Karen Foley is a pro at sweet, small town romances. This book, along with the others in the series, is lighthearted, charming, and wholesome. She brings her characters to life with their real world issues and relateability. And you know what? They are just a pure pleasure to read. Every now and then I get in a romance rut because I feel like I am reading the same book all over again. But her books and their lighthearted nature make me want to read the genre more than I wanted to previously.
If you are in the mood for a lighter read with less sex and more buildup this is the book. Sure, the romance between the characters blossoms awfully fast, but the true nature of the story delivers straight to the heart. I very much recommend this book, and the series as a whole. Each book features a different couple and can stand alone.
Great book. This is the first book I have read by this author. I like the fact that this book can be read as a stand-alone or as a part of a series. I would recommend this book to anyone who likes real life circumstances mixed in with good fiction.
A Soldier's Homecoming is a well written romance. The author is new to me and I enjoyed her writing and will be reading more of her books in the future. This book is very well written. If you enjoy a good romance I recommend this book.
A Soldier's Homecoming is book 3 in Karen Foley’s Glacier Creek series, and a thoroughly enjoyable edition to this captivating series.
Each story is designed to be a standalone, but readers would definitely benefit from familiarising themselves with the previous stories and characters, who often make cameo appearances.
I’m looking forward to more from Ms Vayden and the coming books in this series.

Great story and a good plot that left me wanting more. India was a little tough to get close to in the beginning and when she becomes a bit more likable the book is winding down. Her sister annoyed me to no end. I liked Lucas. Home from the Army after spending his time in Special Ops he wasn't able to make it home for his stepfather's funeral. His mother who needs a serious time out begs him to track India down and find out why she was in the car with father/husband when he died, she critically injured. Because his father was a wealthy business man, and India a cutting edge magazine editor, artist and designer, their tragedy was splashed all over the media. After India is released from her 4 month long hospital stay, she retreats to Maine to her mothers home only to be dogged yet again by the paps. After a very generous settlement out of court with Lucas's father's insurance company India is given a great deal of money and also a house in Glacier Creek. A house no one has been to in 1o years. Feeling like she can blend in there and keep a low profile, she retreats there off the grid with her mother and sister. India still suffers from some lingering health issues from the accident along with a very large one that looms over her future. Took Lucas a while but he's tracked her down and is determined to find out who India really is and why she was in the car with his step father. If only to shut his mother up. He takes an immediate liking to India. India is still wary of anyone she doesn't know and keeps him at a distance for a while, then the relationship shifts and they grow closer. India has no memory of that night, only nightmares. Lucas without even asking comes to realize that India wasn't what or who his mother thought she was. She was just a bitter angry woman who was more concerned with her public appearance than anything else. Lucas hasn't come clean with India and India hasn't told Lucas about her one spoiler that's she's been left with from the accident. The day they were both going to tell each other their own truths his mother shows up and blows everything out of the water. India doesn't know that Lucas was his stepson. The mother totally blows a gasket at India sending her fleeing, never wanting to see Lucas again.
I'm going to leave the story there. Because that's about where it belongs. Lucas was a good man I thought and India a likable soul. There were things that they did in the story that didn't ring right with me,considering her health concern but it's fiction ... again, this book had great potential. It ended too quickly, all nice and tidy complete with bow and that didn't work for me. Did I want a happy ending? Absolutely. We all do. It was just too contrived and quick.
Read the book. See what you think. It's not bad, not great. It's just ok. It's a quick and easy read.
Good for summer reading.
**arc from NetGalley and Tule Publishing for an honest review** All thoughts are my own.
A short but emotional read when you get to India's part of the story.
Only 4 stars from me as I did feel the ending was all a bit rushed.
Nice to catch up with other residents of Glacier Creek, and I wonder who the next book will be about!
My heart breaks for India. What she went through and is still going through. The way that Lucas's mother is using him to deceive India, puts him in a very hard place. I loved how it all worked out.
