In an apocalyptic world, a suicidal teen named Lizzie accesses her facebook page hoping to connect with someone else who has survived their now disease ravaged world.

While the story has a premise that I can't necessarily call it fully original, it is an interesting story with an interesting main character. It's an overall well done novel,

All is silence by Robert L Slater.
In a future that could be ours, Lizzie, a suicidal teen-age girl, barely navigates her own life. Then everything falls apart. In an apocalyptic land nearly deserted by disease, she lacks reasons to live until a shocking turn of events reveals a phone number. Her call pulls her dangerously cross-country to meet a stranger she thought was dead.
In a world wh3*.ere there is plenty of food, plenty of gas, plenty of space… fear, anger and a lust for power still control the patterns of human life.
This was a slow but ok read with some likeable characters. Lizzie was my favourite character.
3*.

Lizzie has lost everyone due to an unknown disease that has no cure. The majority of the population is dead. Lizzie doesn’t know if she wants to live or not. She talks to a friend via her cell phone but also still goes on her Facebook page hoping to connect with others who have survived. She is joined by friends she knew from school. As they search empty homes, Lizzie finds a baby and decides to take care of it. She finds her absentee father’s telephone number and calls. They manage to reach each other on the phone. What will they talk about? What will Lizzie do to survive in this apocalyptic world? Will she survive?

In the novel you find out about her mother, her mother’s boyfriend, and younger brother. I experienced Lizzie’s despair and happiness, her anger and fears. The story draws you in with Lizzie and her friends. It gave me some thoughts about what I would do if in that situations surviving when there is hardly anyone left alive. It’s an excellent read.
