I received an excerpt of this book and I have to say it has me hooked! I can't wait to read the rest of the story.
Thank you to NetGalley and HarperCollins for the first look at this book.
I am really unhappy that it was only 1 chapter. Looking forward to the rest of the chapters...
The first chapter is really good...
Thanks a first lovely chapter. I liked the story, pity that it was just a little bit. I would shave wanted to have the chance of seeing the entire manuscript
I was chosen to read the first chapter of The Memory House. I can not wait to read the rest of this book. I am anxiously waiting the release date!
When Beck, an NYPD officer, is working on New Year's Eve with her partner and they go on a call that ends up with Beck chasing down a drug dealer punk, you know that this story is going to be good. I just don't know where Rachel Hauck is going to take the story next.
There is a sweet puppy that ends up being in this story too so you know that it is going to be good!
I can't wait to read this one in October! I am a huge fan of Rachel Hauck and I know that this story is not going to disappoint!
I received this ebook to read and review for free from Harper Collins. I only received the first chapter but what I have read looks like this could be a great story. Can't wait for April to come so I can read the entire book!
I received a complimentary copy of this book from Thomas Nelson through NetGalley. Opinions expressed in this review are completely my own.
Talk about a tease! The book begins with a tough as nails female police sergeant chasing down a drug thug, who seems to have a history with the police, and she doesn't stop until he is in handcuffs. The thug throws a bag, which sickens Beck, and she is determined to get help for what is inside.
I'm so intrigued by the first chapter of this book. I can't wait to receive the entire copy to see where it leads!

This first chapter piques interest. A tough female cop taking down a druggie perp who's abused an innocent dog. Story question well set up. Why has Beck changed from the by-the-book cop to a cop shedding tears and roughing up the perp? I'd read more.

I thoroughly enjoyed this sneak peak into The Memory House! Beck is a hardened NYC cop and she and her partner have been involved in trying to take down a drug dealer for months. However, in this excerpt, she goes against her usual, by the book procedure and roughs up the perp they have collared. Then she takes the abused dog that he has and leaves her partner to take him to the precinct while she heads to the veterinary clinic with the pup. I can't wait for the full book to be available for review, this sneak peek has definitely intrigued me!
I really enjoyed the small amount of this book I was able to access. I found Beck to be an interesting character that left me wondering why she has become the way she is. There is a harshness to her that draws the reader in. The way she dealt with the perp was believable and you can tell she is no nonsense. I am looking forward to being able to read the rest of this book in the future. I appreciated the advanced reading section that I received from Net Galley.
I was so much excited about the book and requested the title. The publisher and netgalley approved as well. but when I opened the book it has only one chapter - the first chapter. I was really dishearted . I email them but they didn'treply so I can'trate the book.sorry.
*I received a complimentary first chapter ARC of the this first chapter from Thomas Nelson through NetGalley to read and give an honest review. The thoughts stated are mine only.*
The story starts with Officer Beck and her partner/mentor on a foot chase on New Years Eve. When the catch the guy they find a mistreated dog with him. This obviously upsets Beck but her partner is concerned by her unusual attachment to the scenario. There is obviously something that is bothering and/or changing Beck. I can't wait to read the rest of the story and see how this plays out!
Hauck is a wonderful storyteller who weaves the past and the present together in entertaining ways. I'm looking forward to her newest novel!
his is another great read Rachel Hauck. I read her first series and now I liked this book just as much. She has a unique clean writing style that draws you in and just won't let you put the book down. I read this one in 5 hours. Highly recommend.

I only got the first chapter, but it does pull you in immediately. It teems with secrets yet to be revealed. I would definitely read the whole book.
It had me hooked from the beginning. Beck Holiday is a NYPD chasing down a druggie on New Years, along with her partner, Hogan.
She catches him and realizes she's arrested him three previous times. In his bag, she finds a small dog near death who had obviously been fed drugs.
Beck used to be hard nosed. Something has happened that has made her soft and tear up over things that wouldn't have before. This pup touched something inside her.
I didn't realize this was only a sampling of the book that is not yet out. So, to say I was extremely disappointed when I got to the end of it and discovered this is an understatement. I cannot wait for the full book to come out!
Action packed and gripping.

In this sample chapter, we get a glimpse into the life of Beck Holiday, a tough angry New York cop. It is quite clear from the arrest in the first chapter that she has a burden on her heart that is distracting her.
I was drawn to this book because I have not read a female policewoman in Christian fiction so I am curious to see Beck Holiday character growth. Though the book is set in the 1950s and present-day, the other main protagonist is not mentioned in the sample chapter. My curiosity is definitely piqued.
I am looking forward to seeing how their stories intertwine.
This is a provisional rating as I have received the first chapter only from Netgalley. I hope to read and review the whole book in October.
The first chapter is written in a style which has me intrigued about the characters, and an eagerness to know what happens next.
The first chapter does not match up the review of the book nor make me want to read more, but I also realize that it is only the first chapter. I just couldn't connect with the character from one chapter and found her kind of unlikable. Maybe the full book will change my opinion. I don't want to judge the book by the small taste I got of it, but I'm not that interested in reading more if I am honest.
This books seems like it is going to be really good but reading just one chapter was not enough to really formulate an opinion or even get into the story. It was a good chapter though. Looking forward to the entire book because the summary sounds awesome!
Oh man. So I only received a sneak peak at the first chapter from the publisher via NetGalley. The introduction to one of the main characters seems like a major departure from Rachel Hauck's usual work...and I think I'm going to love it. I can't wait to get my hands on the rest.
From the blurb, it sounds like it might be in her usual dual narrative format. But Beck Holiday, at least, seems like she might be a bit grittier than Hauck's usual heroines. I'm intrigued to see where it goes.
Action from the start as police officer Beck Holiday chases a perp on the streets of Manhattan, N.Y. Beck thinks as she runs, “She was never afraid of the dark. But the light? Now that terrified her.”….she yells, ”NYPD. Stop!”
Beck is in the lead her partner Hogan is bring up the rear in this full-on pursuit Hogan wished she’d end. “Adrenaline made her wonder woman.” No way was she ending anything.
I was hooked from the first sentence and caught up in the drama as this angry, tough, woman who’s on edge; almost goes ballistic when she sees a little dog with a misshapen belly that’s obviously filled with drugs.
I was hooked by the action, felt for the two characters that are introduced and left wanting MORE after reading the first chapter!
I’m marking my calendar for the release of this one. April 2, 2019. I have a feeling I won’t want to miss this read. After reading the Book Cover this might make for a good book club pick.
