding, and the overall plot is just interesting. Though this isn’t a pure past meets present read, there are elements of the trope which has long been one of my favorites. I also very much like the opposite sides of an issue approach to friendship and romance which is a prevalent theme in this book. In truth, the read is just one problem/complication/obstacle after another, but that’s what makes it so good. With every new issue, there is a chance for growth and change in the characters and you know how I love my characters to evolve! Not every situation and/or reaction to the situation works out perfectly, but that’s life and these characters and their struggles are clearly based on real life. The only thing I found lacking in this book, is an epilogue. If ever there was a story that needs a good what happened to them in the future epilogue, Worth Fighting For is it. I am sincerely hoping the lack of an epilogue means this isn’t the end for Charlie and Nick but may be just the beginning of an ongoing series. There are plenty of other characters populating this book that could stand to have their story told in their own book 😊
Worth Fighting for is a very good read. Nick and Charlie, one who is a strong advocate of country living and other strong advocate of city living.comes together for a cause and realizes what life has in store for them
Susannah Turner’s book, Worth Fighting For, is at heart a story of corporate greed versus community values. Interwoven with this are a complicated romance and a story of family dynamics. It was a slow read for me, but I persisted because I wanted to know how it ended. I’m not one to finish books if I’m not invested in the story, and this is an interesting story. I did, feel frustrated reading it because the multiple plot lines and subplots seemed contrived. It isn’t a book that I would recommend to others, but the author hooked me with the story. I will be watching for new work by Ms. Turner as she hones her style.
I really enjoyed this book. I happened upon this author who is new to me, but the book description sounded great and I was not disappointed. I liked how Nick and Charlie had an instant connected from years earlier but neither of them knew it when they met again. The story isn’t new...man and woman have chemistry, they shouldn’t like each other, and circumstances keep bringing them together. But this take on the story was unique and was really well written. My only critique is that it did run a bit long for the story line, and I felt the end was a little drawn out for the last few chapters.
Worth Fighting For was a good summer read, sweet, light hearted but it also tells a real problem, the drought that affect most of the little farm in Australia.
Charlotte and Nick journey has a rocky start. They have conflicting opinions about the expansion of Dunbarton's silver mine, the first represents the corporation and the latter the local farmers.Their chemistry and sexual tension will be enough to overcome their problems?
Susannah Turner words took me right in the middle of the bush beside the characters she perfectly depicted and characterized.
I love to read novels set up in Australia because it is a beautiful and fascinating country for an italian girl like me.
I will definitely follow this new author's career from now on.
Thanks to NetGalley and Susannah Turner for allowing me to read and review Worth Fighting For. This book was sweet and fun and I'd love to read another book by Turner :)
An engaging story. The characters are so real and the story is great. I would definitely recommend this book to everyone. Enjoyed every minute from start to finish.
Good, fun romance between two people on opposite sides of an issue in Australia. The Characters were likable and the story was a good, quick read. I received a copy from NetGalley and the publisher and this is my honest opinion.

This book is the story of two people on opposite sides of a political "battle" trying to come together. The story is fairly formulaic and somewhat predictable, with he said vs she said and misinterpretations of actions from lack of communication. On the other hand, the main characters were well developed and very likeable. If you are looking for a relaxing, fun, and sexy beach read, I would highly recommend picking this up.
I adored this story of Charlotte and Nick and that Charlotte is a Barefoot Baker . That added a lot to the story as it is always good to read about food. They met at a wedding 10 years ago where he was the photographer. They had dreamed about each other ever since but never ran into each as they lived too far apart and photography is only part of what Nick does. The PR company, Charlotte works for, wants to promote mining in a small town in the country. It looks good on paper, but not so much in real life. Charlotte and Nick meet again during a protest against the mine but didn't recognize each other right away. Nick is a farmer against the mine. The chemistry and attraction are there for everyone to see, but Charlotte doesn't want to live in the country ever again. Her past issues affect the way she feels about everything and then there is Miles. You have to read to find out who he is. I received this book from Net Galley for an honest review and no compensation otherwise,
Five delicious stars
What can I say about this book ? It's a slow burned romance set in Austrailia . It's my first book where the story is set up in Austrailia .
Charlotte Ahearn is smart , caring , sweet and a passionate Baker by heart and have I mentioned she loves reading ? specially Jane Eyre . She is offered a job at countryside and far from where she lives in her beach house in Sydney . There she meet Nick Macleod , a handsome cowboy :D but neither of them know that they have met before at a wedding 10 years ago .
Charlotte loves to cook and read to forget about the problems in her life . Apart from the main character I liked Georgie and Rocco and their Culpo di fuline moment at the Scottish Ball . But what bothers me is that Nick tried too much for Charlotte , she kept running away from him .
"One of the great things about reading , Charlotte reflected , is that it can take you away from whatever disaster your life is heading towards " - Charlotte
There are many funny moments in the book and I enjoyed every page of the book . I'd love to read more books from Susannah Turner .
I liked the premise of this story about a city girl who goes to the country to do her job. But nothing is as it seems, she has secrets and emotional baggage from childhood that has Charlie adamant not to fall for a country boy. The company Constone, a mining company isn't all that it seems either, though that came as no surprise, what mining company is. Dealing with environmental issues, farming hardships and small town community, as well as a chemistry between opposing sides of this farming towns fight against a corporation, this was an entertaining read from an Aussie newcomer.
Thanks to NetGalley and XO Romance for a copy in return for an honest review.
I simply loved this story about a chance encounter that ten years later has a chance to blossom into the relationship that should have happened. There are so many glitches along the way that a happy ever after is never really assured.
The gaze of the wedding photographer into Charlotte’s eyes was enough to cause a chemical reaction in her body. But a phone call tears him away and she is left to dream of him over ten years. Little does she know that the gaze had the same effect on Nick.
Taking a new job sends her traveling to a small farming town to find she is on the opposite side of the fence in a town divided. It seems that Charlotte and Nick will never have a chance at a forever-only at a for never.
A good story. It's well written and with well developed characters.
Many thanks to XO Romance and Netgalley for this ARC
