Wow! I believe this is a good start to a great new series. Eva was ex-cia and saves her brother's friend right out from under the bad guys, who ever they are. Her brother is dead as well as the other friends who were in Afghanistan together. The problem is they have no idea who is after Rees. Eva calls on her IT friend and they find this group who are behind the scene for many of the ups and downs of countries around the world. A group who has people in each of the alphabet agencies makes it hard to protect themselves. But Eva is very resourceful and decides they go after the source. A must read.

Her brother's reported suicide spurs covert ops assassin Eva Driscoll into action investigating his death. When she finds that others he served with have also suffered recent unexpected deaths, she sets out to protect the last remaining member of the group in hopes of finding out the reasons for the deaths. But it isn't long before she's running for her own life.

Eva is admirably smart and capable. A clever assassin, but not one who is lacking a moral compass, she's interested in proving that the deaths she caused were righteous and if not, righting the wrongs she's done at the command of others.

This book is action-packed, brings forth questions of morality in war, government, and wealth. As you might expect, it's filled with violence and not for the faint of heart. It was a good, fast-paced read, and it looks like there will be a sequel that I'm looking forward to reading.

I like thrillers. This is book 1 in a new series about a woman assassin who was trained by and works for a clandestine branch of the government. Or at least that is what she thinks. When her brother dies in the kind of accident she creates, she finds out she actually works for a cabal of super rich men who are only interested in gaining more money. Because as we all know, money is power.
Eva forms a small group to fight these men, to bring them down or at least expose them so they cannot continue their selfish activities. She makes a good start. We will need more books in the series to see if she succeeds or if the forces allied against her are too much. I am waiting for the next book.
I received the copy of this book that I read for this review from Netgalley.

This definitely isn't the type of book that I normally reach for when looking for a new book but I read the synopsis crime books are some of my favorites, so why not! I love book that are "first in series" books so I knew I wanted to start with this one! It's book #1 in the Eva Driscoll series and I can not wait for book #2! Conspiracy theories abound in this well written tight book. Run and Hide is a fast paced thriller from start to finish. I love that the main character is female and she is kick ass in herself! She can definitely hold her own with the best of the bad guys that she is fighting.

Thoroughly enjoyed this book. Not my usual genre but will be on the lookout for more of the same.

Will recommend the author to friends and family, and eagerly await more material

I believe this is the first in a series about Eva Driscoll. Eva is a CIA operative who gets called in to take people down. When her brother is killed she goes on a mission to find his killer. What she finds is that his whole platoon is being eradicated, but she manages to save one, ex-soldier Rees Colback. Eva, and Rees with the help of some friends take on the biggest fight of their lives. Behind the government is a group of men who are really controlling the country. Not for the benefit of anyone but themselves.

Conspiracy theories abound in this well written tight book. Run and Hide is a fast paced thrill ride from start to finish. I love that the main kick ass character is female and that she can hold her own with the best of the guys she is fighting. The bad guys are deplorable and maybe strike a little too close to the billionaires club we read about every day in the USA these days. I'm from Philadelphia so I'm a sucker for an underdog and Eva going up against the powers that be can't be more of an underdog. I can't wait to read more about Eva and her team.

This is the first book by this author that I have read, but it definitely won’t be the last. It is an action-packed story with many similarities to happenings in the world today . . . Enough similarities that it was scary. It captured my interest at the first chapter and kept me turning pages well into the night until I finished it. I had to find out what happened next. I enjoyed reading this book and I look forward to reading more by this author.

I received a copy of Run and Hide from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

I love books like this one: Full of suspense, rightful fury and a plot moving at breakneck speed. You can't help but root for the protagonists, cheer at their victories, and lament their setbacks. There are plenty of twists and turns, and more than a few eye-opening revelations along the way. A great week-end read!

She's killed for them for years, and now they put her on the hit list. Then she begins to understand the work she was doing was not to protect the people of the US as she thought, it was to fill the pockets of the rich. She was working for for a secret group that eliminates anyone who might give them away. She and Rees Colback are on the list for being hit. She finds Rees, saves him from the group trying to grab him and they run...

Thomas & Mercer and Net Galley allowed me to read this book for review (thank you). It has been published and you can buy a copy now.

With all the resources the the group after them has, it's hard to hide but Eva does a good job. She also decides to fight back and brings in a couple more guys willing to fight for pay. They prove their worth in short order and Rees and Eva are glad to have them on their side.

It's a battle until the end, when what the group is doing goes public. When the descending cops take away the ones after them, things have changed. But there's one more lie they don't know about. They may still have to run and hide...

I received a free copy of this title from NetGalley in return for an honest review.

What a fast paced thriller! It sure gives a person a lot to wonder about as far as what goes on behind the scenes of what we perceive to be normal situations. The characters were fantastic and so well-described. It kept me guessing and on the edge of my seat the entire time I was reading it.

This is a thriller that starts at a run!

This thriller is like a Jason Bourne storyline that weaves together well-developed characters and layers-upon-layers of conspiracy. The action starts with the first page, and it just picks up from there. It was a wonderful story and a quick read because I didn't want to put it down until the end! I highly recommend the book, and will look for more from this author!!

In Run and Hide, Alan McDermott has written essentially a book-length action sequence that pulls the reader in from the first chapter and maintains a strong pace until the end. Eva Driscoll, the impossibly beautiful yet fierce heroine (who seems vaguely like a computer-game avatar) is determined to rescue the intended target of a secret organization that possesses immense wealth and controls half the government, not to mention every law enforcement agency that might stop it. This book is all about action and plot. The author delivers relentless forward motion, with plenty of summer-movie-style car chases, disguises, and dead bodies pretty much piling up everywhere. Focusing on the frequent clichés in the prose or worrying too much about the plausibility of the conspiracies feels being a poor sport. Enjoy the ride. Pretty much the only thing you should be wondering is whether Angelina Jolie will consent to star in the film adaptation.

This book was amazing! Not since Jack Reacher and Vanessa “Michael” Munro has there been a character like Eva Driscoll. This novel was an action packed page turner that I could not put down. I can’t wait to find out what else is in store for her and for us!

Run and Hide by Alan McDermott is a page turner! Extremely hard to put down! Eva and Rees work hard to unravel the secrets that every law organization seem to want to keep hidden. What they find out about themselves as they pull the threads to find the truth keep the read intense. Great characters and storyline.

I had originally bounced off the book because the beginning was a little difficult to relate to somehow. When the fugutives' journey began in earnest, however, it was suddenly a lot more engrossing. If there's a sequel, I look forward to reading it!

Cracking story

This new thriller is listed as An Eva Driscoll Thriller Book 1 which suggests there will be a series. If the standard of this one is maintained the world of the thriller novel has a huge success on its hands.

Eva Driscoll, the heroine, has been a CIA agent, ready and willing to take on any task to protect her country. That's until her brother's murder is disguised as suicide and she finds out that his close circle of friends has also been targeted and eliminated. The last of the group is Rees Colback, another member of Special Forces and she reaches him at the same time as whoever is trying to take him out, and that's when the fun starts.

If there is a flaw in the plot it is why these friends needed to be targeted at all – they could have been left alone, but to explain why here would introduce too many spoilers. It is explained briefly later in the story, but it's unconvincing. Normally this type of issue would spoil my enjoyment, but the plot and the constant action allowed me to put this behind me.

It's an all-action thriller which involves Eva and her small team chasing and being chased by the perpetrators across the USA. There is a twist at the end which was easy to see coming which again didn't spoil the pleasure of reading such a well-put-together and stimulating novel. In the end, you find yourself asking who does pull the strings?

I haven't previously read anything by Alan McDermott but will be looking out for any other of his publications.

Tense and enjoyable read. I believe that businesses do control all aspects of our life and that we are merely pawns to be moved as they dictate.

This was my first book by Alan McDermott. It had a lot of suspense and action. The characters were likable and from the ending I would guess there might be a second book in the series. I enjoyed his writing style. The pace moved quickly and it was easy to follow. The main character was a female which made it more fun, because usually those roles are always men. I would recommend this book 🙂🙂

Storylines such as this can be a bit formulaic and I have certainly read similar, with "The real power behind the government / billionaires who rule the world" being the centre of a plot - even Bond. None the less was a good read which I felt got better as it went on. The main protagonist is strong on revenge (searching for truth re brothers death) and the introduction of two British special forces types adds a twist which helps. I am sure there is a bit of an in joke with at least a couple of characters named (coincidentally?) after familiar authors. Action is tight and builds to a conclusion that perhaps leaves a back door open that may be better left shut and move on.
Interested to see next book.

Well, having read all of Alan McDermott's books, including his critically acclaimed 'Tom Gray' series, this manages to blow them all out of the water! Simply delicious, and a rare new series that has everything. There is something for everyone to enjoy here. I read hundreds of crime fiction/mystery/thrillers per year and I find due to that I am not rendered speechless by them anymore except on a rare occasion, but this is a whole different story, and this is that rare and delightful occasion. If I, a crime thriller junkie, adored this it will be all the more incredible to those who read the genre less than I happen to.

This book utilises the cult of conspiracy theory to create an unpredictable and perfectly paced plot. Being a lover of those theories, and what draws people to believe in them, I couldn't have enjoyed this more if I tried. One of the most captivating aspects of the novel was Eva Driscoll herself, a fierce, tenacious, strong, female lead character. This is only the first book and I know Eva and I are likely to become firm friends. I cannot wait to see her develop as a character and travel with her on her investigative adventures. The body count steadily rises as the action continues non-stop. At its heart, this is a political thriller, with Eva in the role of kickass heroine and former CIA assassin who is seeking to avenge her brothers faked suicide. 'Run and Hide' follows her intensely personal journey as she attempts to find answers. It isn't exactly a wholly original concept, although i'm not sure there really are any unique ones still to be used, but it is written in such a compelling manner that it exceeded all of my expectations.

I cannot wait to read the follow-up to this entitled 'Seek and Destroy' out on 14th Novermber 2018 - get that written down folks because it's going to be a good 'un! A well deserved five-stars. I rarely say this, but five stars doesn't seem enough for this spectacularly thrilling novel. I hope it is especially successful. It certainly deserves to be. I don't often gush like this about a book, but I truly feel it is warranted here. Undoubtedly, one of the best thriller writers in the genre today.

Many thanks to Thomas & Mercer for an ARC. I was not required to post a review, and all thoughts and opinions expressed are my own.
