"The Breakup" by Erin McCarthy is a good fit for readers looking for a fast-paced, emotional contemporary romance that explores themes of healing, self-discovery, and the complexities of love and relationships.

I have read and loved other books from Erin McCarthy, but this story just didn't work for me.

For most of the book I disliked Christian quite a bit. He definitely had some growth by the end, but it just wasn't enough to make me like/root for him. Bella was a more likeable character, but sometimes she was frustrating, too.

Bella was surprisingly easy to love. I love how well written this book is. I really wish I had read the first book before this one. But I still definitely recommend this book

I loved the characters and the storyline development of this book. It was absolutely one of my favorites so far and I can't wait to delve in to the next one that this author writes. The storyline was simple, enjoyable, and entertaining.

This book was so entertaining. I was drawn into the story from the beginning and was involved until the end. The characters were complex and interesting. I found the story to be well paced and engrossing throughout the whole book. I was invested in the couple throughout the book and felt all the emotions through both the highs and lows of the story. The side characters were such an integral part of this story as well. This is the love story i needed to read at this time. If you want an entertaining and well written book this is it for you

Nope, totally nope. I was eager to read this because I believe in redemption and second chances as well as finding the courage to fight for what you want. I thought I would get that in this book because Christian had a lot to make up for. He didn't. Nope. He was abhorrent almost all the way through. There were a couple bright spots, but when he decided to sleep with someone else while in love with Bella I was disgusted. Semantics can argue that they weren't truly together, but you don't stick your D in someone else when you love another and that person loves you back. At this point I was done. Add in that he's such a great single father and yet he's not really even around his kid and I'm just so very done.

I read the other book in this set of books and really enjoyed it. Seeing Bella And Christian be tighter, work through their issues, and just learn to be happy was great.

These Jordan brothers are not your typical Erin McCarthy heroes.......BUT they sure are fun! I have throughly enjoyed getting to know these two hot mess guys! The second book is wonderful! Bella is a high maintenance gal and Christian is a floater. BUT together they work! Read book one first and enjoy the ride!

I liked this story overall, but it did take me longer than expected to get into it. I liked that this book showed us the true side of Bella and no just the weird, super high maintenance one from The Hook-up.

THE BREAKUP - Erin McCarthy

#2 The Jordan Brothers romance series

OPPOSITES-ATTRACT ROMANCE - 4 stars

Plot - 4 stars - Bella is Sophie's sister (from Book #1) and couldn't be more different. She's interested in fashion, makeup, and is ready to marry Bradley in a grand society wedding. But when she finds out Bradley's secrets, she decides she can't go through with it and asks for help from Christian (twin brother of Cain from Book #1). Their relationship develops from there.

Writing - 4 stars - Admittedly, this is a strong continuation of the previous book, so the characters were fairly well established already. Still, McCarthy caught my attention right from the first page and kept the story moving forward quickly. The characters were well-built, and I liked the story about two characters who have been burned with their first relationships, and are now trying to build something new and real.

Characters - 4.5 stars - The characters are all winners for me in this series. Although we met Christian and Bella in the previous book and they were the bad guys in that story, their stories are told from their perspective this time, and they are a lot more likable, of course. I found Bella to be warm and sweet and a wonderful heroine. She's not the typical go-getter strong professional, and I found that very refreshing. Christian also appeared to be unattractive previously, but now we see that he's a strong family man, just trying to care for his son and keep himself moving forward in a difficult situation. His instant attraction for Bella made sense, and I admired his perseverance even when he found out Bella's news.

Title - 4 stars - Since the relationship between Bella and Bradley is the first main focus of this book, then the title works. I suppose it can also refer to Christian's relationship with Ali and how it imploded prior to the beginning of this book.

Cover - 4 stars - There is an attractive couple on the cover, as is common with this genre. Since the couple looks a lot like what I pictured for these characters, this works for me.

Overall - 4 stars - Overall, I enjoyed this story very much. The chemistry between Christian and Bella was high-energy and made sense. They seemed at first like an opposites-attract type of couple, but as it turns out, Bella is very different from what we at first thought. The characters were great--warm and friendly--and I was definitely rooting for their success. It was nice to revisit with Sophie and Cain from the previous book and watch the progress of their relationship as well. Good story. Something a little different, and I hope there are more to come in this series.

I fell in love with this book almost immediately and when I saw it's the second in a series I could not wait to read more stories about the Jordan brothers! This is my first book by this author but she blew me away that I immediately bought the first book in this series! I loved the concept of this book. It was a refreshing romance plot for once. A girl using a guy for sex to get back at her cheating fiance!

I voluntarily reviewed an ARC from Nergalley.

I wanted to like this book. I tried to like this book. For me, it just didn't happen. Perhaps I was too old to enjoy it. I thoroughly enjoyed The Hookup. This one, not so much.

I really liked this book. I love the couple that has preconceived notions about each other. I thought Bella and Christian were an unexpected couple but it worked. I like that some issues from book 1 were resolved like why Christian slept with his twins gf. Deep down he was a good guy but just made some mistakes. Overall I think I would recommend this one. 3.5 stars

Received an ARC from NetGalley for an honest review.

I love love love the Jordan brothers. They are flawed, but when they fall, the fall in love deeply. I wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Christian. After seeing him from Cain's point of view, I was ready to find him unlikable....but I was so so wrong. McCarthy wrote a story that had me invested from start to finish.

I knew that Bella and Christian had chemistry - we saw that in Cain and Sophie's book - but I didn't realize just how much. When Bella turns to Christian for a hook up, it isn't long before they start to have feelings. They start to see each other for who they really are and start falling...hard.

McCarthy has this great way of weaving heart and heat into a story that had me completely invested. I refused to put my book down!

Bella has doubts about getting married that are confirmed when she finds out her fiancé has cheated on her. She leaves him at the church and calls Christian to take her away. What comes after is Christian dealing with his issues and coming to terms with being an adult and a father, and Bella also growing up and taking responsibility for herself. I didn't dislike this book, but I also didn't find myself wanting to turn the pages to find out what happens.

I hate having to write a negative review but unfortunately I did not enjoy this book as I couldn't connect to it.

One thing I liked about our main character, Christian, was the fact that he seemed to be a good dad.

What I liked about our main character, Bella, was the fact that she was able to take charge of her life, turn it around for the better and go after what she wanted.

I did enjoy seeing the relationship between Christian and Bella form and seeing them have a good time together and Bella, finally, enjoying life. It was also fun to see them joke around with each other as well.

All in all, although the relationship that takes place in this book was fun to read about this book, unfortunately, was not for me.

I love this book as much as I loved the Hookup. It explained a lot that was left off in the hookup. Bella is have second thought about her upcoming marriage and fighting her attraction to Christian. As Bella makes a decision that affects both their future and relationship. They both learn to let go off insecurities n expectations and trust in love. Love the Jordan family hope there’s more stories about them. Engaging read recommended read.

This was a nice easy read.
I felt like Bella was a little to naive and lacked a backbone, and that Christian was just a big player. But the characters grew well together and it turn out to be a pretty fun and sweet book.

This was book 2 in the series, but you don't really have to read book 1 to pickup on the story. Belle is the princess in this story and she is having misgivings about her upcoming wedding. Turns out those misgivings are totally founded. She decides to rebound by having a fling with Christian, but he isn't having it. Because the truth is, he wants more. Through more than one misunderstanding, these two flawed characters find out that what they really need is each other. A super cute, quick read.

The Breakup by Erin McCarthy is the second book in the Jordan Brother’s series. While there is a reference to the first book in this book, I found this to be a good stand-alone book. The main story itself is straightforward enough the first book could be skipped and you be okay.
There are however like I said some references to the last book, they are sort of important. Gives you insight into Bella more, but again not necessary to this story.
Overall this story is cute, sweet, and just what I love about picking up a Love Swept book. I want a pure romance that is the place to go.
Bella is a complicated and smart character. She might seem like one thing but once you get to know her she is way more. I liked her layers.
Christian is pretty straightforward he is who he is. He makes no apologies for that. I liked his drive and pure maleness that comes across in this book. He has depth and lots of love to give.
Overall a great read for the truly romantic at heart. I know I would like to go back and read the first book now and to see many more in this series in the future.

Five shooting Stars
