Fans of western themed romantic tales will likely really enjoy this book. With a somewhat stereotypical lone female rancher under attack by a neighboring villain who wants her land theme, the author included enough character plot twists and suspense you wanted to read to the end to find out how it all works out.
Moving at a leisurely pace, Logan, the hero, soon falls for what he thinks he can never have, Paige, the heroine. Ten months ago her beloved husband was killed, and she still grieves the lost of his life and love. Though Logan is the first man to make her feel maybe it is time to move on from her grief, she also is reluctant in the beginning to put her heart on the line again. Ultimately, she becomes the one who speaks up first and seems more inclined to fight for their love, folks.
With some predictable showdowns intermixed with unexpected ones, the writing did flow well. About halfway into it, some steamy scenes definitely seeped into it. Not surprisingly, western style violence and justice did, as well.
Cameos and references regarding previous book characters also get introduced. Having read Book 3, A Sheriff’s Passion, I found it brought a cohesiveness of family on behalf of the hero’s side of things.
Overall, I was glad to see this good guy hero and strong, determined leading lady find happiness together.
Title: A Marshal’s Promise: Series: Frontier Montana (Book 5), Author: Michelle Beattie, Pages: 415, stand-alone but part of a series, widow rancher heroine, good guy US Marshal hero, a couple very steamy scenes, some violence, no rape, both celibate for while, no cheating, no love triangle, no love triangle, jealous OM, no OW drama.

I really liked this and liked the suspense I would recommend trying it and author it really enjoyable read
I have not read a book set in this era before, so was uncertain about reading this book, but I really enjoyed it.
Great set of characters whoch makes me want to read the rest of the books in this series.
Fifth in the series, and the third of the McCall brothers. This one is Logan's story, the U.S. Marshall. While chasing after a gang of train robbers, he comes across a steer left for dead. Shooting it puts it out of it's misery, but when Paige sees him shoot her animal she gets angry and shoots him instead. Thankfully just in the leg. Paige is being pressured to sell her ranch, and is slowly losing cattle and fences. After her husband was also killed, and the law does nothing, she is getting more frustrated. Sparks fly of course, and build nicely to a HEA. Enjoyed this book, although did like the others a bit more. Not sure why, but this one seemed a bit slow in the beginning. Once Logan got there, it picked up, and kept my interest to the end. Would highly recommend this book. series and author. Can stand alone.
I just loved this book. Not much of a fan on old Western t.ype of book but I really enjoyed this one. Kept me on my toes. Couldputit down finished it in one setting! The story line was great can't wait to read more!
This was the first book that I have read by this author but, it definitely won't be the last. Logan was a Marshal who was tracking down a gang when he came across a steer that was dying. He had just shot it to keep it from suffering when a gun was pulled on him. Paige was tired of people killing her animals and trying to run her off of her property. She didn't realize he was a Marshal until after she shot him. Once she realized that he wasn't one of the men trying to kill her steers, she took him home and took care of him while he was healing. When Logan found out what had been happening on Paige's ranch, he decided to stay until he figured out what was going on and stopped it. What he didn't know was that both of their problems were linked. Will he stay with Paige when it is over or will he continue to atone for his past? This is a great read with a realistic storyline and wondreful characters. I would definitely recommend this book.
