I received a copy of this book for a fair and honest review. I used this book with my own personal journal. IT made me think of my life as a whole and back to moments both good and bad, but it helped me see and deal with a few things. That made this book really useful to me. I like all the page templates and activities. It was a lot of fun.
The concept of a collective journal is interesting, but this execution is really just boring. The questions could have been way more interesting and in depth, but they weren't.
FILL ME IN described as "Part Journal, Part Game, All Yours" is a cute idea for 20 and 30 somethings to record ideas about their life experience, choices and predictions. I was actually surprised at how group oriented the activities seemed as opposed to being more of a reflective journal, maybe something like Start Where You Are by Meera Lee Patel, or one associated with gratitude. If you have close extroverted friends it might be fun to complete FILL ME IN together, but if the friends are truly close, there may not be any true secrets to reveal.
Fun for a girls night! Also would be a great gift for a girl in her twenties to document future goals!
I think this is a really great book if you have a bunch of close friends or a big friend group and mostly for teens or single young adults. I liked how there is a bunch of different prompts and it reminded me of a similar format book I had as a child only this one is a lot better in my opinion. I feel like this could also make a fun birthday party game.
If you're a fan of Facebook quizzes and personality tests, this is definitely something you're going to love! It has all the best elements of those things, but it allows you and your bestie (or whomever you want) to fill the book out together! It gives you space to write about the way that you met, what you value most in each other, and lots of other fun questions to answer. Some of the questions are very deep, and others are just fun (which Hogwarts house are you?), but all of it is fun! It brings back memories of passing notes with my best friend in high school!
A very cute concept that is a great tool for self-help. .Some of the prompts are silly, some of the prompts are thought-provoking, but each one is a great start for conversation and bonding between friends and yourself.
I received this book from the publisher in exchange for an honest review.
Thank you Touchstone for the ARC in exchange for an honest review.
We have read and have in our collection at the library a lot of self-help journals but they all teach the same thing and the exercises are basically the same. Fill Me In is a new way to journal and the best part it incorporates social media and technology into journaling which is definitely a new and innovative approach to journaling that not only teen but adults can benefit from too. This is a book that every person young/old can benefit from one way or another and by the exercises presented, they are sure to learn something new.
We will definitely consider this title for our Non-Fiction collection at our library and that is why we give this book 5 stars.
I was eager to check out Fill Me In, I have journaled most of my life, so I was extremely interested in this book. I think it is a wonderful idea and some of the orompts are thought provoking and interesting but for the most part, it has a very juvenile feel to it. The pop culture references will be dating and honestly irrelevant. If you don’t belive me get the original Trivial Pursuit Game from the 1980’s. DATED!
I hope looking back at your 20’s and 30’s you will have something and people in your lives that are way more interesting than this book gives up....I know I did!
Thank you NetGalley for the opportunity to read for a fair review.
