I struggled to get into this book and ultimately did leave it behind because I simply had trouble feeling connected to the characters. However, I think the right audience will appreciate it in ways I could not.
Now titled All That Glitters!!! French Revolution, magic, YA romance, beautiful cover art! So many elements had me pick up this book!!
I look forward to reading others in the series! Thank you netgalley!
I really wanted to like this book. The synopsis held so much promise, but the book failed to deliver as much as I hoped for from it. I enjoyed it well enough, but with a few tweaks it could have been an even more enjoyable read.
A beautiful mix of historical fiction and fantasy.
Thanks to NetGalley / Edelweiss and the publisher for providing me with an eARC of this book in exchange for a review.
I loved loved loved this original and compelling historical fantasy. I’m a big nerd for the French Revolution and this book checked all the boxes for me with a wonderful magical twist. I loved that this was a story about sisters and family. I also adored the whimsy and dark twists about Versailles and looking at this historical event via a new lens.
Not my favorite historical fiction, but still pretty good. It offered a glimpse into historical Paris with a fantasy twist, but it felt a bit slow in the plot at times.
Unfortunately, this just missed the mark. It has really compelling elements - French Revolution, Versailles, magic, Paris - but it was very slow and none of the characters were particularly compelling. I foresee a lot of teen readers having trouble making it through this book.
I love the French setting and the mix of historical fiction and fantasy in this story. I love reading about Paris even in a historical context. There is just so much history there.
Wonderful! Absolutely charming! Wonderful writing, original plot, lovely characters, I devoured this novel and cannot wait for the second one to hit the shelves! Highly recommended for historical fiction lovers!
A in-depth imagining of a Versailles/France built by enchantment and held up by secrets, intrigue, & blood magic. Some of the plot points could be resolved with an actual conversation, but still inventive, fun, & vibrant in its decadence. ★★★★
An exquisite historical fantasy! The magic based on sadness was poignant, compelling, and extremely well thought through. Loved Camille's relationship with her sister, and also adored the charming balloonist Lazare. Super excited for the sequel.

This French Revolution Historical Fantasy was a wild ride! At times it felt like too much for one story, but overall an engrossing read. Loved the court politics and magic system, will recommend.
I didn't care for the book. The characters felt superficial. The addition of magic didn't make for a better underlying story. I barely finished it.
Enchantée is a very good if slightly slow magical ya book. The beginning starts off extremely promising, with beautiful scenes of France, revolution, balloons, and magic. Then, once the characters are all introduced and the game starts to take shape, the plot seems to meander a little bit.
I think some of the scenes were unnecessary, only making the book longer but not necessarily adding to the whole.
The last 10% was very good and I will definitely be reading the 4th book. Vive la France!
This book was the perfect mix of historical fiction and fantasy. The author did a fantastic job of creating an atmospheric novel - not an easy thing to do. The French Revolution was taken to the next level here and told through the eyes of trio of endearing characters. This book was a bit long but it wouldn't stop me from recommending it to a friend.
Due to the format of this file, I was unable to read it and therefore cannot provide adequate feedback. Please provide a file format that can be read via Kindle going forward. Unfortunately, NetGalley does not provide a way to see file formats prior to requesting a title.
I have heard a lot of excellent things about this book and it did live up to many of my expectations. It was a wonderful read but I was frustrated at how hard it was for me to get into this book. The magic of Versailles and Aeronautics drew me in but the book lacked the ability to keep me up reading it. It is one of the first books in a while that has taken me more than a day to read simply because I kept putting it down since Enchantee could not keep me interested for long periods of time. This was disappointing but I still found the story interesting with its take on a girl navigating the two worlds of France during Louis XVI’s reign.
The time period and setting was phenomenal. This made me want to visit Paris, and the atmosphere was very realistic. Trelease doesn't shy away from the hard truths of the time, which really made the story come alive for me. The main con for me was the pacing. It was quite slow in places. However, I did enjoy the story a lot overall!
This was great! I love a good blend of history and fantasy, and this was very well done and entertaining. I liked the romance a lot, and the MC is one to root for. Very enjoyable read, that I'd have no problems recommending.
Enchantee ended up being a new favorite of mine. I loved the French court intrigue that we got to see a lot of paired with the lives of normal people during the French 1700s. It is such a fabulous blend of fantasy and historical fiction. The main character, Camille, was easy to like and was an imperfect character which was fresh and nice to see. She's a magician with a craving for power as well as a craving to help her sister who like her is struggling in poverty. I also loved the love interest, Lazare, who was biracial.
The book was very good though a little bit long, however, the story was so intriguing that it almost didn't matter.
