Fun, lighthearted and really sexy! The Breakup might appear as fluffy and hot but its also about the female leads self discovery. The book is an offshoot of The Hookup and runs on parallel timelines. Thereforenit can be read as a standalone. Christian and Bella’s story will have readers turning the pages, laughing and fanning themselves at the same time.

I liked this one, but didn't love it. I found myself frequently annoyed by the h. She was a twit. And the ending was trite. In 7 pages everything worked out with a big bow. I know it sounds like I hated it, but I didn't. I read it quickly and enjoyed it overall. I think the ending just left me with a sour taste.

About The Breakup:

Bella Bigelow had it all. A handsome successful fiance, a job that she’s passionate about, and a family she will do anything for. But a week away from her wedding, she finds some devastating news on her fiance’s cell phone that is a huge deal breaker for her. So she devises a plan to get back at Bradley for all the wrong that he’s unbeknownst to her has put her through.

Enter Christian, hot and swoony bartender. From the first time Christian set his sights on Bella, he’s had nothing but want on his mind. It never mattered to him that she had a dick of a fiance, but clearly it mattered to her.

Now Christian finds himself in his car driving away from a packed church with Bella dressed to wed in his passenger seat. What will the town think of this scandal.

My Thoughts:

I have to say, when i first read the blurb to The Breakup by Erin McCarthy, I was excited to dive into this novel. A scorned ex bride running away with Mr. Sexy Bartender. What’s not to love. That is why it saddens me to have to say, I really didn’t vibe well with this novel. I didn’t like Bella at all. I thought her inexperience came more across as immaturity. Her character sounded way younger than she actually was.

I also didn’t sense the character connections at all. Christian and Bella had the ability to light a kindle on fire...but to me they felt flat. I wanted and needed more from them.

Overall, The Breakup was just okay. I was expecting so much more from this novel and it was a slight let down.

I've read a few books by this author and was really looking forward to this one. However, I always say it's the characters that make or break a story for me and in this case, they broke it.

Bella didn't stand out from any other typical female of this genre. She was everything she was supposed to be, but it just felt lacking from what my expectations were.

Christian was awful. I'm so over this type of guy being "swoon-worthy" or attractive. He just felt too easy...there was no depth to him and it just felt more like the same-old overdone trope.

Needless to say, it wasn't my favorite. I feel like this series was given to a ghostwriter who gave it their best shot, but it wasn't up to par.

Have you ever been in a situation you wanted to get out of, but felt so backed into a corner that it just felt impossible to escape? Perhaps you had no one to call, no one to rely on because everyone in your life helped back you into that corner; your parents, your friends, your cheating fiancé, even the rules of society didn’t help. Your life was crashing in on you and you could barely breathe, who would you call?

In a state of panic Bella Bigelow called the only person that came to mind, Christian Jordan. He never should have been on her mind, but when you are running from your own wedding his face flashed before her eyes and without thinking she dialed his number. Before she knew what she was doing she jumped into his “getaway car” and she ran away from the only life she’d ever dreamed of. All she’d ever wanted was to be a wife and a mother and in an instant she threw it all away, but it was better than making the biggest mistake of her life, marrying a lying, cheating scumbag.

Christian Jordan was known for finding trouble. He was excellent at it. Bella Bigelow is trouble in every sense of the word. She’s beautiful, she’s rich, and she’s taken. Christian has his own problems raising his son without any support from the birth mother. He really doesn’t need more trouble in his life, but when it literally comes calling, he doesn’t say no. He is drawn to Bella in a way he hasn’t been drawn to anyone else before and the more time he spends with her the harder it is to walk away even when every instinct inside him says he should.

When all the cards are finally on the table for these two and it comes down to, should they progress as a couple, or was the time they spent together post runaway-bride-nightmare just a fling?

I read this book, not knowing it was book 2 of a series. Erin McCarthy is a pro and I had no trouble jumping right in and following along as if this was a standalone. Christian was extremely likeable, especially when he considered putting his family first and Bella’s worries and concerns are very realistic. A very enjoyable read.

The follow up to "The Hookup" and this was just as good. I do feel like you needed to read part I of the series to understand some of the underlying story and drama, but it's good on it's own. Christian and Bella have chemistry and seem more human and likable than they were in the first book. A quick read that's worth the time.

Again, another fun read by this author. Runaway bride leaves the groom at the altar, and who wouldn’t after she finds out that he’s really not apologetic about cheating on her. And as it happens, neither is her mother who insists that everyone does it. So she does what she wants for once, and calls the bartender from the bachelorette party to come get her!

Christian already has complications in his life, a son that he isn’t sure is his and who is in the custody of his grandmother, so why does he answer the call from Bella? And why does he take her away to his cabin when he knows it is going to cause all kinds of problems?

Because that’s the kind of guy he is and because Bella deserves some time to herself.

Yeah, we all know where this is headed but it sure is enjoyable along the way! Another HEA that deserves a round of applause!

I received an ARC of this novel from Netgalley in exchange for my review. I am a big fan of Erin McCarthy. Her novels are playful, steamy and a bit predictable, but always a lot of fun, and The Break Up did not disappoint. Bella is a bit of a princess, she's beautiful, spoiled and deep down feels that the only thing she is valued for is her looks. That is why she refuses to see her fiance for what he is, a cheating snake. In a drunken blur, Bella decides to hook-up with bad boy bartender Christian Jordan, and one night with Christian is enough for Bella to leave her fiance at the alter and run off with Christian.

Running away never solves any problems, so Bella is now at a crossroads: where should she go, what should she do, and will Christian be a part of her problems or the solution she's been looking for? This was a very fast, but fun read. It is part of a series and I look forward to reading more!

After finishing Perennials (and all the feels that came with it), I needed something light so, I jumped ahead on my TBR list a bit to an advanced copy of The Breakup by Erin McCarthy. Don’t let the title fool you. This isn’t a sad, heartbreak story. In fact, you’ll be rooting for the only actual “break up” in this one. Have you ever heard the saying that a set *back* is really just a set *up* for a come up? Well, that saying is the best way to describe Bella’s situation without giving too much away. In other words, this fun, flirty read was just what the doctor ordered!

This is the second book in the 'Jordan Brothers' series. When we first meet Bella Bigelow, she is engaged to be married to Bradley, the man of her dreams. Or is he? Her doubts about her fiance and her upcoming wedding leads her to the small town playboy (and twin brother of her sister Sophie's boyfriend), Christian Jordan. But what starts as revenge for Bella and lust for Christian may turn into something more.

I really enjoyed this story more than the first book in the series, 'The Hook-up'. Bella is a very naive but sweet girl that struggles to balance her need to please others with her desire to be true to herself. I really felt for Bella, especially with the way her fiance treats her. Ugh! Anyway, Christian definitely lives up to his playboy persona and at times his careless attitude towards Bella annoyed me to no end. This story is not only filled with love and angst, but plenty of heat between Bella and Christian. Christian is definitely a hot and dirty guy and I love it! 4.5 stars for a great storyline and plenty of angst.

Bella is a socialite that has been unfortunately been tied into her family's ideology of what they want for her. This means she is now engaged to a financially sound man who unfortunately happens top be a serial cheater who expects things even if they are not in the normal. Christian and his family come from the rough side of town and works as a bartender. He also happens to shares custody of his son with his mother, after  Aly, tricked both Christian and his brother Cain and followed that by abandoned their newborn son.

The story is told in dual first person point of views. Bella and Christian tell the story in sequence of events that go from one to the other, shortly after the first point is shared. The characters do not only develop amazingly but have super interactions and show how much they grow as a couple but also personally. There is a former relationship between Aly and Christian but also Aly and Cain. There is also a history between Sophie, Bella's sister, and Cain, Christian's twin brother. The relationship between Bella and Christian starts as physical and unattainable, due to Bella's engagement. It takes time and energy but also time, patience and trust that needs to be built up.

Yes, I would recommend this book. It has excellent writing style and also the way the characters feel so real. This story is excellent for any young couples but also those who are looking for an interesting read in the light nature.

Christian and Bella both make some rash judgments about the other. Bella acts out at her Bachelorette party and got kind of rude and snippy with Christian. Christian thinks she is hot as sin and the fact she is engaged doesn't bother him all too much. What bothers him is everyone's poor opinions of the Jordan family, whether deserved or not.

Christian is not what he appears to be. He is a bartender but does have ambitions. He is also a single father raising his son with the help of his mother and sister. Bella doesn't know the circumstances surrounding Camp's paternity and doesn't react very well upon learning them. Christian never deflects the blame for his poor decision and paternity with the way Camp was conceived and who it was with. Although he doesn't react very well to Bella's rash judgment, he does concede that it doesn't put him in the best light.

Bella has been burned by her fiance'e and his cheating ways. She does take her sweet time in figuring out what she is gong to do about their impending nuptials. Her reactions weren't always what I thought they would be but they did seem believable for her. Christian did make some unfair rich girl judgments about her. I liked how she took charge of her life. She stopped apologizing and started living her life for herself.

Their chemistry was undeniable but these two both played games at one point. Keeping secrets never works out I felt Bella should have told Christian the one big one right away. Her excuses for not doing it rang hollow. She was adamant that no secrets should be kept in a relationship, but kept a huge one for quite a while. I did like how the characters resolved their feelings and worked it out.

This is the second book about the Jordan Brothers. The Breakup follows Christian, Cain's identical twin brother, and Bella, Sophie's sister.

Bella is a princess, not a royal princess, but she comes from a wealthy family and to anyone who is judging a book by its cover would think she is nothing more than a stuck up spoiled brat. She is in Maine with her family for her wedding, however, wedding plans are up in the air when she finds out that her fiance cheated on her.

Christian doesn't want a relationship, he just wants a one night stand. His primary focus in life is his son. The moment he lays eyes on Bella is his smitten, but also doesn't want to be with someone who is a spoiled brat. That is until he rescues Bella from the wedding she is running away from and truly gets to know the real girl.

I have to admit, I wasn't a fan of Bella in The Hookup and I wasn't much of a fan of her at the beginning of this book, but she grew on me. The more the story went on and the more we got to know Bella and how she felt growing up, the more I started to love her. Christian is a great father and wants nothing but the best from his son. I love his alpha male side and how caring he is when it comes to Bella and to his son.

I am glad we got a little more Cain and Sophie, because I absolutely loved those two. To see Christian and Cain begin to repair their damaged relationship was also great. It was time those two started to act like brothers and get over the hurt and pain they have caused each other.

I am hoping we get some more Jordan brothers because I am curious about the train caboose of fun hidden at the cabins.

We first met Christian and Bella in The Hookup, the story of Christian's twin brother and Bella's sister. Bella is in the small costal town for her upcoming wedding, but it may not be the fairytale ending she’s hoping for when she discovers her fiancé has been cheating. Having been raised to put on the perfect social face, Bella has trouble breaking off the engagement and instead ditches the groom at the alter, asking Christian to give her a ride from the church. Bella just wants to escape, forget about expectations, and maybe find out she’s not as bad in bed as her ex led her to believe. As part of “that" family that everyone in the town looks down on, no one has expectations of Christian, a bartender and single father with a revolving bedroom door, so he may be the perfect man to teach Bella a thing or two.

After reading The Hookup and loving Cain’s and Sophie's characters, I was eager to read an early copy of this book and get Bella's story. I had definitely pegged her as a spoiled, egocentric rich girl, and I couldn’t have been more wrong. In no time at all she won me over with her huge heart, compassion and innate goodness. I liked Christian well enough, but he never quite rose above the town's expectations for him and I never felt that he came to deserve Bella. He was another hero who used other women as a place holder or to forget the heroine, and I’m sorry, if you’re really in love you DON'T DO THAT. He still came across as selfish, even at the end, but Bella, being the sweetheart she was, loved him and all his flaws. Although there are some incidents from the first book mentioned but not fully explained, the book is well written, the storyline is interesting and there were some sweet, steamy and humorous moments, as I’ve come to expect with this author. Other than Christian's lack of redemption in my eyes, it’s a great read, and if you’ve read Sophie and Cain's story you’ll definitely want to read this one.

I received The Breakup by Erin McCarthy for free in exchange for an honest review. I believe that this Erin McCarthy is the same who wrote a series of vampire romance books several years ago, and I greatly enjoyed those, so I was looking forward to reading this. I was not disappointed. A bride-to-be finds out that her prince charming is a cheating jerk and calls off her wedding just prior to the ceremony. She calls a guy that she spoke to at a bar (whose twin brother happens to be dating her sister) to pick her up. They take off to a remote location and spend a few days together. As you can guess, it gets quite steamy during those few days. A wrench thrown in is that the guy is a single father, and then she ends up pregnant, which was not in the plan. They start to work together and then date (before she tells him she is pregnant, which was probably not a great idea). When he finds out, there is obviously some drama. In the end everything ends up well. This was a very enjoyable read. I read it in one night and am anxious to read more by Erin McCarthy!

This wasn't my favorite book. I think I may like the first ones better, but I didn't really like this book that much. It wasn't a terrible read because sometimes romance novels can be gross. This book wasn't gross, but it was just blah. I didn't really care for the characters or the situation. Not really a fan of this one.

Christian and Bella are as different as chalk and cheese but somehow they find themselves together and their connection though unexpected is enjoyable.
I haven’t read the first book in the Jordan brother series and the point of their initial meeting that I guess was covered in the first book, I didn’t feel like I was missing anything. It is an enjoyable read with well written characters who share amazing chemistry. I enjoyed Bella’s journey of coming into herself and my only complain is that the ending felt rushed.
I voluntarily read and reviewed an advanced copy of this book from Netgalley. All thoughts and opinions are my own

The Break Up
By: Erin McCarthy

📚💕⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️💕📚

Two broken people who understand family disappointment!!!

He doesn’t want to like her. He’s created his own problems he doesn’t need even more. She keeps saying rude things she doesn’t mean. He keeps rescuing her from her family’s judgment and her ex fiancé infidelity. What happens when understanding turns to passion and so much more. The writing is flawless, and the words are so captivating, the plot had so many twists and turns and none that I was expecting, and many shocking moments."

Well let me start by saying I have become a huge fan of this author. She writes with so much intensity and emotion pulled from each book it’s felt page after page. Some are quick witted story lines are so perfect and lets you believe you have a front row seat. So being able to read this love story didn’t disappoint. The authors ability to have two separate individuals struggling in their everyday life and try to navigate someone else’s thoughts, needs and desires was intense and gives all the fills.

Authors Blurb: Bella: I know I’m a princess. I’m used to getting what I want. But all I ever really wanted was a husband and a family. Unlike my sister, Sophie, I’ll never have a brilliant career to fall back on. So what’s a bride to do when she learns that Prince Charming is a cheating snake just a few days before her fairy-tale wedding? With my fiancé begging for another chance, the only way to save the wedding is to even things out with a little revenge sex—and local bartender Christian Jordan seems like the right man for the job.

Christian: If gorgeous Bella Bigelow thinks sleeping with me will somehow lead to happily ever after, I’m not going to turn her down. The guy she wants to marry is a jerk, and her sister is fooling around with my estranged twin brother, Cain. So what’s the problem—besides falling for a woman who doesn’t know what she wants out of life? All I want to do is whisk her away from that church, take her to a cabin in the woods, and act out all our naughtiest fantasies. And I may just get the chance. . . .

I really enjoyed this book and it kept me engrossed throughout. I really loved the characters and the way they interacted with each other. This is a fun, hot, romantic must read book and I would definitely recommend this book to anyone.

This book has everything I love in a book. Then you add that it's beautifully written and believable. It is easily a five star read. Written in dual POV my personal favorite this story flows so incredibly well that the next thing you know your 80% into the book and loving every second of it. The believable way the characters interact is perfect. Run, Hop, Jump or use your (1 click) finger to do whatever you have to do and get this amazing book. It'll break your heart, you'll want to scream with frustration and it'll let you discover that love just might conquer all. The chemistry is steamy and sweet and oh so romantic.

Thanks Netgally for letting me read and review.📚💕

I was initially a little leary of The Breakup. I'm not a big fan of cheating books so I was extremely happy that there was no cheating. Things happened close together, which is fine, albeit fast, but whatever. Bella was a bit hard to take at first she was a little over the top but after the fiasco on her wedding day with her jerk of a now ex fiance she comes around and starts to develop more and you see why she was the way she was.

I liked Christian in the first book so it was no surprise that I liked him in this one. His story (and Cain's) is all kinds of messed up. Ali makes her reappearance and I wish that had been a bit more of the story, it's an interesting circumstance and really added to why Christian made the decisions he did.

Christain was good for Bella and I'm glad they got their happily ever after.

I read the first book in this series and was so interested in reading the story of two characters who had previously been rather unlikable. In the beginning of the book they are still pretty unlikable but over the course of the story they grew on me and I really liked reading about their interactions. I thought I was going to end up liking this book even more than the first until the ending, or non-ending I should say. In the middle of a real conflict suddenly everything is wrapped up in the most flimsy way possible and then we are given a pointless epilogue. I was so let down.

I was given a copy of this book in exchange for an honest review.
