Very funny book! Totally enjoyable! Great group of characters and really fun dialog! And of course, dogs!
I love the title and I love the cover, but I didn’t love the book. I feel like you need to read the first book to understand who’s who, which I didn’t read so I was confused a lot. I wanted to like it, it started out interesting, but then it seemed like there was to much going on and there was no easy flow from one thing to the next.
This engrossing mystery captivated me from its very first page. Once again murder (and dog napping) have come to Lewes, Delaware and so once again Sue Patrick and Lady Anthea Fitzwalter, the co-owners of Buckingham Pet Palace are on the case. Sue is called by her overnight employees who are reporting a theft at the Palace at the same time her prospective boyfriend, Police chief John Turner, calls her asking for her help in rescuing a dog who has been left at a lighthouse on a nearby island. Sue and John get the dog but when she gets back home, Sue discovers the body of Billy B., a local business owner at the deli where he was known and beloved for his opera singing, dead in her driveway. Billy was the owner of the dog, who turns out to have been a Westminster dog show winner. There suspects, former Nazis, shipwrecked treasures and characters who are warm and multi-dimensional. Sue is quick witted and clever as she unravels the mystery with the help of her friends and co-workers. This book has likeable characters and a polished plot and I highly recommend it.
