I struggled with this book because it felt like Kenisha was talking to me, telling the story. There's quite a bit of internal dialogue, the minimum is dedicated to placing the reader in the setting. The action moves quickly, and the voice is youthful. This didn't work for me personally, but the writing feels appropriate for a tween, and possibly a younger teen, audience.
