The SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team is back with book number 8, Wolf Rising continues the story with Werewolf Officer Jayden Brooks and his love interest Selena Rosa a high school teacher. Selena is on the verge of flipping into werewolf mode she's not only transforming into a werewolf, she's well on her way to becoming an Omega. The most uncontrollable and dangerous breed.
I really enjoyed reading Wolf Rising! Selena was an awesome and hilarious character. I would recommend Wolf Rising and the entire series.

Finally, a book that surpasses the 3 stars mark without me having to round up! The last couple of installments have been 2.5 stars rounded up merely because the world kept on building and the villains kept on coming while the romance always fell flat for me. This time around everything fell into place nicely and worked seamlessly.
I enjoyed this story from start to finish!
I loved, loved Selena. She was fierce, stubborn and funny as hell. Her change was brought about due to a situation that took place in this installment, which made her situation different than what we've come to expect. All this and the fact that Selena was Brooks' THE ONE had me tap, tap, taping to get to the next page.
Of course, I've been reading about Jayden Brooks from the very first book, so having him find his THE ONE and having her going through the change and all that entailed, made for some very interesting encounters. Some were definitely funny, while others were surprising. But the sexy ones were awesome! Jeez, the chemistry between these two was sizzling hot. I loved that this time around the sex scenes didn't feel repetitive and that Selena and Jayden's connection made it to the page. It wasn't simply that they were fated to be together. They actually worked to be together. I loved it!
Another element that I loved was the continued world building that was taking place. We finally find out who the new villain is while we encounter the hunters head-on. Which I bet is gonna keep expanding into something more if the way it was left is anything to go by. In addition to this, the readers gain a little insight into what might be coming up next for the SWAT pack. I can't wait!
All in all, an action-packed romance between a fiery, newly transition wolf and the alpha male that has no chance to tame her but will protect her with his life.

i always looking forward to Brooks story. Selena and Brooks were a fun couple. it was filled with great adventure and plot twist. some good steamy sex scenes and loads of humor.
loving this series.

He saved her life and knew in that moment she was someone he couldn’t forget. In that single moment, everything slowly changed and he finally came to realize that his mate was right beside him.

Another SWAT member bites the dust as his One steal his heart and brings him in line! We have watched seven of Jayden’s fellow officers find their One in previous novels and now his has come into his lie in the most surprising and dangerous way he could have imagined—accompanied by a bullet and with the threat of her own death still looming. Ms. Tyler has set up a very interesting premise with this series, one that I haven’t encountered even with all of the other paranormal series I read, but one that I keep thinking will become stagnant quickly. Luckily her skills as an author keep coming forward and reminding me why I’m such as a fan as she finds new and interesting ways to introduce couples and bring forward the she-wolves that will steal her men’s hearts. Jayden arrives at a hostage situation just in time to save the life of Selena Rosa, a teacher that has put herself directly into the path of the gangs in Dallas in order to protect and lift up her students, never imagining that she would change his world forever. But the more he thinks about her and is around her the more he wants her and as he spends more time with her he comes to wonder if she might just be the One for him. The problem is Selena has no clue she is becoming a werewolf as a result of her ordeal and it is now his responsibility to bring her fully into his world in order to have chance with her. Selena is intrigued with the big and sexy alpha man who saves her life from the beginning, but the more time she spend with him and gets to know him the more passionately she wants him. But soon her life starts to unravel around her and there is no denying the two events are connected. I loved getting to know more about Jayden, seeing him floundering to find a way to make the woman of his dream trust and love him, even as he fought his passionate need to take her for himself. Being an alpha wolf can be hell sometimes when a woman needs a little sensitivity. It was beyond interesting to see the normally mild mannered Selena dealing with the way her intense sensuality was heightened by her burgeoning wolfiness and dealing with that passion as she embraced her feelings for Jayden. I will say that the two of them definitely had some seriously combustible chemistry despite the heightened emotional issues they were dealing with and seeing them working through everything together and individually made the strong super interesting. I am wondering who will fall to love next and of course the overall story arc has heated up intensely and I am looking forward to seeing where that takes us in the coming stories. Paige Tyler always manages to weave and amazing love story into a long-running storyline with a magical ease that makes me just that little bit jealous but thrilled as a reader at the same time. Keep up the magic Paige!

I love the heck out of Paige Tyler's SWAT series! The characters are dynamic, the plots are exciting and the heroines are strong and fierce! However, each book for me is either a hit or a miss and this one just didn't quite hit the mark for me. I loved Brooks in previous books. He's a strong, sexy wolf that's fiercely loyal. I was not a big fan of Selena. Her story is unique and exciting but I didn't think there was good chemistry between them. The story was great, just not the match.

3.75 Hearts This has a little bit of everything… Is there a genre for Suspenseful Shapeshifting Romance? Well there is now.
Selena is going through the shift change and Jayden has his heart flip. Jayden is perfect alpha with a capital A. He has everything a new wolf would want in a mate but Selena is going through enough already… Can she really let her heart fall for such an alpha wolf?
Well worth the read if you enjoy the genre. It has everything and a bit more.
Disclaimer:
I received a complimentary copy of the book in exchange for an honest review.

The werewolf SWAT team was a great mix of personalities and abilities, and Selena was the perfect match for her man... er wolf. Great, fast-paced paranormal romance.

I love the “Wolf” stories created by Paige Tyler. Wolf Rising starts with thrills, as they all do. There is a lot of action in the story, helping to maintain those thrills. While this isn’t one of the top three in the series, it’s still good. I don’t quite buy a traumatic event turning someone into a werewolf, and her transition into one seemed awfully easy.
There is a cat who appears throughout the story who has my interest. I am hoping that this is a shifter, and the focus of the next book. This could be fun!

This is a great book with a wonderful story and well developed characters. The story flowed very well and was very enjoyable. This book will keep you reading long into the night and you will not want to put this book down until you finish. This was such a great read and full of surprises. I am looking forward to reading other books by this great author.

Hooked from the very beginning, the story behind Jayden Brooks and Selena Rosa catches attention and keeps you guessing through out the entire book. The twists and turns, mystery and romance are so well blended I couldnt put it down. I was given an arc of this book from Netgalley. But I bought it as well.
Highly recommend this book from Paige Tyler.

I received an advanced reader copy of this book to leave an honest review. I have read every single book in the SWAT series and have enjoyed them all. Paige does an excellent job of having a suspenseful plot and still delving into the relationships between the main characters.
This books follows Jayden Brooks, a former linebacker turned cop, and Selena, a teacher at an inner city school rife with gangs. Jayden is a part of SWAT and became a werewolf while being attacked as a cop; he then joined the SWAT pack and Dallas. Jayden meets Selena when he responds to a call at the local school of a hostage situation. Selena is trying to protect her students from a gang member who is trying to recruit her kids. This traumatic experience ends of triggering her own werewolf gene but her transition ends up occurring in about three days instead of three weeks. She doesn't understand what is happening to her and needs Jayden's help to clarify all the changes happening. At this same time, Jayden realizes that Selena is "the one" for him and will do anything to protect her.
When a source close to Selena ends up putting her in danger, can she control her inner wolf to make the right decision? Can Jayden make it in time to protect the woman he loves? Can they overcome a huge obstacle associated with Selena's change that no one anticipated?
I love how all of the characters from the previous books are in every book. The books don't have to be read in order but you will love all of the characters. My only one complaint with this book is that there was a bit of an abrupt transition in the book towards the end as to how SWAT figured out who the head gang leader was and where his drug operation was. It got explained but I was a bit confused for a little bit until you read a bit farther.

How could you not fall in love with Jayden? He is every girl's dream of a hero. After Selena and Jayden connect through traumatic circumstances, the events that follow takes on a life of its own. Unknown to Selena that werewolves exist, she is fighting not only her transition in becoming an Omega, but trying to save her students from gang violence. Lots of suspense and drama as Jayden meets and protects what he believes is his mate. Paige Tyler always gives a wonderful story filled with so many great moments and page turning events, that I am hard pressed to stop reading until I read the HEA for the H & h. As one of my favorite authors I have read her books for a number of years. I would like to thank NetGalley Sourcebooks for gifting me "Wolf Rising". My opinion is my own. This is mine. 5 Stars!

Book eight in the Swat: Special Wolf Alpha Team is a well-written book, I want to read the other books in this series. Suspense, drama, danger, hostage taking, and romance, a book I enjoyed reading. I received a copy of this book through NetGalley and I am voluntarily reviewing it.

Jayden Brooks is a SWAT member, the team that packs a lot of "bite"! He never expected to find his mate during a siege at the local high school mind you!
Selena Rosa is said teacher and she lives for her students, encouraging them to leave gang life behind and embrace their education. There was no way she would ever leave behind a student she thought could be saved from gang initiations.
But when she gits bitten by Jayden during all the commotion, she has to quickly learn that she has a new set of powers and she is going to have to learn to control them, fast. It would normally take a few weeks for her to find her wolfy side, but with all the adrenaline of the situation she seems to be in a fast cycle.
Action, adventure, romance - what else do you need? The series hasn't grown stale over the course of the series and with The Hunters still on the prowl the urgency is still there.
The series is best read in order. Great read.

I voluntarily offered to review this book with no obligations and my opinions are honest!
It was a great book!
Selena is a high school teacher for godsakes, not a werewolf.
So how come she is sprouting fangs, furs, and claws.
Jayden did not believe in soulmates.
But when he scented Selena, all bets are off.
On top of that, she is experiencing her first transformation.
Good Luck Jayden! You are going to need it.
It has all the ingredients that you need for a great book!
I can't wait for the next book in this series.

Exploding right out of the gates from word one, Wolf Rising reminded me why I love this author’s SWAT series and her writing. As the series progresses so does the strengths of its individual and combined elements. The werewolf police SWAT team continues to amaze as gang warfare, hunter intrigue, and a close-up look at what it means to be an Omega wolf.
Review
Wolf Rising is book eight and I felt its strong ties to the earlier books in the series as ongoing series plot threads and a growing large cast of regular characters make it not a good place to jump into the series.
Jayden Brooks has been with the SWAT team for a long time. Personal tragedy in his early life and a near fatal injury in the early years of his police career are all part of the backstory bringing him to being a member of Gage’s team and pack. While fighting the war on drugs and gang crime, he gets called in for a school shooting in progress and that is when his whole life changes with one look into teacher Selena Rosa’s eyes.
Teaching at a school in the part of town where the gangs have a stranglehold on the kids and success stories for her students are few, but Selena will have it no other way. She’s dedicated to her job and her kids. Her classroom is meant to be a have for them to find some peace and a chance to learn- to get out and make good for their futures. But one flat-eyed newbie gangbanger has to bring a gun and take his bitterness out on her for standing between him and his recruitment efforts. She survives only because a big handsome police officer puts himself between the bullets and her. Her world upends in more ways than one. Jayden is all she could want in a man, but its those crazy things happening to her emotions and her body, the inexplicable strength and acute senses along with desire to sink her teeth into Jayden that terrify her the most.
As I said, this one jumped right into the action with a raid on a drug warehouse and then a school shooting. Jayden is involved in the investigation to find out who the new gangleader consolidating and unifying the gangs and their drug business is even while helping to discover more about the mole in the Dallas PD and the leader of the werewolf hunters.
Jayden was so easy to love from the start and get behind all that happens with him as he discovers his The One, helps two cop friends deal with personal crisis, and stepping in to do what he has to helping Selena with her change.
Ah yes, Selena’s change. It was cool to get it from the beginning as she becomes a werewolf and how it is complicated with feelings for Jayden, her concern for her students, and her hatred of the gangs. She’s a tough cookie and tended to lead with her emotions rather than common sense, but I couldn’t fault her for having a heart for work that most people would rather step back and look elsewhere over.
I thought the author did a great job of painting this new facet of city life and crime these days. She got real and it was gritty, but there was hope and light in the form of people like Selena and a few others willing to give back in these communities.
The mystery element of who was behind things and what was going on wasn’t tough to figure out early on. I still found it suspenseful because I was waiting to see what happened when the second shoe dropped. I’m also very curious about where things will go in the next book after that tantalizing hint toward the end regarding the hunters.
Side trail… that cat who comes to the name Kat was a hoot. She kept stealing the scenes and giving Tuffie a run for cute SWAT mascot pet.
All in all, this was another fabulous and solid entry in the series that read fast because I couldn’t put it down most of the time. Those who love cop romantic suspense paired with a refreshing take on werewolves should give these a try.
My thanks to Sourcebooks Casablanca for the opportunity to read this book in exchange for an honest review.

4.5 star
I was pulled right into this story. The story flowed well, and I was kept interested. The story has laughs, super-hot alpha wolfs, secrets, and heartbreak.
If you have not read the below I would recommend reading those books(s) first
Hungry Like the Wolf (SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #1)
Wolf Trouble (SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #2)
In the Company of Wolves (SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #3)
To Love a Wolf (SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #4)
Wolf Unleashed (SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #5)
Wolf Hunt (SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #6)
Wolf Hunger (SWAT: Special Wolf Alpha Team #7)
This is Selena and Jayden’s story. Selena was raised around gangs. She lost her brother to one. Now she is a teacher. When one of the gangs is in her class trying to recruit her students, she stands up to protect them. After the traumatic events she starts to change. But her change is different then what Jayden is used to. When he tries to explain what is happening she attacks him and runs. After she comes to terms with what is happening to her she must decide if she wants Jayden not only to help her but to be with her. Can they start a future together when they are still trying to take out the hunters and find out who is behinds them? Can they relax or is a war about to happen with the hunters and the wolfs? When all the secrets are out with the hunters and with Selena will she be okay? Or will it destroy her more to find out so many truths?
I loved these characters and the other wolfs. I felt I was able to connect with the characters and the story was a great read.
I highly recommend this book and can’t wait for the next story in this series.

I’ve been waiting for Brooks’ book since the beginning of the series. Hells yes. I totally believed the heat between Selena and Jace. I loved their story.
However, I have so many questions like...did we know Carter was an Omega?! What’s up with Kat the cat? Possible shifter? Rachel’s backstory? And poor Zane!! Is he going to fully recover.
Please Ms. Tyler, I’m on edge until your next SWAT book comes out. I need answers!!

This is book 8 in the series, and though it would probably be ideal to start at the beginning to pick up on the worldbuilding I suspect was done earlier in the series, it wouldn’t matter too much if you started here. All the minor characters are sketched in well enough for you to get an idea of who they are, and the two protagonists are thoroughly fleshed out with plenty of meaty backstory to get your teeth into.
Jayden Brooks is one of Dallas’ all-werewolf SWAT team. Once you accept the existence of an all-werewolf SWAT team and the fact that anyone with a particular recessive gene can become a werewolf if exposed to a traumatic enough event, you’re pretty much home and hosed as far as suspension of disbelief goes. Physically, Brooks is one of the biggest on the team, six and a half feet of muscle, a handsome black man who occasionally reads almost too good to be true. He cooks, he cleans, he can dance, he loves puppies. It’s no surprise the heroine, Selena Rosa, a beautiful Latinx teacher he rescues from a hostage situation, has a hard time believing he’s single.
Werewolves, however, get fated mates in this universe. They call it The One, and it’s not exactly clear here what makes one were The One for any other, apart from an overwhelming physical attraction.
Selena’s a teacher at a school in an area with serious gang problems, and she spends most of her free time as well as her working hours trying to give her students a reason to stay out of gang troubles. While she’s fighting these battles and dealing with transforming into a werewolf, Brooks has a different problem - a team of hunters out to kill any werewolf they can find.
There are some pretty spectacular confrontations in the book, and one thing I really liked was that Selena was never held back from the action. In fact, her choices led to major breakthroughs on cases Brooks had to deal with. There were really hot sex scenes between the two as well, though being werewolves things did get a bit rough (read; claws and teeth make things messy).
All in all I really enjoyed this, even though starting here in the series meant I had to take some worldbuilding things on faith. There were a few obvious Easter Eggs planted for later books in the series (the cat called Kat who isn’t afraid of werewolves, for example) but I’d definitely be happy to read any more of the SWAT werewolf books! Five stars for an excellent paranormal romance!
