I will be purchasing this book and Arthur Truluv for a few of my loved ones to read. I luvvvvvvvvvvvd this book. I cried for Lucille. I bawled for Tiny and Monica. I was a complete mess for Abby and her son Lincoln. This book hit me in a place I havent been affected in a long time. All I can say is that Elizabeth Berg is a fabulous author and I recommend this book. I think you must read The Story of Arthur Truluv first.

Night of Miracles came as a big surprise because I didn’t know it was the sequel to the beloved The Story of Arthur Truluv. I didn’t realize how much I missed these characters until they were back in my life. Berg wrote this so it can absolutely stand-alone.

What makes this book so damn touching are the character’s well-developed personalities. It makes the reader get to know them better and thus be part of their lives. The charm of small town life is epitomized in this book. It will make you yearn to take a baking class with Lorraine or have breakfast at the diner. Obviously all small towns do not have such kind do-gooders, as any reader will attest too, but it still worked beautifully in fiction.

There are some deeper moments that land on guilt, loss, hope and friendship. It’s a book that makes you look at the people in your life and make sure they treat you with kindness and respect and also reminds you to always be kind as well. It’s never a bad choice. If there’s a book three in this series, I hope the story of Monica and Tiny are the main stars. And in book four (pretty please Ms. Berg) I’d like to know what Maddy and Nola are up to.

In this welcome continuation of the story of Arthur Trulove's community, the lives of Lucille and Maddy are followed. Lucille, retired teacher, teaches baking classes in her home, and Maddy is married with a little daughter. Added to the mix are the family next door to Lucille; the mother has leukemia, the husband is bereft, and the son finds a haven with Lucille. There's also Tiny, who has long been infatuated with Monica, a waitress who shares his feelings even though neither can bring themselves to admit it to the other. As this quiet plot unfolds, Berg creates people we care about and whom she obviously likes. This is a novel about kindness and community, and brings welcome relief from the mean-ness of current events.

Sometimes life comes at you sideways, like a shy cat, and utterly but pleasantly changes your life for the better. Ms. Berg is a master at showing how tiny interactions ripple through the lives of many unconnected souls can dramatically improve everything.

Loving “The Story of Arthur Truluv “ by Elizabeth Berg I knew “Night of Miracles” would also be a favorite even before reading it. Elizabeth Berg, one of my favorite authors, did not disappoint. Lucy Howard and the cast of characters that touch her life are so likable, with such grateful friendships and community strength. I highly reccomend this book.

A sweet follow-up to Arthur Trulove. I had read the first book awhile back and forgot most of the storyline, but Night of Miracles does a great job of reminding (or informing) the reader of the first novel while weaving together the new characters and their stories.

This novel is an easy read with a feel-good element to it. Would recommend both of Elizabeth Berg’s novels about Arthur.

Classic Berg; Loved reconnecting with familiar characters; a must-read for Berg fans; equal parts funny and sad

Elizabeth Berg writes books about real people with real issues with real solutions involving people of all ages that we can relate to. Beautiful book about a lovely elderly woman who we met in her last novel Arthur Truluv; her new neighbors with a super awesome kid and going through a family crisis, a new arrival in the small town of Mason who finds a new life for herself after her divorce; a fat man named Tiny who thinks he needs to lose weight to get the woman of his dreams and several other great characters you can't help but love. Thoroughly enjoyed another great read by this author! Thank you to Netgalley and the publisher for the ARC

I really enjoyed all the intertwining stories in this book. Elizabeth Berg does a great job of describing the characters and peppering the stories with important background information regarding the characters. Definitely worth the read!

This might just be my favorite Elizabeth Berg book yet! I've been reading her novels since her very first one and she's the only author whose collection of books I own in hardcover. Night of Miracles is a dream come true for any fiction lover. It is full of lovable and immensely believable characters, acute sensory attention to detail, and a story that feels complete in word as well as in my heart. This is one of those books that I wanted to read all over again as soon as I finished the last page!

Thank you to the author, publisher, and NetGalley for a digital ARC in exchange for my honest review.

I would rate this 3.5 stars. I did not read the first book, so maybe that would have helped with this story. The characters were great, but the story seemed jumbled & not making sense how they were connected in the beginning of the story. The ending tied things together more.

I enjoyed this book immensely. Having read The Story of Arthur Truluv I felt as if I was back home seeing what has happened to the characters. What a wonderful sequel. This book forced me to think about having a simpler life where you actually know and love your neighbors. The author did an outstanding making the characters thoughtful and accepting of others . You could feel their humanity . If you Read the Night of Miracles you will not be disappointed.

Night of Miracles was a light read. It was hard to get in to at first but it was a nice change of pace. This book is a sweet story about small town and how communities come together. Nice summer read. Lucille being in her 90’s give me hope for a full long life. This women did not let anything stop her. Very well written and loved all the characters.

NIGHT OF MIRACLES by one of my favorite authors, Elizabeth Berg, is a total delight! This is a sequel to the wonderful THE STORY OF ARTHUR TRULUV, although it’s not necessary to read ARTHUR first.

I love the characters Berg has created and the sense of community she gives us in small town Mason, Missouri. Octogenarian Lucille Howard teaches popular baking classes (ooooh what delights ... I want to be in that class!) and shares love as well as recipes as she imparts her wisdom.

Tragedy strikes when a new family moves to Mason, and other residents face their fair share of hard times. The way that friends, especially the woman, circle ‘round to provide support and community so moved me that it brought tears. An upbeat, uplifting antidote to the constant
bad news swirling ‘round us in this world. To Berg I say, “Encore! Encore!” 5/5

4.5 stars - this was such an incredibly heartwarming book. It is a sequel/companion to The Story of Arthur Truluv and centers around Lucille Howard and introduces some new residents of Mason, Missouri. It is not necessary to have read The Story of Arthur Truluv, but it would definitely allow you to appreciate the book even more. I laughed at Lucille's comments and observations and cried with the characters as well. I highly recommend this book and look hope there are more books about the town and residents of Mason.

This book was magical. Every single character was so beautifully written that I felt like I knew them personally. Technically this book is part 2 of The Story of Arthur Trulove ~ however, I haven't read that book yet and I wasn't lost

This book is everything; love, hope, life and miracles.. Elizabeth Berg is in my Top Ten List of favorite authors because her writing is like that comfy pair of jeans that always make you feel happy

P!ease please please please read this book. Please buy this book for a friend. With everything going on in the world, love and hope are essential right now.

I loved this book - and I'll admit, it made me shed a tear or two! Lucille was a great character, sweet but very stubborn. I found her very relatable and realistic; really well developed.

I thoroughly enjoyed seeing how all of the characters in the book interacted with and affected one another - it really brings home how small actions can set off chain reactions and make more of a difference than you think! And the female friendships and support in the book were just lovely to read.

I wish I could live in the little town of Mason, Missouri and take those baking classes - those desserts sound amazing!

I've never read Elizabeth Berg before, but I'll definitely be making a point to read more of her in the future; I thoroughly enjoy her world-building and characters. I didn't realize this book was a sequel to "The Story of Arthur Truluv. " I feel as though I may have enjoyed the mentions of the primary characters of that book more if I had read that book first, but this book was certainly still very enjoyable even as a standalone.

I received this book from NetGalley in exchange for an honest review.
