Devotionals are a great gift for a lot of people. I had a lot of excitement about this one because "Our Daily Bread Ministries" is an expert about devotionals. Even when it is not my favorite genera, I enjoyed going through this pages. I recommend you to get it and try to cherish all the wisdom you can get.

STAND STRONG: 365 Devotions for Men by Men is available as a hard cover and as a kindle devotional. The daily devotion starts with a Scripture reading followed by a verse of Scripture and a two minute antidote or story relating to the verse. The kindle version brings up the Scripture reading when you touch the reference, if you are connected to the internet.
"Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous; be strong.
- 1 Corinthians 16:13"

**Sincere thanks to Discovery House, and NetGalley for the opportunity to read this digital ARC in exchange for an honest review which was my pleasure to provide.

Thank you for the opportunity to review your devotion book. As a woman, I would have to say it was good. It has a purpose in the sense it get people reading their bible daily with a verse but i think it should give the person the verse and allow them to search the verses for themselves as appose to them already being readily available for them to read in the book.

Thank you for the opportunity to read it.

This collection of devotions from Our Daily Bread was good. Outside the fact that all the devotions were written by men I believe that women would find the devotions beneficial as well.

Since this a devotional book, I have not finished reading it, but I am enjoying it as I go. I like that the devotions are short and to the point. A lot can be said with a few words. After I finish reading it, I will post reviews on Amazon and a few other sites.

I received a copy of this book from the publisher through Net Galley. What follows is an honest review.

The book it self is great, however with the reviewing process it's kind of hard to do because this book is meant to be read on a day to day basis and we only have a few weeks to review it. Also the title says " For Men by Men" I don't really think it's specially just for men. I feel like it's more neutral and can be for both Men & Women.

Other then those two things, the format really is easy to follow, less then 2 mins per day, with a story and scripture that is tied in with it.

It's honestly a great tool, for someone such as myself who is into bible study. I will definitely continue to read it.

It is hard to review a book like this. Devotionals like this are to be read one a day. Advanced copies for review have a time limit on them. The ebook stops working or you have a limited time to review. (Or both). So my first problem was reading several weeks at a time. There is a pattern most devotional books follow. This one it was: Bible verses, story about real life, moral. When done right all flows. When done wrong, you scratch your head and go 'huh'. The publisher of this book is the book publisher for Our Daily Bread magazine. If you have read it these devotionals are just like them and my guess came from them. They do have a habit of hitting the mark most times, we all hit a clunker now and then.

Reading several weeks at a time got old fast. These are things you have to take time and ponder. That is not a fault of the book, more of the review process. The book I feel, when used in daily fashion would be good to read one and meditate one.

In fact I feel these would be good for anyone. That is why I knocked off a star. These are not men's devotionals. I have said they were most likely culled from Our Daily Bread and for that reason they would have to appeal to all. That is not to say that these devotionals do not have a male focus, just that they are generic enough to, for my taste, to be gender neutral.

If you are in need for a good devotional book, one that takes you through every day of the year this would be a book to pick up.

My husband and I were recently privileged to receive a copy of this devotional from @netgalley. We are hit and miss, but most nights, we get to read one. Stand Strong is very good!

It’s one of those short inspirational devotionals that takes less than 2 minutes to read, but as my husband said, “its good. I think about what we read the next day.” And with quotes like this, who wouldn’t think about them again the next day?

“Remember the steady pace of Cliff Young and the apostle Paul as you run your race. It’s a marathon, not a sprint, so “let us run with endurance the race God has set before us”

“Jesus asks the same of us today. He asks us to follow Him, love Him, obey Him, and tell others about Him. Like the apostles, we don’t know what our commitment to Jesus might bring.”

I’m not a man. True. But through many days and nights of reading devotions with my husband, I can judge well what styles of devotional readings tickle his fancy—and which ones don’t. And just like us women, sometimes men must wade through a few uninteresting books to find one that speaks to them.

Stand Strong definitely has a masculine slant. From ants to pine cones, male friendship to obedience, the lessons in the devotional focus on examples with which men can connect. General Eisenhower, The Bourne Identity movie, one-handed football player Kris Silbaugh, a young soldier being harpooned with vaccinations, and a wife who makes pot roast are just a few of the characters used to illustrate Scripture in a way that is engaging to most men.

Another plus was the mix of daily topics. Where I enjoy devotions that run for days or even weeks with a focused theme, my husband would much prefer variety, not addressing the same issue even two days in a row. Stand Strong’s daily topics are fresh and unique each day. They are a short read with practical examples that put God’s Word into perspective for today’s world and the challenges men face.

I give this FIVE book stars. It is well written and Scripture based. I think it would make a nice gift for the man in your life.

I enjoyed this. It would be a good book, in some respects, for our men's Bible Study, at church. Each daily devotional is very short and can be read in less than two minutes. There is a scripture passage tied to each piece and there is a different author for each day. It reminds me of an Upper Room, for men. I have always loved the Upper Room, and this is very much like it, so I enjoyed this a great deal. There is nothing bad I can say about it. For Christian men, the more stuff like this that we read, the better.

I was initially going to suggest that the devotionals might be grouped according to topic or area of concern. But the Upper Room doesn't do that. So I don't know why this would need to. If it DID, it would be even more useful for small groups like the one I am in. But that is not really the audience it was intended for.

Books like this serve a great purpose and I would gladly buy a copy.

I downloaded this book for my husband because he said "there are not any books out there for men by men." He is back in the word daily again. Thank you for creating this book. It will be used again and again.

My husband absolutely loves this devotional. It’s a great everyday quick read to help get your focus where it needs to be. It’s by no means an in depth bible study but it’s a fantastic devotional!

Stand Strong
I am so happy that I requested to have access to this book. I can't wait for it to placed to print and or up for sale, I am definitely going to get a copy.

Stand Strong has given me new life and insight into my personal life. At times your get stagnant, sorting still in your faith. Feeling comfortable in your location in Christ. Sometimes you have to stir the waters. The healing pools were stirred and at that point your had to get in to receive your healing

. It hits you in the face, but in a good way. The devotional doesn't have a bunch of fluff. Today's devotional really hit me. Am I doing all that I can for Christ. I am a licensed minister, but am I like Paul able too write the verse from today which was 2 Timothy 4:7 I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith.

Sure most days I could write that, but it should be all days I could write this. We need to stir the waters. We have to EVERYDAY, fight the good didn't, finish the race, and keep the faith.

Devotionals are only about five minutes, I read them while starting everything up in the office, it's a great way to start your day.

I so am enjoying the daily readings! It has played a very important part of my life as I read some every day. I think more people need to read more of things like this and try to apply it to their lives, think it would make their lives better,it would make them better human beings, and apply it to dealing with people they have in their lives! It sure would make us all get along with each other better and give examples to our children on how to live life to the fullest and show as Jesus said, treat me as I would you!!! Think we get in such a rush in our lives we forget how to talk and great and love each other anymore!!!

"Stand Strong" is a good devotional for men. The devotionals are short and meaningful. Each devotional makes the reader think about their life and their relationship with the Lord. It is well written and good for busy people. The topics chosen are meaningful.A men's devotional will draw men to read about spiritual things and make them desire to be closer to the Lord. I think it is important to reach men with a men's devotional. I appreciate the publisher for allowing me to read and review this devotional.

These brief daily devotions drop tidbits of truth from scripture and a lesson to go with it. Although the lessons are helpful, I thought they are more or less undeveloped. There is little continuity from one day to the next, and I would rather read one detailed lesson over a week's worth of thorough, thoughtful writing rather than 7 different topics which caused me to forget them almost as quickly as I read them. Of course in reviewing the book in a timely fashion I had to read more than one per day. Plus when you have several authors (unknown to me) it's more of a challenge to have any continuity at all.
