Review: A TASTE OF MURDER by J. H. Wear

An endearing Canadian mystery with a multiplicity of plot twists, A TASTE OF MURDER keeps Edmonton detectives--and readers--pondering who is the killer, and even who was the intended victim--and why? Why this victim, and why at this particular time?

At a regional wine festival held at an Edmonton convention center, a partner in a sales agency dies during his booth's morning set-up. He did have some cardiac weakness, but the cause of death was more imminent. Did he anger someone sufficiently to inspire premeditation? Certainly this wasn't spur of the moment manslaughter. So who wanted him out of the way, and why?

Enjoyable homicide detectives, an unusual approach to investigation (quantum metaphysics as investigative tool), and an education in wine production and marketing keep suspense turned up and readers tuned in.

Thankyou to NetGalley, BooksGoSocial and J.H. Wear for the opportunity to read a copy of A Taste For Murder in exchange for an honest and unbiased review.
Firstly, I thought the book was very informative on the wine scene, so that was interesting. Unfortunately though, the storyline appeared to drag.
Sorry but not a book for me.

Not a really horrible book but not terrific either. There is too much going on between the two leading characters, as they are 'just friends'... yeah... There is too much talk about how the women in the story look and there are too many people in the story as such. Sometimes it reads like a telephone list, all those names. I don't like it in a book when you have to remember all the names without knowing whether a person will become important in the story or not.
Also, it was quite slowly moving. A death in the firt chapter, an arrest in the last, and in between two people who kept walking around and talking to people without anything else going on.
It was, though, very nice to read about how the world of wine selling works. And the cover is beautiful.

Thank you NetGalley for this book.

I rather like this book, it did float around a little, lot of side tracking, but it was an enjoyable book and very genteel. The ending was a little predictable, but not till 3/4 of the way through. A very readable book which pulls you in, especially if you are interested in the wine scene.
