I received this novel from net galley and the publisher for an honest review. Thank you!
This novel takes place in two parts. Lorelei Weatherstoke was crippled by her brother as a child, for he is a cruel individual and her parents did nothing. She finds a boy lying naked, badly injured, unconscious, and no memory of his previous life except a dragon tattoo. Lorelei calls him Ash and she falls in love with him. Ash falls in love with Lorelei and makes her two promises, but also knows he has a dark side, even though he does not have any memory of his previous life. Ash disappears with no word to Lorelei.
20 years later, a man called the Rook appears on the day Lorelei is supposed to be married and kidnaps her. She recognizes his as Ash, even though he tells her not to call him that. Both are not the same people they were 20 years ago. The Rook has done many notorious deeds and is a killer, but he has traveled around the world. The one thing that kept him going was Lorelei, for she was his heart and light, even though he did not realize it. They begin to reconnect with each other, even though it is very difficult for them, especially Rook, who has trouble discussing the past 20 years and his disappearance. Lorelei still loves him, even though he is the Rook, but still finds glimpses of Ash. Both will need to accept the past in order to have a future together.
I really loved this book! Lorelei was portrayed as meek/weak for just a bit, but her true strength was shown in her grit and endurance! She lived with the devil for all the years of her life and in the end, knew the truth that hating someone takes more passion and energy than forgetting them! The Rook was the perfect "bad boy" for the story. He has his history and reasons for why he was the way he was. The ending was perfect as well. The last words of the last chapter before the Epilogue truly summed up their whole connection for me! THAT was my favorite part! Thank you NetGalley for the ARC. This is one book that shouldn't be passed up!
So this should have been the real last one, but something in the end made me think that it could also be something different; anyway I am not very fond of bodice ripper and pirates so I didn't enjoyed this installment as the previous in the series, but it was not so bad.
Anche se questo dovrebbe essere l'ultimo volume della serie, ci credo poco, inoltre non essendo io una grande fan dei pirati non mi ha fatto proprio impazzire, ma alla fine é stato divertente quanto basta.
THANKS NETGALLEY FOR THE PREVIEW!
I was given an advanced readers copy in exchange for an honest review.
I hadn’t read one like this in a while, a good abduction with the rogue with a heart of gold. Reminds me of the romances I read as a kid in the 80s and 90s. Diverting.
